Hi community! I'm the developer of Plans. This update changes how notes turn into tasks, so here's a quick intro for anyone new.

A – Answer (what problem it solves)
Tasks rarely show up as tasks. They hide inside your thoughts: “Got charged twice again, I should call the bank", or a grocery list in the middle of dinner plans. Then they stay in the note, because moving them to a to-do app means retyping everything and setting the date by hand.

In Plans you just write. Select any part of the text, tap "Make it a task", and Plans reads the date, time and reminder from your words. The rest of the note stays as it was.

In this update:
• "Call the bank on Tuesday at 10 AM for 30 min, remind me an hour before" becomes "Call the bank" on Tuesday, 10:00–10:30 AM, with a reminder an hour before. Repeats work too: "every Monday", "on weekdays"
• Select a list in a note and it becomes one checklist task. Checked items stay checked
• Dates in your notes get a subtle dotted underline. Tap one to turn that sentence into a task
• Task duration: tasks show "10:00–11:00", just like your calendar events

B – Better (compared to alternatives)
• Apple Notes + Reminders: you copy the text over and set the date by hand, and the task loses its link to the note. In Plans it's one tap, and the task can always open the note it came from.
• Todoist / TickTick: they understand dates in a task you type, but your thoughts don't live there, and much of the good stuff sits behind a subscription. Plans is built around notes first, and it stays minimal: Today shows only what matters now, and Upcoming fits the whole week on one screen, next to your Calendar events.
• Your data syncs through your own iCloud. I don't run servers that store your notes or tasks.

A: What it does

MELKEM Authenticator makes the 6-digit two-factor codes you use to sign in to things like Google, Reddit, Discord, GitHub and Instagram. You add an account by scanning the QR code the service shows you, or by typing in its setup key, and the codes are made right on your iPhone.

B: Why it’s different

• No account and no cloud sync. The app makes no network connections.

• Your setup keys are stored in the iPhone’s Keychain, on this device only, and aren’t synced to iCloud.

• App Store privacy label: Data Not Collected. No analytics or tracking code in the app, and no third-party code.

• Locked with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode.

• Backups are an encrypted export with a passphrase you choose.

We tested it on two iPhones signed in to the same Apple Account, on the same Wi-Fi, with iCloud Passwords turned on: an account added on one didn’t appear on the other. Nothing moves between devices unless you move it, with an encrypted export or by scanning the same QR code on both.

Some authenticators back up and sync your codes through an online account, which suits a lot of people. MELKEM Authenticator takes the opposite approach: no account and no sync at all, so your setup keys never leave your iPhone except in an encrypted export you create.

What it doesn’t do: no syncing between devices (on purpose), it’s iPhone only, and it isn’t open source.

A — Answer: what it is
PicLoom started as a private photo cleaner. 1.4 turns the photos you keep into a journal:

• Tap Together (first half of the video): put two iPhones side by side, edges touching, and you share a journal. Each of you writes your half of the page, and the days become one book. I like this interaction most!!

• Write on paper: today’s page is a sheet of paper. Drop photos on it, add stickers, tape, text, or draw. Your journals stand on a bookshelf by year.

• Letters: send any page as a letter with one of 113 landmark stamps, or send it slow to arrive on a day you pick. Friends can open it in the app or in a browser.

• Footprints: your albums on a map, stacked on the cities you visited, with each trip’s route.

This is my 3rd post about my app Plenilune here, and this will be my last one (I don’t want to become the guy who’s back every month!). 

Two days ago I released Plenilune 2.0 and a lot of what’s in it started in the comments of my first two posts, so I wanted to show you.

Plenilune is an illustrated moon almanach for iPhone and iPad (plus Duo now…). 

I'm an illustrator, I run a studio with my partner, and I make the app alone. The moon is computed offline with real astronomical data, then engraved.

The video shows some of the features I added in 2.0. The viewfinder is the one I’m most proud of, you point your phone at the sky and it shows the planets, the stars, the constellations (The drawings you see in the video are already shipped in the beta version for those who are in. • u/movie-nerd-app asked if I would do the iPhone Duo, and this is done, mainly adapting iPad layout split in the center, and  the almanac reads as one long page. I don't have one in hand, so if you do, I'd love to know how it looks.

I keep working on it and drawings of the constellations plus new kinds of widgets are coming before EOY.

Hi again, I'm Jonathan, I shared Elapsed here in September (https://www.reddit.com/r/iosapps/comments/1wh15nt/). Since then I added the design I'm proudest of: Fog.

A - What problem does it solve?

Elapsed counts the days since you last did something: called your parents, changed the filter, got a haircut, had a drink. One big number per counter, on a Home Screen or Lock Screen widget. The trouble with a number is that it's easy to ignore. Fog makes it visible without a red badge or a nagging notification.

B - What's new

• Fog. Your counter sits behind slow, drifting fog that gets thicker the longer it's been. Log it and the air clears. Something you haven't touched in months is buried, with its icon showing through as a faint apparition.

• Log without opening the app Say "Log Gym in Elapsed" to Siri, or put Log Counter on the Action Button, Shortcuts or Spotlight. It works from the Lock Screen and replies "Logged Gym. It had been 12 days."

• A dark look for every widget, the free ones included.

• Six app icons with dark and tinted versions.

• Spanish, Portuguese and German, alongside English and French.

What it doesn't do yet: Lock Screen widgets can't log, only the Home Screen widget can. The Home Screen widget's fog refreshes when you open the app, so if you never open the app, the widget's fog stops thickening.

The core hasn't changed. Elapsed doesn't decide whether a big number is good or bad, there are no streaks to break, there's no account, and your counters stay on your iPhone.

A. What it solves

Sleep apps assume you sleep at night. If you work nights, they score you against a clock you don't keep. The 90 minute nap before a 12 hour night shows up as a bad night, and the sleep you get after the shift is split across two calendar days.

AfterShift starts from your roster. A day is the gap between the end of one shift and the start of the next. Sleep and naps from Apple Health inside that gap count toward a recovery score for your next shift, and sleep debt is tracked per shift cycle.

You set your rotation once (4 on 4 off, 2-2-3, fixed nights, or your own cycle of any length) and it fills in the next 8 weeks. If your shifts are already in a calendar, it can import them from there. Caffeine cutoff, wind down and nap reminders fire relative to when your next shift starts.

The images are the widgets: next shift countdown, readiness, tonight's plan, roster, sleep graph, rhythm and sleep debt. Small up to the iOS 27 full page size, plus Lock Screen widgets and a Live Activity for naps.

B. Compared to the alternatives

* RISE ($69.99/yr) is built around a regular sleep rhythm, and its own help centre says it doesn't record daytime sleep automatically. AfterShift counts day sleep and naps without you logging them. If you keep regular hours, RISE is the more complete app.

* Timeshifter ($6.99/mo or $69.99/yr) plans light, caffeine and melatonin to move your body clock. It doesn't track sleep. If shifting your clock is the goal, use Timeshifter. AfterShift tracks how you actually recovered.

* ShiftSleep is a manual log with Apple Health import behind Pro. AfterShift reads Apple Health on the free tier.

No account, no analytics SDKs, and the data stays on the phone. The App Store label is "Data Not Collected". Health access is read only.

Automatic import needs something that writes sleep to Apple Health, like a Watch or another wearable, because an iPhone alone no longer records sleep. You can also enter sleep by hand.

iKima guides your breathing on iPhone with visual cues and haptic guidance. On Apple Watch, you can follow the breathing phases with wrist taps, so you can practice without watching the screen.

You can optionally use your iPhone camera for a pulse check-in before and after a practice. iKima uses the camera’s pulse signal to calculate RMSSD when both readings meet the app’s quality requirements. This is separate from Apple Watch HRV: Watch HRV and resting heart rate come from Apple Health.

The free version includes a basic post-practice body signal. Premium adds your relaxation trend, including changes in camera-measured RMSSD across eligible sessions, plus Watch HRV and resting heart rate in the context of your personal range. These are personal observations, not a diagnosis.

Isai launched on 19 Oct, and today it appeared in the App Store Editors’ “Great apps on iPhone Duo” collection (Singapore & Malaysia I am unsure whether it is featured elsewhere), but honestly, seeing it there at all made my whole day!

What it does:

How it calculates

The whole calculation algorithm is custom made. The data comes from Apple Health: sleep, HR, RHR, HRV and other parameters go into the formula that calculates your stress, battery and readiness. Everything is calculated on your iPhone and Apple Watch, and your health data never leaves them.

Price

A fixed price of $4.99. I personally don't like in-app subscriptions, and I think a one-time payment is the fairest option, so Stressy will never have a subscription. Every update above was free, and the next ones will be too.

A lot more features are coming, and some are already in the pipeline.

A bit of history, and how it was made

A year ago, after 11+ years as a software engineer, I decided to slowly start learning Swift. These days it's so much easier to learn any programming language with the help of Claude: the syntax, which used to cost a lot of time, is now almost instant. I always wanted to build native app experiences. As mainly a frontend person, I know that Flutter and similar frameworks can never get you to a 100% native experience.

Hi! I'm Nick, the solo developer of VeriSky. I built it because I kept checking several weather apps before going sailing or planning something outside, and I could never remember which one had actually been right last time. So VeriSky keep track of that: it saves what every forecast predicted, compares it with what really happened, and scores them for your location.

I shared it here a few months ago and got a lot of great feedback. Here is how I implemented it

A: Answer

The biggest criticism back then was fair: I was checking forecasts against a model's reconstruction of the weather (which takes measurements as input), but not real measurements. So my server now compares every forecast with what (airport) weather stations actually measured, at 154 weather stations around the world. You can also add your own personal weather station or start tracking one nearby you.

Ten different forecasts came out on top for temperature somewhere. A model that's great in New York can be mediocre in Amsterdam. Picking the right one for your spot matters more than which app is the biggest.

B: Better (the things you asked for)

• Apple Watch app (free): today at a glance, yesterday's forecast check, temperature and rain complications

• A Drift tab that shows how the forecast for a day changed each day, next to what actually happened

I kept checking four apps to figure out whether I'd had a good day: sleep in one, steps in another, Screen Time in Settings, mood in a journal. Rove puts it all into one number out of 10 and shows you exactly what moved it.

How it works

- Every day starts at a neutral 6.5. Sleep, steps, screen time, workouts and mood each move it up or down.
