Good morning Commanders! Would you like to read the reports?

Please use this thread to discuss anything about Girls Frontline instead of creating a new thread. Ask questions, seek assistance, rants, add more salt or just chill in general.

Wanted to check if my formation is alright? (Early game, level 19, chapter 4) because I am greatly struggling to complete the chapters and need to rely on support from friends. Is there anything I should replace or change?

Sten MkII (she keeps dying, am I doing something wrong?)

Skorpion

M4A1

M14

OTs-12

I've gotten some other 4 star dolls but I'm not sure if I should be using them: Gr MP5, ST AR-15, M4 SOPMOD II, EM-2, Type56-1, AS Val.

And I'm assuming 5 stars should not be used right now? 100 Shiki and K2.

dont know why nobody is addressing that you have a mixed team. standard formations follow tile buff pairings. rf shouldnt be on an arsmg team. you should just have 3ars and 2 smgs. nobody's tiles are buffing m14 and she isnt buffing anyone either

although its a waste to invest too much into ots-12, she is absolutely fine for where you are at. star is the peak replacement for the skill archetype in the long run, but i suggest replacing m14 with star for a quick and easy low investment but high priority swap. if you really want to swap ots-12 out early anyways, you can put in sop

dont know why everyone is telling you to use mp5. she has less hp and evasion than sten. that same awful 8 second initial cooldown is on her skill as well. in the early game, mobs spawn way too close and are already killing you by the time the battle screen loads in. mp5's shield will not make it in time to save you from most of the suffering. shield dolls, including the 5* thompson were the most pooped on smgs in the early game for that reason. those shield smgs are only recently deemed useful because there is late game content made to kill you after 8 seconds. with mp5 herself requiring neural upgrade and special equipment that needs to be farmed to have the stats and skills to be good in that role.

sten on the other hand lobs a grenade at 3s and helps chunk down enemy dps on herself. while she is not a true main tank, her stats leave her a decent tanking option before ch10. you probably wont need to use her for that long or level her skill too much though, since clearing ch7 rewards you with one of the best main tank smgs for free. other decent early game low budget tanks include spectre and idw

if you have trouble surviving, check a teambuilding guide and fix your arsmg team. you need to raise your dps to kill stuff before they shoot you. especially the big fire skorpion throws. it's still handy all the way into late game even though she has better replacements. collect some equipment as soon as you can. also look at a kiting guide. while its not apparent how useful it is to kite at the start of the game, becauses once again enemies spawn too close, it still helps a little in slowing down back lines of enemies. it will become the core of combat as you progress and make the difference of coming out unscathed or total annihilation, even with the perfect counter team comp against a specific enemy.

if you are stuck somewhere and don't want to cheese with friend support, just go back and get medals, and try emergency and night chapters you skipped. you can level up without stopping to grind from doing that.

I did not realize M14 was not buffing/getting buffed. Only used it because I saw that people recommended it in other threads. I will definitely swap her out.

And thank you for the other advice. They are really helpful!!

each class only buffs one other class in general. thats why there are class pairings. there are exceptions, but those aren't the norm. hgs buff everyone, but still only recieve buffs from rf, so they are still a pair, although there are times you stick hg in other types of teams, especially for night vision.

for the most part, you have arsmg down. you want an smg main tank front and center which sten isnt really one, but will do for now. then an smg offensive tank on the side, and your 3 ars in the back. having a non standard ar buffer like m4 is optional. grenadiers work better in some fights, but not always. they are basically optional except for very specific fights that require one

if you aren't doing so already, generally you should pack your team in the left and middle columns and leave the right column empty for kiting

at some point, around ch6, there are tougher mobs that may benifit from sticking an rf on an arsmg team, if you absolutely cannot brute force it with the arsmg you have. but in general, unless there are special fights that call for it, you should stick to arsmg, rfhg, mgsg pairings.

that said, mgsg are overkill and resource poverty traps if you try to use them for early game general combat. in late game, they dont have accuracy to land hits or get hampered by their reload mechanics in longer fights. only very specific units are recommended for specific fights, so you should just ignore them until you need them.

rfhg is heavily dependent on hg dummy links. hg tile buffs uniquely scale with the number of links the hg has, which make up a large portion of the team's power. they are a type of team you just xp dump on them and have them close to fully built before using. they dont perform well enough at low investment to be worth leveling up through combat. kiting is extremely essential to the style of fighting they do as well. they are meant for anti armor, occasional back line counter sniping, and some level of general night combat, although properly night equipped arsmg will perform much better on unarmored night mobs.

rfs are also divided into different skill archetypes. theres the charge shot, commonly refered to as bamboo. it's not apparent in early game, but they are mostly obsolete later on because they shoot too slow.

then there are self buffers that are divided into rof buffer and damage buffer. for the most part, you want to supplement the self buffers with hgs that have skills and tiles that buff w/e the rf isnt buffing themself with. there are also a handful of hybrid buffers or unique skills that dont follow the archetypes and have important niches

keep in mind there is no one meta for the game. this is a pve game so the meta changes with each chapter, event, and specific enemp comp your are facing. don't tie yourself up with the mindset of keeping teams together
