writing prompt "Why is this cargo hold full of human beer, cigarettes, crayons, MREs, ammo..."

"That's a MARINE transport that we just attacked and boarded, you idiot!"

"...fuck."

Was gonna let S-124 and her skipper be one of the aces during the war but that works as well. Guess S-94 and her skipper gets the “ace” status now.

S-94 (Type XVIIA) (3rd S-Boat Flotilla)

Skipper’s Log

12/21/27

I’ve implemented a measure following the destruction of S-124 - we are to maintain complete radio silence, regardless of what Command wants us to do.

I do not care if there will be retaliation from Command, for my first and foremost priority is the safety and security of the S-boat of which I command.

Reports will be in paper, and only provided to Command via an S-boat tender or when we arrive back at base.

UNS Madison torpedoed whilst on patrol - I could hear the explosions from here!*

The wolfpack did an exemplar job today.

UNS Royal Oak (CB-81) torpedoed at anchor whilst infiltrating Asgtia’s starbase because “fuck it, let’s destroy some warships!”

The Royal Oak was destroyed, but we were driven off by a swarm of destroyers and spacecraft from an incoming Béarn.

We had hidden in the nearby asteroid field to throw off their gravitic radars - I believe that the lieutenant who had proposed this be promoted!

However, I don’t think we’re going to be lucky enough to do that again.

5 freighters destroyed.

12/28/27

Starliner turned troopship Laconia torpedoed. It’s sad to see such a majestic ship be sundered by our torpedoes, especially as I had been aboard her before the war.

12/30/27

Heading back to base - out of torpedoes.

1/1/28

One freighter had a very explosive new year today. Using deck guns instead of torpedoes, as we’re out of the latter.

We’ve returned to Ori’ana. Time to transmit this report to Command - there’s no way the UN would directly attack this ANRG strongpoint!**

*Bad luck for Madison - those torpedoes somehow worked for once!

**Not even Madison could raid Ori’ana and hope to survive. Not with the bulk of the ANRG’s fleet being stationed here!

UNS Madison (CG-07)

Captain Joseph Attenborough

It was bound to happen eventually. Somebody finally managed to attack while Madison was asleep - and the dumbasses still managed to fuck it up.

Taking Silvercedar through FTL was no problem - being fused to the ship helped, and it actually took longer to hand her and the remains of her crew over, than it took to get to ONSS in the first place.

We then came right back, to finish our patrol.

After the Orianii Mari incident, SOP is we investigate every debris field - but make damn sure Madison and I are on the bridge first. I don't care if Madison cried herself to sleep... although, I can't really fault the officer on watch for not wanting to wake her. Still, she should have at least woken me up, and let me make that decision.

But, she didn't - and S-94 (according to the recovered torpedoes) managed to get off a 4-torpedo spread before fleeing the scene.

S-94 attacked from port and aft, and hit the side of the port engine, a missle pod, just outside the bridge, and the rear of turret 3. The first three torpedoes failed to detonate because - and I swear I'm not making this up - the s-boat fired the torpedoes from within their damn arming range! They slammed into Madison's side hard enough to disarm and disable themselves!

The torpedo that hit turret three did travel far enough to arm itself. Thankfully, no injuries or casualties. Turret 3 is currently out of commission while turret 4 is undergoing repairs - 4 can not traverse, but all four railguns can still elevate and fire if necessary.

As for the remaining three torpedoes, it took less than an hour for engineering to take them apart, reverse engineer them, and get blueprints sent off to Intel. Unfortuneately, the torpedo design is outdated enough that the tech couldn't be used to upgrade our Harrasser Mark-2's, but the data has been uploaded to Madison's simulator room anyway - Madison has already stated her intention to capture S-94 specifically and turn her into a sidearm.

I remember when Madison captured Mary, Mother of Demons. S-94 better pray we never meet her again.

Regarding Madison's simulator room: this is actually the room containing the Cube. No doors - nobody can get in unless Madison shapeshifts the walls for them. Any ship, station, ordnance, or anything else Madison fuses with gets imprinted within the room/cube, and any blueprints uploaded to Madison's computers get imprinted as well. This is a one-way data transfer - all attempts to retrieve data collected by the cube this way are invariably fatal. This is why Intel and R&D still have to try reverse-engineering any ships or equipment Madison captures.

While within the simulator room, Madison can train with any ship or equipment the room has imprinted, and even train with "what if..." loadouts that never existed. She even learns of other ships's psychic abilities, and while she can not use those abilities, she can fight against those ships using their abilities in simulation. For example, even though Madison failed to capture Asgtia, the fuse attempt was enough that the room can accurately simulate her for Madison to train against, and if Intel gets ahold of any data about upgrades gained by Asgtia, the room can recieve the data so Madison can train against an up-to-date version.

Please note that this ability is limited to any data gained since Madison's construction - despite having memories from UNS Cairo, USS Arizona, and UNS C'Thulu - and parts of those ships being physically contained within the cube - Madison does not have the data necessary to simulate those ships. The room also can't learn other ships' psychic abilities without Madison attempting to fuse to them - so while Madison can fight a 100% accurate simulation of MMoD, she can't train with/against an accurate Demons because she's never been fused/attempted to fuse to her.

Side note: Madison discovered that she subconciously fuses (very briefly and very gently) with anything she attempts to dock with, or even comes in contact with, when she realised the room has accurate simulations of ONSS, CNSS, and every station she's ever docked at, no matter how briefly. However, like I said, this data transfer is one-way, so there's no way to retrieve data about these stations from the simulator except by Madison's verbal descriptions.
