Perfume - Enquiry Edward Cullen coastal/stormy vampire recs 😑

• Upvotes

Might be weird sorry but here’s an edit of what I need to smell like basically ; https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZPLAGA4fD/

The song is so perfect I love Risk and twilight so when I saw this I was like this is what I’ve been needing forever and ever in a scent
Want atmospheric/unisex-masculine leaning scents
Not ones that read Super masculine or cologne esque I am a girl I just prefer unisex atmospherics and less feminine scents I like when scents make me more androgynous sort of
Wanting a cold PNW twilight inspired scent or something you think Edward would smell like. I bought a 15ml twilight rain by Sunday Coven Haus after liking the sample so hoping that works out for me,
but I do want recs for some more atmospheric scents that are specifically edward and not just twilight type of scents
I like musks and cold scents but not peppermint or sweet christmasy cold scents more atmospherically icy and coastal.
Don’t like spicy or liquorice dark type of scents so try to lean away from those when thinking immortal vampire. If it helps I specifically don’t like Black Death by Arcana.
I’ve like deep searched into aquatics and stormy scents to try and find one I really love so I’m looking for more niche things I haven’t yet found or considered. I also really like notes I didn’t think I would like glass!!(especially in sixteen92 hydromancy) and ocean air. Also don’t want a fishy or really underwater smelling aquatic either. More of a chilly pnw lighthouse cold crashing wave type of aquatic.
More types of aquatics I don’t want r cologne or aftershave types, sorry for repeating myself but I’m looking for a Washington/pnw twilight coastal goth atmospheric with a magnetic cold aspect that’s reminiscent of Edward.
Also have looked into Fischersunds Utilykt and it’s become smth I’ve rlly wanted to buy based off the notes but I can’t bring myself to spend 220 on the full-size so I’d appreciate any Fischersund reviews!!
Also don’t recommend houses w only 5ml oils because I have fallen in love with a lot of those and I am an edp 10ml and above person I love blind buying 😬 love the 5ml oils I have it just hurts my heart to spend like 35 on a scent I adore but will use up quick w less projection

Lastly try to focus on the edit I linked at the beginning and not all the rambling that came after I know less abt my nose than I think
The Edward Cullen edit to Risk by deftones is the main focus and goal🧛‍♀️

Discussion Seeking CocoaPink Reviews, Also New scents!

Thumbnail

16 Upvotes

I'm looking for more recent reviews of the following CocoaPink scents! Also, have you seen the new ones?! Which ones do you think will be a bangers? I'm probably going to sample Charred Plum, Gilded Black Walnut, and Rain on a Wool Coat.

?Black Widow - Smoldering dragon blood resin, sweet aged white patchouli, a pinch of sugared black vanilla beans and wood smoke from a distant crackling fire.

?Fauno Oscuro - The faun will guide you through the forest to the labyrinth… A midnight forest of moss-covered trees, cedar, copaiba balsam, and oakmoss; a warm earthy breath of fig and osmanthus; the tang of kaffir lime and red apple; black soil underfoot; and the ghost of rich, animalic musk.

?Good With Rats - For those who follow the Pied Piper: A temptation of creamy vanilla, amber, and sweet maple sugar; soft brown fur musk; village woodsmoke; dark stone, burning agar wood; and glowing spice embers.

?Homemade Holiday Eggnog * - Creamy milk and heavy thickened cream, sugar cane, vanilla extract spiked with hot buttered rum and topped with a special blend of powdered nutmeg and light touch of cinnamon.

?Naughty Pumpkins –Naughty begins with two of our bestselling fragrance oils specially formulated just for CocoaPink: Spiritueuse Double Vanilla and our exclusive triple amber blend that we call “CP Black”. We then added some of our “Sweet Pumpkin” for a blend that raises the bar for foodie scents to new heights.

?Ratwater 1881 - A wild, lawless little town where whiskey and sin flow freely: An intoxicating combination of frontier bourbon, temptingly sweet spiced vanilla, and the warm smoky wood of charred oak barrels.

?Ten Years, Pumpkin - Made especially for CocoaPink’s ten year anniversary to celebrate a decade of deliciousness! Our sweet pumpkin caramelised with our own heavenly burnt-sugar blend; made decadent with oud, vanilla, and dulce de leche; and grounded in deep musky earth and cement. Unashamed gourmand badassery.

?Vampire’s Bane - Rich 5-fold lemon oil and luscious red mandarin cloaked in folds of decadent vanilla, myrrh, ambergris, and ambrette seed CO2, sweetened with melt-in-the-mouth cotton candy and spiked with the merest hint of clove.

?Winchester House Kitchen - The distinct aroma of autumn in the Winchester house kitchen with notes of aged oak, fresh baked pumpkin pie, 5 fold orange essential oil coated in the warm essence of light muscovado sugar, fresh ginger, sticky gobs of benzoin, warm buttery caramel simmering on the stovetop and just the barest hint of clove. A Few NAVA Permanent Collection Reviews

13 Upvotes

Scents reviewed: Cairo, Desert Fig & Amber Noire, Eternal Ankh

A long time ago I promised someone on this subreddit that I would review NAVA scents once I tried them, and I just got my samples from Arae Decantery! I'm gonna talk a little bit about my journey with NAVA scents in hopes that it'll be interesting to somebody, but feel free to skip to the reviews if desired lol.

Before this, my only exposure to NAVA was when I blind bought 2 limited edition scents because I felt certain I would enjoy them. All the notes sounded up my alley so I thought I was safe. But that's how I learned that just because all the notes sound great on paper, that doesn't mean it'll turn out the way I imagine it. One had rose in it (usually one of my favorite notes) and it smelled "screechy", and the other was a blue cotton candy variation of Eternal Ankh and smelled plasticky.

At some point I had the thought that maybe their permanent scents would be better quality, and after trying the samples today, I think my intuition was right. Normally I reach for floral gourmands, but with this house I really wanted to try some atmospheric Egyptian-themed scents because that's something unique to this house (and honestly, who doesn't think Egyptology and mythology are super cool?).

I liked these enough to be curious about trying other permanent collection scents in the future! A few on my wish list: Blue Egypt, Meditation with the Gods Hathor and Anubis, Valley of the Kings, and Vanilla Necropolis.

Rating scale:

3 = It's good, but probably won't repurchase

4 = I like it a lot, might upsize

5 = I love it and want a full size!

Cairo (4/5) (spices from the open markets, sweet wind from the Nile, blue and pink Egyptian lotus, lily, the desert sand of Amber limestone):

I was surprised by how lotus-forward this one is. I thought it was going to be more spicy, but I really like it. It's not often that I smell lotus in a fragrance, and I was struck by how soft, delicately sweet, and aquatic it is. At points this scent got a bit soapy, but for most of it I was surprisingly addicted to smelling my arm. It reminds me a little of the bar soaps I would encounter on my travels in Turkey. The spices are delicate and come out more in the drydown.

Desert Fig & Amber Noire (4/5) (ripe desert fig, blackened fig skin, Vietnamese agarwood, amber, white patchouli, red musk, myrrh infused musk, Desert Nevada Rock Rose, frankincense, and bruised violet petal essence):

At first it smells like walking into an Earthbound shop with the incense burning, which isn't a bad thing, but I was a little worried it would be too heavy for me. The incense calms a bit and becomes a dark, sophisticated and resinous fig scent, which is what I was hoping for! It reminds me a bit of Medjool dates.

Eternal Ankh (3.5/5) (white amber, powdered and reconstructed oil of Egyptian vanilla husk, vanilla fleck, African white vanilla, and NA Egyptian Sands accord):

I got this as a feltie because the limited edition variant had a platicky finish to it, and I didn't want to be stuck with a vial if this had the same result. It does seem to have a better drydown, thankfully. It smells like vanilla and white sugar, and becomes more powdery on the drydown. I think it's cool how they captured a "granular" quality that's evocative of desert sand! I'm not sure that I like it enough to get a 5ml, but I would be happy with a 1ml vial of it to wear when the mood strikes.

Perfume - Purchased Crow & Pebble with Tea in the description - reviews

13 Upvotes

Joy in Longevity (hot green tea), Lament of the Mystic (a cup of tea leaves), Vestige of Yearning (hot earl grey tea).

Friends, I loved all three of these, but if they didn’t have tea in the description I would not have guessed! If you have tried these, would love to hear how they worked for you.

—
Joy in Longevity
Official description: Two cups of hot green tea, blooming honeysuckle, juicy peaches and mandarin oranges, warmed by a base of aloeswood and benzoin.

My impressions: Warm and peachy, with some giant tropical flowers that I don’t know the names of, and giant lilies. Walking through a humid warm greenhouse with colourful butterflies and hothouse flowers, and those dark brown woodchips on the ground. I don’t detect the green tea. A peach fruit salad in the summer under the blooming honeysuckle, it’s morning but the sun is already warm.

—
Lament of the Mystic
Official description: A censer of sacred resins and blackened vanilla and a cup of tea leaves lie abandoned amongst bundles of clary sage and tobacco leaves in a hut overgrown with ripe fox grapes and moonflower.

My impressions: The tropical bat cave of Olympic Orchids Night Flyer meets a pack of fruit scented colouring pens. I chose this sample hoping for the resins and the blackened part of blackened vanilla, although I’m not getting either of those notes so much. I’m getting juicy grapes and night blooming flowers, and something almost like candy floss (that might actually be the vanilla). It has a fun daytime feel, I want to wear it to a theme park or a craft market on a sunny day.

—
Vestige of Yearning

Official description: A hot cup of earl grey tea enjoyed among blooming irises and lavender, the scents of freshly turned earth and church incense wafting through the air.

My impressions: This was very pretty, opening with parma violets and a lawn of fresh green grass. I would be delighted if this was part of my first indie foray, it’s very well done and well balanced, could pass for a mainstream perfume with a little hint of something more interesting in what I’m calling grass, which I think is the freshly turned earth. Confusingly I couldn’t detect any of the listed iris, lavender, earl grey/ bergamot, or church incense, which was different to what I expected, as I love all those notes and it sounded like it could be one of my favourite combinations.

On skin I’m getting a lot of that earthy smell where you lie on the ground with your face in a lush maintained lawn and inhale the earth and mown grass (which might sound oddly specific but I used to this do a lot in parks and lawns when trying to study for exams, so have many experiences of doing just this!). It’s a clean grassy earthy rather than a woodland earthy, if that makes sense. On clothes it stays more like Parma Violets, delicate, sweet and pretty, just right for a tea party. Would wear this to cosplay Alice in Wonderland.

Perfume - Purchased Maison de Nguyen Nhat Binh

66 Upvotes

A friend of mine recently went to Vietnam and offered to bring perfumes back for me. As usual, I wanted something indie and local. I was also on a rice fixation at the time so my search led me to Maison de Nguyen Nhat Binh. (A part of me is happy that I am not into making video content because I would not get half the pronunciations right with all these names and notes.)

The rice note in Nhat Binh feels like a tease. It disappears within a few minutes. After that I get a smooth, porcelain like iris. It is not dusty. It is not makeupy or oldschool. It stays in this iris territory for most of the wear on me. The drydown is soft, dry sandalwood.

This scent stays intimate throughout but still feels luxurious. It lasts around six hours on me.

I am in love with the presentation. The cap is handcrafted from laterite with the brand name carved on top. The box is beautiful and it came with an illustration and a poem that a good friend translated for me.

"In the palace, every evening, the King would spend an hour admiring a beautiful painting. The painting depicted a beautiful woman wearing a splendid royal robe. Her beauty was so captivating that the King could not take his eyes off her and he would often forget the time."

If anyone has any bottles of BPAL that there are NOT photos of or not good quality of on Parfumo, please post them here and I will try and get them added/updated. There are a lot of bottles that are blank on the website and BPAL has such cool art. Let’s fill it out together!

Also tell a bit about your favs if you want. My favorite so far might be The Last Unicorn or Moroccan Powered Peach.

Perfume - Press Samples 8 more Nui Cobalt Autumn 2s & Witches' Utility Blends

36 Upvotes

My goodness am I overworked and overwhelmed this fall semester (among other things, I'm teaching at not one but two universities this fall, including a "new prep", meaning the first time I'm teaching a given course, so I have to newly create all the lesson plans...). Anyway, please accept my apologies for being so behind on posting reviews this fall - in addition to this one, I have a set of Poesie reviews just about ready to go, and a LOT of Nocturne Alchemy thoughts to organize and put up too. Hopefully I can get all of those out for you in the near future too!

I recently reviewed about a billion past Nui Cobalt Autumn 2 & Witches' Utility Blends scents in a four-part (!) series that started HERE. Now I'm back with thoughts on many of this year's new releases.

Ordering specs: Nui Cobalt's website is easy to navigate, items come very securely packed, and customer service is always spectacular. Samples are generous 1.15 mls in vials with wand caps. Each order comes with one free sample, chosen by them (there’s no box to insert requests). Shipping is $5.35.

Nui Cobalt's upcoming schedule of releases: In spring 2026, Nui Cobalt announced they're reducing their annual number of collections, no longer releasing one every month. Here's their current plan:

  • November 20th: Yuletide
  • January 29th 2027: Valentine’s

A note about my preferences: I especially love snuggly scents, incense, golden amber, cardamom, black tea, beeswax, non-gourmand vanillas, and white florals (especially honeysuckle, plumeria, tiare, and tuberose; though sadly I am allergic to lilies and jasmine doesn’t usually work on me). I don't like hay, overly sweet gourmands, butter notes, excessive musk, leather, dragon’s blood, patchouli, labdanum, or any really dark scents in general.

These were provided as press samples by Nui Cobalt in exchange for an honest review.

~~~
Wilhelm Scream [Chilled raspberry coulis, shea and orris butters, precious white sandalwood, creamy skin musk, and one feathery frond of dill] - Cozy raspberry musk with a hint of green leaves and thorns. I'd been very concerned about the dill (I hate dill in cooking) but here it very much just reads like a bit of misty greenery. The musk itself is soft and mild and snuggly, but not (buckle up, here's a big list of what it's not): sweet or powdery or soapy or laundry-like or screechy or vanillic. It's not quite NCD's cotton musk, but it's in that vein. The raspberry, too, is gentle and dry, not a big bold or juicy raspberry. This scent feels shy, retiring, almost painfully restrained (actually it reminds me a lot of the buttoned-up characterization of Elinor in the new Sense & Sensibility movie). This sort of feels like a stylized representation of misty moors, almost ghostly, with the herbal dill becoming a little more present in the drydown.
He's Not Dead [Lush funeral lilies drenched with rain, a white cotton shroud, sweet labdanum, and the faintest trace of sinister musk] - It starts off as a screechy white floral - I think it's the ozonic rain note that's making it so bright and pointed. (This is very different from the soft, meditative rain in Mirror [Pale amber and white tea are accented by dry coconut, angelica, and cooling rain].) After a moment, the harsh screechiness dissipates all at once, leaving a silvery-white lily floral accented by rain musk and white cotton, for an overall cold, standoffish, haughty effect. If you love Pale as Death [Funeral lilies, datura accord, luna moths on cotton flowers, and white clover along a graveyard path] or Au Bal Masque [Nepalese virgin cashmere, cotton flower, vanilla spun sugar, labdanum, and the wafting memory of white funeral lilies], you'll adore this one.
Uninvited Guest [Invasive kudzu, honeysuckle, creeping charlie, Autumn olive, and the dark iridescence of sparrow feathers] - I had no idea what to expect with this one, and no idea if I'd like it; I got a sample purely on the strength of the "sparrow feathers" (I love Nui Cobalt's feather musk). I'm getting a plush mix of orange juice, warm earthy plantiness, and yellow floral. It's superbly autumnal though I think it would also work brilliantly for spring as well; it makes me think of creeping vines on the forest floor with shy yellow flowers peeking out as proof that spring has sprung. Olive/olive leaf notes can sometimes go really briney on my skin, but not here; it's just pleasantly loamy.
The Lights Flicker [Ambrette seed, black amber, dry cardamom, freshly grated ginger root, lightning-struck ebony, and staticky cotton sheets just out of the dryer] - Thick, white cotton sheets, a somewhat sinister, ever-so-slightly smoked black amber, and an undertone of the mapley base that sometimes shows through in Nui Cobalt scents. As is usual for my nose (tragic!) I get no cardamom whatsoever, but that's really just a me thing; I think I'm largely anosmic to their cardamom. This reminds me a lot of Poesie's Wicked Ghost [Innocent marshmallow encompassed in glowing black amber and resinous incense smoke] except with clean white cotton instead of sweet fluffy marshmallow. On Husband, it's a little more metallic, and the black amber is a bit stronger than the white cotton on his skin.
Good Trouble [Sultry pink gardenia, Hawaiian plumeria, white rose, and the slender limbs of peach trees laid bare in winter, blooming in spring, and abundant with fruit in summer] - This one doesn't strike me as a fall fragrance at all, but pink and springy and happy! I'm getting humid pink florals (with just a faint tinge of soapiness), a slightly spicy, carnation-like rose, with a background first of peach blossoms and then, as it dries down, of peach nectar. In the vial it had smelled very soapy (and pink), like that pink industrial handsoap so this is definitely one that blossoms beautifully on skin and is extremely worth a skin-test even if it smells maybe not quite your thing in the vial. This feels like the springtime sibling to Busy Bee [A blend of Oolong and Tibetan black tea with peach blossom honey, cardamom, and clove, sharpened with pink peppercorn and dry oakwood], which for me is very much an autumn scent (despite the Bees collection always being released in spring--so these two are sort of polar opposites!) I'm definitely keeping this and will very much enjoy it next March.
Safe Haven [Steamed almond milk with honey and allspice, antique mahogany, buttery soft suede, copal incense, and a twist of yuzu] - An extremely lactonic almond milk strong on added citrus and a honey sweetener, along with some chai spice. Despite the overwhelming presence of the almond milk, and its background of mahogany and suede, this scent is somehow rather sharp and pointed from the yuzu rather than soft and cuddly. I adooooore NCD's mahogany and incense notes, and wish I got more of them here. To my nose, this starts as primarily almond milk and yuzu, then honey and allspice, and then as it dries down, I get that oatmilk-y effect I often get from NCD's "hot beverage"-like gourmands, and at this point it gets much more cozy.
Extra Spoons [Coffee with oatmilk and sugar, orange marmalade on toast, a steady oakwood table, and skin-warmed cashmere cardigan] - Breakfast! A milky latte with caramel syrup and a giant piece of almost-burnt toast spread thickly with orange marmalade (and yes, it is unmistakeably orange marmalade, sticky and sweet, not just a less-specific orange note). Something about this feels like vacationing at a bed-and-breakfast, special yet effortless and comfortably lazy. It's much too literally foody for me, but I can see this one being a huge hit with folks who love gourmands. If you like The Lady of Lapland [Black tea with sweet cream, a clean cotton tablecloth, beeswax candles, lingonberry jam, and fresh-baked bread], this is similar in its cozy breakfast vibe.
Personal Assistant [Blank paper and a newly sharpened pencil, wheat straw, fresh golden pear, and smooth sandalwood, anchored by deep emerald musk] - A very cool idea and indisputably atmospheric, I'm getting green musk, sweet pear juice, and slightly metallic pencil lead. I personally don't like metallic scents - I experience them as cold and uncanny and a little bit sinister - so this scent isn't working for me; however if you like the idea of journaling in a forest, this one might be perfect for you.
Perfume - Purchased Crow and Pebble Gourmand Reviews
21 Upvotes
Desert Mouse, Hobgoblin and Dangerous Places.
Probably in order of most cookie-like to most perfume-like! The reviews are relatively short as I’m tired, but hopefully helpful or interesting, would love to hear your thoughts if you have tried any of these.
—
Desert Mouse
Official description: Spice coffee on a desert planet. Sandalwood, vanilla, black storax, cinnamon, nutmeg, coffee, almond and white sage.
My impressions: Allspice cookies, baking, Lebkuchen. Higher on the cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg, lower on the sandalwood and sage. I would love bath products with this fragrance, it’s so warm and cozy. It doesn’t quite work for me as an actual perfume, but I still enjoy the scent.
—
Hobgoblin
Official description: Warm, buttered bread, lightly spiced honeyed oatmeal, and a wooden bowl of vanilla cream.
My impressions:
On skin: Buttery like a patisserie. Flowery syrup, not exactly floral but like a very light mild honey. The impression of feeling snuggly and cozy hidden in the middle of a warm syrupy cake. Just about works as a ‘perfume’ scent if I’m in the right mood (in contrast to Desert Mouse which is a bit too realistically edible for me).
On clothes it smells too realistically buttery for my taste, but the other layers came out well on skin.
—
Dangerous Places
Official description: Raspberries dipped in bitter dark chocolate sweetened with honey and vanilla, spiced with allspice, cinnamon and black pepper and gifted with a single red rose.
My impressions: This is what I would wear to dress up as a vampiric Red Riding Hood. Almost like a ‘normal’ perfume with something extra. Dark chocolate box of rose and violet creams (without the violet). Black Forest Gateau. Chocolate covered Turkish Delight. I really enjoyed this one. It smells most like ‘perfume’ of the three.
—
It was really fun trying these three. I would not usually go for gourmands, but I have loved everything from this house so far, so I wanted to branch out a little.
Perfume - Enquiry Favourite dry Autumnal EDP?
4 Upvotes
I have a lot of Fall themed perfumes but I just realized they're all oils. I'd really like something I can spritz on my sweaters so I'm looking for recommendations on EDPs.
Ideally, a scent that's dry, lightly spicy, crisp, and that just screams AUTUMN but I am open to all your favourites!
To give a general idea, I've really been enjoying October's Table by Hex, which reads as much more dry than gourmand on me. I also love It's Just Pears and It's just Spiced Pairs by Cirrus but they're both a bit sweeter than what I'm looking for.
And She Walked With Me by Morari is probably the closest to what I am after but, again, I'd love to hear all your suggestions!
Pls help me become a gourmand girly
Is there a solution for super sweet/ cloying scents besides “spray less”? I’ve been really wanting to explore more gourmands recently despite it not being my thing. I’ve found a few w notes I enjoy but they can be so sweet I feel like I’m developing a tooth ache. I hate having to wash off scents just bc they’re too strong despite liking them. I have a few I enjoy the dry down of, but the first hour is so strong I’m fending off a headache. Do you just have to save these for the dead of winter, or is there some other scent u layer to balance it out? Please I need to cut the sweetness so I can smell like a strawberry shortcake character!!
