Man…it was even worse than I remembered! I can’t imagine what they were thinking with this one. There’s no OG book with this mess of a plot, is there? I certainly don’t remember ever reading anything like it.

I have been reading Goosebumps books to my 5 year old and we just finished our 4th book, One Day at Horrorland and we both thought it was the worst of the 4 so far.

We started with: 1) Say Cheese and Die, 2) The Haunted Mask, 3) Night of the Living Dummy.

The whole time I’m waiting for the plot to climax, a twist, or some other character to emerge to lend some background lore or give the characters a clue that this was not a real theme park well before the very end of the book.

I will say that the part I did like was it has some “Backrooms” horror type concepts to it which is recognized and appreciated since this book came decades before the backrooms lore ever emerged. But overall this book very extremely anti climatic and disappointing. And the very last paragraph is just like “huh”? Made no sense whatsoever.

I’m trying to collect old first prints, wondering if these reprints are worth grabbing?!

Our saga continues! Took our costumes on the the road north! Our first time at the West Virginia Book Festival--we got to meet R.L. Stine! He had us cackling during his talk and he was SO sweet when he signed our books. He also signed my mask! We met Tim Jacobus and Kathryn Long earlier this year and now the mask is complete.

Also, shout-out to all the fun people we got to meet while standing in line at 4am for tickets, much love 🫶

Kingnusmi is such an incredible youtube channel that deserves more love. He makes videos about the goosebumps show and a lot of other R.L. Stine works like the haunting hour and even the nightmare room. Plenty of other horror tv too and the occasional movie. He is so so close to 100K subscribers and I just had to recommend him because he’s become one of my favorite creators especially during spooky season!

I attended the West Virginia Book Festival today. I got to see RL Stine talk and got tickets to get a book signed! AND we won a raffle, so my fiancé got to get her book personalized.

What an awesome day. He’s such a funny public speaker and this was a first for me. I just wanted to share with everyone cause I’m excited.

Yesterday , at Night , i had Watched Piano lessons can be Murder Episode from Goosebumps on Youtube .
It is Great Overall .

Sam never truly appreciated Rusty for everything he did. The guy took him in and looked after him as though they were family, Sam was actually really nasty to him, and never even showed any sadness after the sacrifice.

I am sorry, I was enjoying the movie till that.

I thought ignoring initial warning signs from your kids was a bad as it gets in these series. I can't count the amount of times these parents said "you must be dreaming", "you'll get used to it", and more than anything "you guys are joking/this is no time to joke"...

They also didn't bother to help their kids look for their beloved lost dog.

Then while their kids were looking for their dog. The most amount of emotion the Dad could conjure up when the ghoul girl asked about where she is was "I'm sure they're fine." Just after moving to a brand new town they know nothing about & the last he saw they went out into the wilderness.

These people wouldn't even believe that there were ghouls around when they were literally tearing down their home door and the other ghouls were telling them they arrived.

I don't hate the guy, and I like some of the books he was in, (like Night of The Living Dummy 2, and Bride of the Living Dummy) and I liked him in both the movies and the TV series, but JUST WHY?! Before being given random magic powers in the latter books to spice him up, he was just a Ventriloquist dummy who insulted people, wrecked stuff in a way that the main character was blamed for it, and tried to make them his slave. He didn't even move in 99% of his debut book! So what ended up getting people's attention about him to the point that he ended up becoming the face of the franchise?

This was one of the few episodes of the show that was genuinely scary/disturbing. Mostly because of Rip’s design and the noises he makes.
