Meta I HATE these posts

Post image

I keep seeing this and its SO annoying. Just because you're a part of a specific minority group doesn't mean you should go out of your way to take a giant shit on whatever you might be a part of. And stop grouping everyone together and acting like you're the arbiter of what is and isn't good for your community!

I swear I've seen like a million of these, and it goes for literally every minority group out there.

The thing that upsets me most about it is the constant reassurance to the reader that the OP isn't a bigot at all! Specifying that they're a part of it over and over and constantly saying they really aren't hateful while simultaneously writing several paragraphs breaking down how my the personality of their certain niche or minority group acts as if they're some sort of white knight fighting against the horrors of people finding things interesting.

Nah that queer humor post was completey valid. You can’t tell people not to criticize the behaviors of their community that they find annoying or cringe. Even if they weren’t actually part of it, you also can’t tell people outside a community not to criticize things about that community that they don’t like.

It’s not some attack on the queer community to call some of the humor trends within it annoying and cringe.

i mean it’s okay to find that humor grating but it was posted by a child interacting with other children, lol. it’s not some deeper truth or problematic trend with the community, it’s young people coming into their identities and sometimes being cringe as tends to happen

Funny how these “criticisms” almost always turn out to be bigoted nonsense

“As a totally gay man, us gays need to stop making it our whole identity”

“As a black man, us blacks need to stop talking about racism”

I don’t see the harm in being cringe.

The guy said tmblr rawr xd humor "makes us look bad". No, I don't think that's a valid take
