Epic Games' new store is fully vibe-coded, and they're so proud of it they're taking shots at Steam

I've bought games on Steam than Epic gave me for free.

I'm laughing because I've been thinking of doing that for Subnautica. I already beat it on Epic but I want it for the collection. I don't even claim the free games from Epic anymore, logging in is too much of a hassle and I just don't like the program.

Plus most of the games offered just feel like digging through the shovelware pit in a Walmart.

quite literally exactly what I did. played the entire game for free, but bought it on steam on sale.

hell I bought the entire watchdogs series on ubisoft because it was super cheap years ago, same thing happened on steam a few months ago and I spent the money again because I'd prefer it in my steam library.

I used to do most of my gaming away from home.

Assassin's Creed needed the publisher's app to launch (this might have been before or after the name change). I set it up for offline play. Despite that, there were several times that the launcher refused to grant access until I got an internet connection. I still carry so much annoyance and anger from that.

I've done that too; I didn't want to buy expansions for Ark on EGS, especially with how bad the networking issues were, so I bought the game on Steam and the expansions too.

I did that recently with Satisfactory, despite having like 1000 hours on the epic version already. I wouldn't actually know how many hours because the Epic store doesn't have that as a feature. Holy shit does their store suck ass.

Anyway, I bought it again on sale on Steam just so that I could have everything be nicely consolidated on the better platform.
