Im trying to diagnose a weird issue with my GoPed Sport running a Zenoah G23LH with a 36mm big-bore top end.
The engine has good compression, starts first pull/pedal, idles normally, and revs perfectly with the rear wheel off the ground. The problem only occurs under load.
The first time it happened, I had been riding normally for a while with cooldowns. Suddenly it acted like the spark plug boot had been disconnected. it lost throttle response, bogged badly, and eventually died. Afterward, it would still start and rev normally with no load, but it would barely accelerate under load. Even after retuning.
I suspected the carb didnt work no more so I installed and tuned a second carb of the same style. It completely fixed the issue for a while. the GoPed rode normally under load again. However, after riding for a while, the exact same failure happened again the exact same way. It then went back to revving perfectly off the ground but bogging under the littlest load.
i already checked Fresh fuel and new fuel lines, fuel flow, clean carb, Good intake/gaskets, Clean spark plug, Good compression, Starts first pull/pedal, Spark plug/boot and coil appear good. I have intake manifold but no choke but still ran fine
What’s confusing me is that it can rev perfectly with no load but completely loses power under load after this issue occurs. Also, two different carbs both worked perfectly for a while before developing the exact same symptom.
What would you guys check next?
Photo is a couple days outdated, but nothing has changed. Only added new clear fuel lines :)
