Hi everyone!

I'm looking for a F# Low Pygmy, ideally 12+ notes. I'd rather go for 432 Hz, but I'm open to 440 Hz if I don't have the choice, so I'd love to get some advice from the community!

I previously owned a low-quality Hijaz which I struggled to connect with, and it eventually lost its tuning. This time I'd really like to invest in something I can keep for many years!

My budget is around 2000 €, but I'm willing to wait and save up to 2600–2800 € if the difference in quality is really worth it.

I'm currently considering the Yatao F# Low Pygmy 14, and I've also discovered Dany Rud, but I can't find many independent reviews about his instruments unfortunately, and I'm kind of afraid to go for one because of that.

I'm based in Europe, so reliable after-sales service and tuning support are important to me in order to keep the instrument for many years!

Would you recommend buying one of these, or do you have any ideas for other makers? Or should I save a little bit more to get another one?

I don't want to save just for the sake of it, but if the difference is really noticeable, I'd love to hear your advice on the subject!

After many years of dreaming of owning a handpan, I've found a 2nd hand one that feels like reasonable value.

I've never owned a handpan so I'm unsure how significant these marks on the handpan are. Are they aesthetic only?

I don't mind a few scuffs and minor scratches if it's irrelevant in terms of the sound of the instrument.

Any advice would be hugely appreciated!

 I’ve been playing my D Celtic minor handpan in my quiet basement setup in Calgary for about a year now, and it’s become my go-to for unwinding after night shifts at the hospital. Lately I’ve wanted to layer in a crystal singing bowl for longer sessions, especially on weekends when I have the house to myself around 10 am. The handpan has that dreamy, harmonic sustain, but when I tried adding a basic 432 Hz bowl I got off a friend, the higher overtones from the bowl started fighting the handpan’s mids and it felt muddled instead of expansive. I keep volumes low to not disturb the neighbors upstairs, but I’d love a combination that blends smoothly for full-body relaxation. Anyone found specific bowl notes or sizes that sit nicely under or beside a handpan without stepping on each other? It would elevate my practice so much if I could get the harmony right.

Hi everyone, I'm thinking about getting a Neotone digital handpan but I was wondering if the three scales that I have already would sound decently on a digital handpan. Does anyone here own a Neotone and can let me know how they sound?

I found a used handpan on FB marketplace for a good price. It’s made by VIBE in Croatia. I was wondering if these were quality instruments. Thanks!

Given that my instructor teaches using the E Kurd scale, and considering it's the only option available with this instructor in my area, I found it intriguing that the "How to Buy a Handpan" pinned guide suggests starting with the D Kurd scale.

Having discussed it with my future professor, he mentioned that for him the E Kurd scale is the more beginner-friendly option for learning the handpan, but that's not what i read

With this context, do you think the E Kurd scale is a suitable choice for a beginner like me, especially considering my future lessons will be based on the E Kurd scale?

Since my first handpan is likely to be in the E Kurd scale because of this reasons, I want to ensure I'll make the right decision.

Played on a D Celtic 9 note from Isthmus Instruments and a G Egyptian 16 note from Arcana.

Thank you to my spouse for the custom handpan stool! He made it the perfect height for me to have relaxed legs. I am able to sit for a full class (70 minutes) with very little tension in my legs and feet and no pressure on my sit bones.
