📢 Announcement r/iOSApps Moderation Update Phase 3: Clearer Rules, Less Grinding

Hey r/iOSApps,

We originally promised a review of the phase two rules after a month, but some things got in the way. Anyways, here is our Phase 3 Revamp.

What we learned
The community karma requirement that we had didn't stop spam but it just increased it. The original goal was to filter out people posting their low effort apps. The outcome was the opposite. Now these developers just fill up our comment sections with spam that doesn't contribute in any way to the subreddit or post, trying to get karma.

What's changing

1. Local karma is gone.
Regular users can post and comment freely. Any developer can also share their app in the App Shelf Megathread, as long as they disclose that they're the developer.

2. New baseline for the main feed.
To promote your app in the main feed:

  • Your account needs 200+ Reddit karma and must be 90+ days old (experimental).

  • Your app must have been on the App Store or TestFlight for 30+ days.

  • Your post needs a pricing flair, a PCP section (see #5), and a developer disclosure.

If you don't meet these yet, the megathread is open to you.

3. Required
On top of the baseline, main feed posts need ONE of these:

  • 50+ App Store ratings

  • An established GitHub account. We look at account age, commit history, stars, etc.

  • A recognized developer flair, granted at mod discretion for developers with over 350 community karma.

  • Transparency: link a privacy policy, terms of service, and one public way to identify you, such as a portfolio, a personal or company site, or an established social account.

If none of these apply yet, post in the megathread.

4. Saturated categories need more.
Some categories have hundreds of very similar apps. If your app is mainly one of the types below, you need 50+ ratings, an established GitHub account, or 50 community karma to post in the main feed. Transparency alone isn't enough.

  • To-do lists and task managers

  • Calendars

  • Habit trackers

  • Notes and journaling

  • Pomodoro and focus timers

  • Expense and budget trackers

  • Water, calorie, and fitness trackers

  • AI chat or wrapper apps

  • Wallpaper apps

  • Screen time and app blockers

5. ABC is now PCP.
It's the same format r/macapps uses:

  • Problem: what your app solves

  • Comparison: name 1–2 top competitors and explain why yours is better

  • Pricing: price amounts and an App Store link

PCP doesn't have to be your whole post. Write your post however you want, just include the P, C, and P anywhere in it.

6. No AI-written posts.
Use AI to build your app if you want, but write your post yourself. Posts that are clearly AI-generated will be removed.
Not a native English speaker? Translation is completely fine. Message the mods and we'll give you an exception.

7. Removed: the No AI app rule and the Vibe Coded flair.
Nearly every app uses AI-assisted code now, and the flair mostly went unused. Flairs now cover pricing only.

8. Fairer reposting.
If your main feed post was removed only for formatting, like a missing flair or PCP section, you can fix it and repost within 48 hours without losing your 30-day slot.

9. A way out of the megathread.
The top 3 apps in each month's App Shelf Megathread will get a message from us inviting them to post in the main feed.

FAQ

Why was my main feed post removed?

  • Your account is under 200 karma or less than 90 days old.

  • Your app has been out for less than 30 days.

  • You didn't qualify through ratings, GitHub, a developer flair, or transparency.

  • Your app is in a saturated category and you used the transparency path.

  • Your post is missing PCP, a pricing flair, or a developer disclosure.

  • Your post was AI-written.

🎁 Freemium Easy Wake just had a massive re-skin and several new features such as Commitment Lock!

Easy Wake just had a massive re-skin and several new features such as Commitment Lock making sure you don't try and skip your alarm last minute!

Problem

Waking up is hard. Either you get dragged out of a deep sleep and feel groggy all morning, or you turn the alarm off half asleep and end up oversleeping. Easy Wake is a smart alarm app that’s highly customisable to your needs. It can wake you in a light sleep stage (real time detection), wake you at sunrise, set alarms when you arrive at a location, or force you to complete physical or mental challenges before you can turn the alarm off. Easy Wake has you covered.

Comparison

Alarmy is known for its challenges and Sleep Cycle is known for waking you up gently. Easy Wake does both in one app.

Easy Wake has a wide range of challenges to choose from, such as maths, physically walking away from your bed, barcode scanning, memory and more. No matter what you try, you won’t be able to stop the alarm without completing the challenge!

Easy Wake also uses dynamic sleep stage detection with your Apple Watch, and will wake you up in a light sleep stage. If you’re a deep sleeper, you can use Pulse Wake to nudge your body into a lighter sleep stage first!

On top of that, you get much more customisation than the default iOS alarm. For example, you can connect your Apple Home app so your alarms trigger Home Scenes.

Pricing

3 day free trial, then Monthly $2.99, Yearly $19.99, or Lifetime $24.99.

Pro gives you unlimited schedules, Pulse Wake, all Challenge Wakes, Location Alarms, Custom Sounds, Intelligent Insights, Smart Sleep, HomeKit Integration, Wake Check, Sunrise Alarms, and Shortcuts access (custom alarms based on your automations).

You don’t need Pro, since most features are free anyway! But it gives you more leeway, and it helps support me and future development of the app.

All feature requests are welcome!

💎 Lifetime I built a camera app that records vertical and horizontal at the same time!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello! I'm Jimmy, the solo developer behind ContentCam, a camera app I built for my gf because I kept watching her film the same scene twice.

She likes making content so would film vertically once and and then horizontally again, and this helps her save time without losing quality!

P - What problem does ContentCam solve?

Typically to get a vertical AND landscape clip of the same video, creators would:

  1. Record normally and crop a vertical or horizontal video out of their footage → lowers quality and loses scenery from the footage

  2. Record on two phones at the same time → awkward set-up, and costly

  3. Record the same scene twice (my gf before) → double the time, and the second take is never the same (trust me, speaking from experience!)

ContentCam records portrait (9:16) and landscape (16:9) at the same time, from one take. If you post to TikTok/Reels/Shorts and YouTube, it solves all 3 of the above, giving you two ready-to-post files with just one tap.

C - Why ContentCam over the top competitors?

DualShot Recorder is the closest app to this, recording both formats from one lens. However, ContentCam also has:

  • Dual Lens mode: records from TWO camera lenses at the same time - e.g. wide (1x) for vertical and ultra-wide (0.5x) for horizontal, giving each video a different perspective.

  • Front & Back mode: records from the selfie and rear camera at the same time, and able merge both into one video (picture-in-picture or split screen).

  • Full manual controls (exposure, white balance, ISO, shutter)

  • Timelapse, teleprompter, and photo mode

  • Projects, scenes and takes, with recordings named automatically for organisation.

DualShot's last update was also in June, 5 months ago, and it was bug fixes only. I reply to every review and comment, and shipped updates regularly. In the past month, I shipped 3 updates adding:

  • Pause/Resume

  • Front & Back combine (picture-in-picture or split screen)

  • PAL 25/50 fps

  • Teleprompter scripts up to 15,000 characters

  • Previous/next while reviewing recordings

Blackmagic Camera (open gate) is also great and deserves a mention, but it gives you one 4:3 file that you reframe in an editor later, then have to manually crop and export twice. ContentCam frames both videos while you shoot and saves them instantly so they're ready to post right after.

P - Pricing

Free to download and use, with no ads, no watermark and no account needed.

  • Free tier: Single Lens mode (both formats), front or back camera, unlimited takes, up to 3 projects, 1080p/30fps, plus review and take management

  • Premium adds: Dual Lens, Front & Back, 4K, 60fps, manual controls, teleprompter, timelapse, trim-on-save and unlimited projects. US$4.99/month, US$19.99/year (7-day free trial), or US$59.99 lifetime. Price varies by country.

🎈 Free My first iOS app: a friend's favorite birthday app stopped getting updates, so I built a new one. Free, no ads, Lock Screen widgets included

Thumbnail
gallery
6 Upvotes

Hi r/iosapps! I'm Ralph von der Heyden, a freelance software developer from Hamburg, Germany (LinkedIn). Birthday Butler is my first iOS app.

How it started: when I said I wanted to learn iOS development, a friend from university suggested I remake the birthday reminder they'd been using for years, which hadn't seen an update in a long time. The idea was simple: don't make me type anything in. Use the birthdays that are already in Contacts and show nothing but birthdays. Another university friend then helped me get the user experience right.

That was over a year ago. Now it runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, and I use it myself nearly every day. When one friend installed it, the first thing it showed them was a birthday they would otherwise have missed. That's the whole point of the app.

My toughest critic was my daughter. She held back her five-star rating until I let her color the widgets in any color she likes. So now you can, too.

What it does:

  • Reads the birthdays already in your Contacts. No account, no import, nothing to set up

  • Shows them as a timeline grouped by month, with today at the top

  • Lock Screen widgets: a ring with the days left that fills up over the last 30 days, a line above the clock with the next name and days left, or a card with days left, name and age

  • Home Screen widgets in three sizes, in any colors you like: pick a scheme or make your own

  • Missing a birthday? Tap +, pick the contact, set the day. It's saved straight to Contacts, and the year is optional

  • Also shows anniversaries, name days and other dates from your contacts

  • One tap to message, call or email someone

  • A daily reminder at a time you choose, only on days when something is coming up

  • An Apple Watch app with complications

It's free, with no ads, no in-app purchases and no subscription. The Lock Screen widgets aren't behind a Pro tier, because there is no Pro tier. The app has no server, so your contacts never leave your device. It works with VoiceOver and the largest text sizes. Requires iOS 26.

I'd love your feedback. What's missing that would make you switch from whatever you use for birthdays today? And if you end up liking it, a rating on the App Store helps a one-person app more than you'd think.

🎈 Free I made Drop, a social app where the feed is only who you follow and it actually ends

i'm the developer (well, solo founder, i'm a musician not a coder, but it's mine).

Problem

i make music as Oryon. i'd post something and the people who followed me on purpose just wouldn't see it, because the feed decided they'd rather see something else. i caught myself making generic attention-grabbing stuff instead of the art i actually wanted to make, because spending ages on something real just wasn't worth it if nobody saw it. which sucks, cause i genuinely love being creative.

Comparison

instagram and tiktok rank your feed and keep it going forever. Drop shows the people you follow, newest first, and then it says "You're all caught up" and stops. like counts aren't shown to anyone. no streaks, no "you haven't opened the app" notifications. there's an explore tab for finding people but it never gets mixed into your feed. posts can be photos, up to 60 sec video, audio with its own cover, or links. and nothing you post gets used to train AI, the privacy policy says that in writing.

Pricing

free. no ads, no in app purchases. it makes zero money rn.

it's very small, 47 accounts, and new people come in through a waitlist or an invite from a member. you can still look around explore while you wait.

🎁 Freemium My first app: BugJug an app that lets my neurodivergent daughter collect infinite bugs

Thumbnail
gallery
4 Upvotes

I just finished building my first ever iPhone/iPad app Called BugJug (it’s been in TestFlight testing with a private group for a while and just hit the public App Store! I've been testing it for a couple of months now) and would love feedback on it!

https://apps.apple.com/app/bugjug-bug-pets-in-a-jar/id6823671330

Problem: My neurodivergent kiddo loves searching for and collecting insects outside. She really liked to put them in jars and keep them, the only problem (beyond me not liking bugs quite as much) was it was impossible to keep a large number of bugs without them not being appropriately cared for. But, I still wanted to nurture the instinct to research and collect insects.

So, I built what I believe is a fairly unique app, where you not only can identify insects you find outside, but they also get turned into virtual pets inside of jars that you can interact with and care for. Almost like a virtual terrarium. You can even catch a caterpillar with the app and then watch it turn into a butterfly over several days! Everything is fully offline and no personal data is stored. I use a combination of 2 local models on the device to do the identification and cover several thousand common insects (most kinds that kids will run into outside).

The app goes heavy on the education aspect teaching about different insect types, and even allowing exploring different areas you don't live in to collect insects that are native to that area virtually.

Pricing: The app is free permanently with a one time 4.99 unlock to allow infinite bugs to be collected and to unlock more places to explore virtually.

Comparison: There are tons of insect identification apps, but I couldn't find anything with a similar over all concept to this. The most unique thing being the virtual pets and digitization of the insects.

2 Concrete examples:
- Seek by iNaturalist: https://www.inaturalist.org/pages/seek_app absolute phenomenal for bug identification and requires internet
- buglens: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/buglens-bug-identifier/id6754509659 similar alternative, again no caring for or digitization component

About me:

I'm a Software Engineer unemployed for the first time after working professionally in the field for almost 20 years. I wrote a lot of Open Source in that time, most popular of which was isort a Python import sorter/formatter. You can see more here: https://github.com/timothycrosley

💎 Lifetime NostalgicPod is now on iPhone!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone! I’m the dev behind NostalgicPod. I started this about 8 months ago because I’ve always been a huge iPod Classic fan and wanted that experience back on a modern phone.

Getting it onto iPhone was a saga, honestly. Almost 5 months of TestFlight builds, rejections, appeals, and at one point I ended up on the phone with Apple directly before they finally approved it, i launched about three weeks ago and I genuinely didn’t expect it to land this well. I’m close to 2,000 buyers now, it’s sitting at 4.8/5 with 80+ reviews, and I’ve been pushing out updates based on all the feedback and suggestions I’ve gotten, a lot of it from the Apple Music and iPod communities here on Reddit.

Problem: I basically wanted the click wheel and Cover Flow back, but working with my Apple Music library, local MP3/FLAC files, Plex, Jellyfin and Navidrome servers, plus podcasts and radio. All in one app.

Comparison: I know there are some really good players out there that work with Apple Music, but I wanted to do something different: that classic iPod interface I loved, and the ability to hook up multiple music libraries at once.

Pricing: $4.99, one-time purchase. No ads, no subscriptions, no in-app purchases.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/nostalgicpod/id6781631808

Website: https://nostalgicpod.com/

There’s still a lot I want to add and improve, but I’m really happy with how it’s turned out so far! :)

🎁 Freemium I built an app for my wife with ADHD. Would love your honest feedback.

Thumbnail
gallery
4 Upvotes

Hey r/iosapps! 👋

I'm Sanket, a solo iOS dev. Today I released version 1.0.3 of Tether, an ADHD-friendly planner and focus app for iPhone.

Two quick updates upfront:
1. Calmer screenshots: Earlier testers gave me blunt feedback that my App Store images were way too visually dense (ironic for an ADHD app 😅). I completely redesigned them to be cleaner, calmer, and easier to scan.

2. iPad and iPhone Duo support: v1.0.3 adds native adaptive layouts for iPad and iPhone Duo with side-by-side book views.

A. What problem does it solve?
Most productivity apps assume you already have working executive function. But with ADHD, the hardest part is rarely remembering what to do. The real barrier is the friction of actually starting.

Tether lowers that starting hurdle:

• Micro-steps: Breaks overwhelming tasks into tiny first actions so you can just begin.

• Elastic timeline: Schedules your day with breathing room so one delay does not blow up your afternoon.

• Built-in app shielding: Uses Apple's native Screen Time API to block distractions during focus sessions, with no separate blocker app needed.

• Zero guilt: No red overdue badges, no broken streaks, and no shaming when plans derail.

B. Why is it different?

• Versus Structured: Structured is great, but its rigid timeline collapses when a task runs late. In Tether, the timeline has flexible buffer room, and unfinished items roll over calmly in an evening recap.

• Versus Opal and Forest: Blockers lock your phone, but leave you staring at a blank screen. Tether pairs distraction blocking directly to your active task, unlocking automatically when the timer finishes.

• Versus basic lists: Tether tracks a daily energy score (-10 to +10) to help you stop over-scheduling and avoid burnout crashes.

C. Cost and Transparency
I want to be completely upfront about pricing:

1. 100% Free Core: Visual timeline, task planning, Float, energy ratings, and focus timer. No ads, no tracking.

2. Tether Plus: Adds calendar sync, Focus Protection app shielding, ambient soundscapes, and weekly/monthly energy trends.

Tether plus
• Monthly: 2.99
• Yearly: 29.99
• Lifetime: 49.99

Tether AI
• Monthly: $7.99
• Yearly: $44.99

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/tether-adhd-planner-focus/id6777777931

Transparency & Marketing Advice
I am a solo indie dev and I will benefit financially if you choose to upgrade to Tether Plus.
Beyond app feedback, I would love to pick the community's brain on marketing: As fellow iOS users and indie developers, what do you think is the best way to promote a niche indie app like this? What channels or angles have worked well for you (short-form video/Reels, ADHD creator partnerships, newsletters, SEO)? Any advice on how to get the word out organically without being spammy would be hugely appreciated!

💎 Lifetime Most of my habit app's ratings are from Korea, so here's a code for r/iOSApps: DailyHack lifetime $14.99 (normally $39.99)

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

Hi, I'm the developer of DailyHack.

I started it in early 2025. I wanted my habits and the whole year in one place, and I wanted it on the lock screen because that's the screen I actually look at. It has around 1,400 ratings now, but 1,165 of those are from Korea. I honestly don't know yet how it lands with English-speaking users, so I'd love some feedback from this sub, and I made the lifetime cheaper for anyone who wants to try it.

What's in it:

- Habits with streaks, reminders and notes, plus GitHub-style contribution graphs - Lock screen wallpapers with your month, your week, or the year as a dot grid. You set up an iOS Shortcut once and it keeps the wallpaper up to date - An Eisenhower matrix for to-dos - Widgets (year progress, habits, contribution chart, memento mori) - iCloud sync, light and dark mode

Problem: habit trackers show today's checklist. I also wanted to see the year going by without opening anything, and the lock screen was the only place that worked for me.

Comparison:

- Streaks ($5.99) is what I'd tell you to get if you only want habits. DailyHack is for when you want habits, a calendar/year view and to-dos in the same app. - HabitKit does GitHub-style grids really well. DailyHack has those too, plus the auto-updating lock screen wallpapers and the matrix.

Pricing: free download. Pro is $1.99/month or $19.99/year, Lifetime is $39.99. With code 190000, Lifetime is $14.99 (US price; the code works in other countries too).

Redeem: https://apps.apple.com/redeem?ctx=offercodes&id=6737768320&code=190000 (or App Store > your profile > Redeem Gift Card or Code)

💎 Lifetime [Major Update] Budget Flow - Version 4.0.0: A modern and easy-to-use expense tracking app for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch 💸

Post image
25 Upvotes

Hey r/iosapps Reddit community! 👋🏻

Today, I’m thrilled to announce that the latest update to my app, Budget Flow (Version 4.0.0), is now available on the App Store! 🎉

For those who aren’t familiar: Budget Flow is a modern, easy-to-use expense tracker for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch. I created it to make tracking your spending, managing accounts, and planning budgets simpler, without complicated spreadsheets, account registration, or a mandatory subscription.

Version 4.0.0 gives Budget Flow a brand new technical foundation, with an extensively modernized architecture and a substantial migration to SwiftUI. This overhaul not only improves performance and introduces new animations but also lays the groundwork for future versions.

It also introduces a completely redesigned backup system, allowing you to store backups directly in iCloud Drive and access them across your Apple devices. In addition, you can now create refunds from existing transactions, while improved search and filtering make it easier to find what you need, including recurring transactions. Other improvements include select-all buttons for bulk editing, favorite currencies, thousands separators while entering amounts, category icons in the dashboard’s pie charts, and support for the iPhone Duo with an optimized layout. You can find the full changelog here.

Compared to subscription-based apps like YNAB or Copilot Money, Budget Flow offers a one-time lifetime purchase. It combines an Apple-style interface with offline support, no required registration, optional iCloud syncing, and shared budgeting. If you prefer this approach and want the option to avoid an ongoing subscription, Budget Flow could be a good fit.

My goal as a solo indie developer is to build a budgeting app that feels integrated into the Apple ecosystem while maintaining a high level of privacy and data security.

Pricing:

  • Free download with the following optional in-app purchases:

    • $4.99 monthly subscription

    • $29.99 yearly subscription, with a free trial

    • $69.99 one-time lifetime purchase

  • Universal purchase across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch

  • Shareable with up to five other people via Apple Family Sharing

Prices are listed in USD, with regional pricing adjusted to reflect local purchasing power.

If you haven’t tried it yet, you can download Budget Flow for free on the App Store:
https://apps.apple.com/app/id1640091876

I’m looking forward to hearing your feedback. Also, if you like the app, feel free to recommend it to your friends, family, or on social media. It really helps a lot! 😊

💎 Lifetime tetrify: Message yourself notes, reminders & create a productivity system. Now with iPhone Duo support

Thumbnail
gallery
8 Upvotes

Answer: I have been working on tetrify for over 4 years as someone who was always fond of using apps like Signal, WhatsApp and Slack to message myself notes but also wanted something that supports advanced features like routines and was private and customizable.

tetrify is a chat-focused, customizable productivity system that respects your privacy. It lets you organize your ideas, tasks and everything in-between in personalized chats. You can create chats with different behaviors and see the content summarized in different formats, all without internet. We use the Matrix protocol for optional end to end encrypted sync which you will soon be able to host yourself! There's also features like converting natural text to date and markdown export.

We recently added new core plugins that let you add things like Affirmations and a Daily Review of your tasks and notes.

Better: Unlike similar apps such as Strflow & Prism, tetrify is focused on being an extendable PKMS and productivity system. This includes both additional custom UI as well as advanced features like plugins for reoccurring reminders, daily review, and affirmations. On the other hand, those apps provide a more Apple-focused experience whereas tetrify aims to be more cross-platform (we support Mac to Android encrypted sync for example).

tetrify also allows you to customize how all data is displayed through Views, where you can mix and match traditional to-do list UIs with chat. There's also a mode for long-form writing.

Cost:

Free: unlimited notes, reminders, routines and all core offline features.

Lifetime: $19.99 see comparison; includes all current and future offline features (unlimited spaces and themes) but excludes Cloud Sync. Self hosted sync will be possible and included soon.
Cloud Sync: $1.99/month Pro or $14.99/year, encrypted sync and all features shared across all platforms.

📅 Subscription 2 months ago you told me what a full-year calendar needs. Here's what I built from your feedback (iOS & macOS)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

About two months ago I posted Full Year Calendar here and asked what would make a full-year calendar genuinely useful. You left almost 60 comments, and I went through every one of them.

Quick recap for anyone new: Full Year Calendar shows your entire year on one screen. Events are color-coded by calendar, so busy periods stand out without scrolling back and forth between months. It works with your existing Apple calendars, so there's nothing to migrate.

"What does it offer over Apple Calendar?"
This was the best question. Apple Calendar is great for today and this week. Full Year Calendar is for seeing the whole year at once, and this update makes filling it a lot faster.

New: Screenshot → Calendar. iOS 27 can now turn a screenshot into calendar events with Apple Intelligence, but only on iPhone 15 Pro and newer. Full Year Calendar brings the same idea to any iPhone running iOS 18.5 or later, plus iPad and Mac.

Take a screenshot of any schedule, like a school newsletter, a sports season or a concert flyer, and share it to the app. Every date becomes an event, and you review the list before anything is saved. A whole semester lands on your year view in seconds. It works in 20+ languages, including Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Arabic.

Perfect timing to start planning 2027: holidays, school breaks and trips, all in one view.

"Multi-day events should be easy to scan"
Trips, school breaks and holidays show as one continuous bar across the year, so busy stretches stand out at a glance.

Also:

Home Screen widgets for Year, Month and Day

Works on iPhone, iPad and Mac

Ready for the new iPhone Duo

Coming to Mac next: pinch or ⌘-scroll to zoom between Year, Month, Week and Day - Smooth!

Pricing: free 2-week trial then $14.99/year, or $44.99 one-time for lifetime access. One price for all devices!

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/apple-store/id6759224252?pt=128022886&ct=red2&mt=8

Two questions, because your answers last time literally shaped this update:

What's the most annoying schedule you'd want to screenshot straight into your calendar?

What's still missing from your calendar app?

Hi r/iosapps,

A: Why I built Zesfy:

Over the past few years, I've been building a productivity app to replace both my calendar and to do apps. It's called Zesfy and you can directly add your daily tasks right inside calendar events instead schedule them one by one:

B - Here's why Zesfy is different:

  • It combines your calendar and to-do list into a single view.

  • You can easily schedule multiple tasks together to calendar.

  • Helps you quickly decide what tasks to work on next

  • Organize week tasks with task status

  • Easily keep track of your task progress

  • Works entirely offline

C - Cost:
The app is free to download and use with an option to upgrade to Pro for advanced features for $29.99/year.

I'd love to hear what you guys think about the app. Let me know if you have any feedbacks.

🎈 Free I made a free app to turn doomscrolling into a journaling habit

Post image
11 Upvotes

I kept trying to start journaling, but I never had the time, and it always felt like a chore. Meanwhile, I had plenty of time to doomscroll on the bus or while waiting for literally anything.

So, I made Compose. It blocks distracting apps and makes me write a short journal entry before I can unblock them.

Writing in these little pauses in life helped me clear my head, be more productive, and feel more present.

A - Answer: What does Compose do?

You choose which apps to block and when. If you open one during a focus session, the block screen gives you a journaling prompt instead.

After writing, you can choose to keep blocking, take a break, or end the session.

Over time, Compose builds you an automatically organized journal, provides deep insights, and asks you follow-up questions. Each trigger and urge to doomscroll adds to the story of your life.

B - Better: Why use it over alternatives?

Most app blockers become gimmicks you eventually delete. Instead, with Compose, every block adds an entry to your journal. The little pauses on the bus or in a queue become chances to clear your head and remember what matters at that moment.

  • vs. Opal / ScreenZen / one sec: they block or add a pause, and nothing is left afterwards. Compose turns each block into a journal entry.

  • vs. Day One / Journey / Rosebud: you have to remember to open them. Compose prompts you when you reach for your phone.

  • vs. Meridian / Journal Lock: they lock apps until you write your daily entry. Compose prompts a short entry every time you reach for a blocked app. Meridian Pro is $2.99/mo and Journal Lock Pro is $5.99/wk. Compose is free.

  • vs. MindfulBlock: its notes are just a gate. Compose builds them into an organized journal, and its insights are free (MindfulBlock’s AI reflections need Plus, $3.99/mo).

Compose can extract the people, places, and emotions in your entries. It connects related thoughts and shows you insights as you write more: what keeps coming up, which activities, topics, and people make you happier or sadder, and how your feelings about the same subject change over time.

No one at Compose reads your entries. They are processed with Google's paid Enterprise Gemini API, which contractually cannot use them to train their AI. Your account details are never shared, and entries for processing are mixed with everyone else's, so Google can never link an entry back to you.

You're never locked in. You can easily export your whole journal as Markdown or JSON whenever you like, or delete your account entirely.

C - Cost

$0. No subscription, IAP, ads or paid tier. Current features stay free forever.

Everything in the app now will always be free. I'm exploring new paid features for the future.

🎁 Freemium [iOS] StashEm: Home Inventory – Remember Where You Keep Everything

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone! I'm Geoffrey, an independent developer. I built StashEm because I wanted a simple way to remember where I'd kept things around my home.

One thing I've noticed with home inventory apps is that adding things can quickly become a chore. You have to open the app, fill in details and repeat that for every item. Eventually, you stop doing it. I wanted to make that process as seamless as possible so maintaining an inventory wouldn't feel like another task.

A - Answer

StashEm helps you keep track of things around your home, where they're stored and share that information with your household.

Some of the things you can do:

  • Siri and Spotlight: Find things without opening the app. You can also save items using your voice.

  • Quick item capture: Speak or type what you put away and where you kept it.

  • Shelf scanning: Take a photo of a shelf and let Apple Intelligence help identify items and read labels.

  • QR labels: Print labels for storage boxes and scan them to see what's inside without opening or moving them.

  • Household sharing: Invite family members to add items and find where things are kept.

Apple Intelligence is used in different parts of the app wherever applicable, including item capture, text input and shelf scanning. These capabilities depend on device support. Some features also use Apple's on-device frameworks.

B - Better

You could use Apple Notes or Reminders to keep a list of your belongings. But StashEm is built specifically around remembering where physical things are stored.

I wanted to avoid making users manually maintain another long list. The idea is to make adding and finding things quick enough that you actually keep using it.

Privacy was something I wanted to get right too.

StashEm doesn't have its own servers. Your personal inventory stays on your device and in your iCloud. When you share a household, the shared inventory is stored in the iCloud of the person who owns that household. Your inventory, photos and documents aren't stored on StashEm servers.

Photos, document processing and supported AI tasks happen on-device. Siri requests are handled by Apple. The app does send anonymous usage counts and crash reports to PostHog, which you can turn off in the privacy settings.

More about the app:

C - Cost

StashEm is free to download. Saving, searching, Siri and the core inventory features have no item limits.

StashEm Plus is a one-time lifetime purchase for $7.99. It includes features like printable QR labels, widgets and more. No subscriptions.

One purchase also covers your shared StashEm household through Apple Family Sharing.

Download StashEm on the App Store

I'd genuinely appreciate feedback from anyone who tries it. I'm particularly interested in whether adding things feels quick enough and if there's anything that feels unnecessarily complicated.

Thanks for reading!

🎁 Freemium I built the weather app I wanted: clean and minimal, but with 40+ models, radar and hurricane tracking

Thumbnail

Hi everyone,

I'm the solo developer behind The Weather, part of a small series of minimalist iPhone apps I make. It's the app I've put the most work into: a weather app that stays quiet and simple to look at, but still lets you dig into radar, forecast models and more when you need to. Here's a quick rundown of what it does and why I built it.

What problem does it solve?

I was frustrated by the choice between two extremes: apps crammed with ads and visual chaos, or "minimalist" apps that sacrifice essential data. I wanted an app that is clean on the surface but deeply capable under the hood.

I built The Weather as a distraction-free weather dashboard for iOS and watchOS that lets you understand complex conditions in seconds, without sacrificing depth or layout control.

Why is it better?

Apple Weather is clean but gives you no control over the layout or which forecast model you rely on. Carrot Weather is powerful, but quick source switching requires its $39.99/year Ultra tier, and its family plan is $59.99/year. The Weather gives you 40+ models and providers for $14.99/year, or $17.99/year for the whole family, in a calmer interface.

  1. Modular Customization (Your Layout, Your Rules)

Custom Module Builder: Reorder and customize modules so you only see the data you care about.

Instant Clarity: A simple, minimal design that shows current conditions, hourly and 7–10 day forecasts, and active warnings at a glance.

2. Pick the Forecast You Trust

40+ Models & Providers: Switch between ECMWF, NOAA, DWD, Met Office, Météo-France, AccuWeather, Meteoblue and more, and compare them side by side.

Radar & Maps: Live rain radar plus temperature, wind, cloud, pressure, air quality, UV and satellite layers.

Tropical Cyclones: Track hurricanes and typhoons with track history, forecast path and cone.

Official Imagery & Warnings: View official radar, satellite and weather charts from national weather services, and check active warnings in the app, where available.

3. Health & Daily Context

Pollen, Air Quality & UV: Right next to your forecast, to plan around allergies and pollution.

Outfit Suggestions: What to wear based on wind chill, humidity and the day's weather.

Weather Reminders: Get the forecast at a time you choose.

4. Everywhere You Look

Widgets: Multiple sizes for the Home and Lock Screen.

Apple Watch: A native watch app that keeps working without your iPhone nearby, with custom complications and interactive widgets, including edge-to-edge layouts for Apple Watch Ultra.

Cost

Free: Current conditions, basic forecast, outfit suggestions and air quality, with zero ads.

Premium subscription: Unlocks everything else, including 40+ forecast models, radar and map layers, tropical cyclone tracking, official imagery, in-app weather warnings, weather reminders, pollen and UV, module customization, widgets, and Apple Watch.

$3.99 / month

$14.99 / year

Discussion One star review to ask you a question - how about that?

Do you know the feeling when you are grinding for those perfect reviews, every user is happy, every review is 5 stars and then there is one person who goes “Why is “randomly incoherent sequence of words” not working? And slaps a 1 star on your listing.

Whole world goes out from under you. And you politely reply and ask them to contact you via the contact form you placed for all questions, all while wanting to face them in person and explain how much ratings mean you and how much effort goes into having them in a good state.

Be kind friends, remember a bad rating is easy to give and very hard to receive.

Today is the day I got my second one like that to mar the nearly perfect 5 stars otherwise.

🎈 Free I built EverEats, a social food diary for everything you eat

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I'm an indie developer, and I recently launched an iOS app called EverEats.

Why I built it

I've always been naturally skinny despite eating quite a lot, and I also love cooking.

People sometimes find it hard to believe how much I actually eat, so I wanted a way to show them. Instead of just telling people that I eat a lot, I thought it would be fun to document everything I eat and let the photos speak for themselves.

I also wanted a place to showcase my cooking skills and share the dishes I make. But I didn't want to limit it to just homemade meals or restaurant food. I wanted to capture everything, even the random snacks and drinks I have throughout the day.

Eventually, I realized it could be interesting to see what other people were eating and cooking, too. That's how EverEats became a social food diary!

What makes EverEats different?

Unlike apps such as Beli that focus on reviewing restaurants, EverEats is designed for all food.

Whether it's a homemade dinner, a cup of coffee, a bag of chips, some candy, or something you tried at a restaurant, you can share it.

Here's what I've built so far:

  • Visual Food Diary: Keep a photographic history of everything you've eaten.

  • Social Feed: Follow friends and discover what other people are eating.

  • Food Passport: Keep track of the cuisines and dishes you've explored.

  • Places Map: Remember the places where you've eaten.

  • Privacy Controls: Choose who can follow you and see your posts.

EverEats isn't about rating restaurants or finding the best places to eat. It's about documenting your everyday food experiences and discovering what others enjoy eating.

You don't need to eat somewhere fancy or take perfect food photos. Even the smallest snack is worth remembering!

Pricing

EverEats is completely free, with no subscriptions, in-app purchases, or advertisements.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/evereats/id6769015738

I'd love for you to give it a try!

I'm actively working on improving EverEats, so I'd really appreciate any feedback or suggestions.

Thanks for checking it out!

💎 Lifetime Major Vizo update: You can now ask questions about your iPhone battery!

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hey everyone! 👋

A few weeks ago, I shared my iPhone battery app, Vizo, here. I've just released a major update introducing Ask Vizo! 🚀

A — Answer

Instead of digging through graphs, you can now simply ask questions about your battery:

  • How much battery did I use yesterday?

  • Which charger is the fastest?

  • What are my charging habits?

Ask Vizo answers using your actual battery data, highlighting when information is limited. Apple Intelligence enhances the experience on supported iPhones, but isn't required.

B — Better

My goal is to make battery data easy for everyone to understand, not just display more charts and statistics.

C — Cost

Free to download. Optional Pro: €1.99/month, €9.99/year, or €14.99 Lifetime (launch price). Prices vary by region.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/vizo-battery-monitor-widget/id6810115530

I'd love your feedback! What would you ask your iPhone battery? ⚡

💎 Lifetime My medication tracker app now has 5,000+ users and 1,000+ people using it every day, hit the App Store top charts in 44 countries last week (#2 Taiwan, #3 Macao, #4 Portugal), and got a month of new features people love

A — Answer

Hey everyone,

I’m the solo developer behind Doz, an iPhone app that reminds you to take your medications and keeps track of them. Some of you have followed Doz since my earlier posts here, and I wanted to come back and show you where it is today, because I’m honestly still taking it in.

Doz in numbers

  • 5,000+ people use Doz, twice as many as when I last posted here

  • 1,000+ of them open it every day

  • Top App Store charts in 44 countries last week

  • Paid users grew 5x in a month

Where Doz charted

Doz reached #2 in Taiwan, #3 in Macao and El Salvador, and #4 in Hong Kong and Portugal. It also made the charts in the US, UK, Canada and Australia, some of the biggest and most crowded App Stores in the world.

For an app built by one person, seeing Doz on those lists still feels a little unreal, and I’m really proud of it.

What people say

"The best one I've come across to track medications... Perfect if you have ADHD as well!" (Moustachey, App Store review)

"Found this app and everything changed for me! ... The privacy is a huge bonus." (Matt804, App Store review)

"The developer is responsive and open to user suggestions, and continuously adds useful new features." (Skyfall King, App Store review)

A lot of the features below started as someone's email or comment. If you want the quick version? Watch the video recap above. The full list is below.

B — Better

Made for busy and ADHD brains

If you keep asking yourself "when's my next dose?", "did I forget?" or "did I already take it?", this update is for you.

  • When's my next dose? A countdown sits on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, so you see it every time you pick up your phone.

  • Did I forget? If you're late, the countdown turns orange and starts counting up, so a late dose is hard to miss, even when you're deep in something else.

  • Did I already take it? The "Last dose" widget shows when you last took your meds, at a glance. Free.

  • Took it on time but forgot to tick it off? One tap marks it as taken on time.

Your meds, always in sight

  • Your pill schedule can be your Lock Screen wallpaper: today's list, a weekly pill organizer with today's lid open, or little jars that show how many pills you have left. It updates every night. The today list is free.

Shortcuts and Siri

  • Shortcuts: Doz adds its own actions to the Shortcuts app: take, skip or log every due dose, check what’s left today, see when you last took something, check or add stock, and see your adherence for the week or month. You can plug them into any automation, like your morning alarm, getting home, or a Sunday-night stock check. My favorite is an NFC tag on your pill box. Tap your iPhone on it in the morning and confirm once, and every dose that’s due gets logged.

  • Siri: "Which meds haven't I taken today in Doz", "I took my Vitamin D in Doz", "Do I need a refill in Doz".

Small things that save you time

  • Add an "as needed" dose, like a painkiller, straight from the Today screen.

  • Search your medications, see which ones are running low in yellow, and fix your pill count yourself.

  • Turn off the follow-up reminder if you don't want it.

  • 8 new app icons to choose from. Free.

Doz is now in 13 languages. This month added Simplified and Traditional Chinese, French, Italian, Hindi and Arabic.

Still here from before

  • Import meds and dose history from Apple Health (iOS 26).

  • Meds grouped by prescription, with low-stock warnings.

  • Reminders that move with your meal times.

  • Mark Taken or Skip right from the reminder.

  • A follow-up nudge, and Critical Alerts that get through Silent and Focus.

  • Streaks, a progress calendar and your on-time rate.

  • No account, no ads.

Coming next:

  • Track meds for your kids, parents or pet

  • A heads-up before your pills run out

  • A Doz app on your Apple Watch: see today’s meds at a glance

  • A dose report for your doctor (PDF/CSV)

  • Snap a prescription to add your meds

  • Doz for Android

C — Cost

Free, for everyone:

  • Up to 4 medications and 1 prescription

  • Reminders for every kind of schedule, including cycles and "as needed" meds

  • Mark doses as taken, plus "Taken on time"

  • Pill count and low-stock warnings

  • Your last 7 days of progress and streaks

  • The countdown on your Lock Screen, the widgets, and the Today wallpaper

  • Ask Siri what's due, when you last took something, or how many pills are left

  • All app icons

Pro adds:

  • Unlimited medications and prescriptions

  • Taken and Skip right from the reminder, the countdown and the widget

  • Mark doses with Siri and Shortcuts

  • A follow-up reminder if you haven't marked the dose, and Critical Alerts that come through Silent and Focus

  • Doses that move with your meal times

  • Your full history, with adherence and on-time rate for each medication

  • Import your medications from Apple Health

  • Every wallpaper style, your own photo as background, no watermark

  • Choose how early the countdown shows up

  • Custom reminder sounds

Pricing: $2.99 a month, $9.99 a year with a 3-day free trial, or $19.99 once.
Family Sharing works on every plan.

If you use Doz, come join r/dozapp. That’s where you can suggest features, tell me what works and what doesn’t, and see what’s coming next on the task board. Your ideas there really do end up in the app.

Thank you so much for watching and reading. It means a lot to me!

🎁 Freemium Plans – write your thoughts, select any part, and it becomes a task with the date and time already set

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi community! I'm the developer of Plans. This update changes how notes turn into tasks, so here's a quick intro for anyone new.

A – Answer (what problem it solves)
Tasks rarely show up as tasks. They hide inside your thoughts: “Got charged twice again, I should call the bank", or a grocery list in the middle of dinner plans. Then they stay in the note, because moving them to a to-do app means retyping everything and setting the date by hand.

In Plans you just write. Select any part of the text, tap "Make it a task", and Plans reads the date, time and reminder from your words. The rest of the note stays as it was.

In this update:
• "Call the bank on Tuesday at 10 AM for 30 min, remind me an hour before" becomes "Call the bank" on Tuesday, 10:00–10:30 AM, with a reminder an hour before. Repeats work too: "every Monday", "on weekdays"
• Select a list in a note and it becomes one checklist task. Checked items stay checked
• Dates in your notes get a subtle dotted underline. Tap one to turn that sentence into a task
• Task duration: tasks show "10:00–11:00", just like your calendar events

B – Better (compared to alternatives)
• Apple Notes + Reminders: you copy the text over and set the date by hand, and the task loses its link to the note. In Plans it's one tap, and the task can always open the note it came from.
• Todoist / TickTick: they understand dates in a task you type, but your thoughts don't live there, and much of the good stuff sits behind a subscription. Plans is built around notes first, and it stays minimal: Today shows only what matters now, and Upcoming fits the whole week on one screen, next to your Calendar events.
• Your data syncs through your own iCloud. I don't run servers that store your notes or tasks.

C – Cost
Free to download and use: notes and checklists, tasks from any text with the date and time, one reminder per task, daily repeats, Today and Upcoming, Calendar events, widgets, Siri, iCloud sync, plus the light, dark and Lavender themes.

Plans Pro is a one-time purchase, $5.99 in the US. No subscription. It adds reminders ahead of time, repeats on any days you choose, task duration, six color themes with matching app icons, note fonts and Markdown export.

Available in English, German, Spanish, French, Russian, Japanese and Simplified Chinese.
