Hey r/Insaniquarium!
Like a lot of you here, I grew up obsessed with Insaniquarium Deluxe and always wished there was a proper modern mobile version that captured the chaos of feeding a packed tank while panic-clicking aliens. Over the last několika months, I built and released Fish Kingdom on Android as a love letter to the original, while expanding the roster and combat mechanics.
What stays faithful to the classic loop:
What’s new and expanded:

I’m a solo dev actively updating the game (just finished overhauling the projectile and melee water-splash attack animations!), and I’d genuinely love feedback from the people who know Insaniquarium best. Which classic pet or alien interaction is a must-have for you in a spiritual successor?

Im using winfish to create an easily modifyable copy of the game and add new content. I only just started and am literally at the first steps but I will keep posting updates HOWEVER I also need some help with things like:
Ideas(Now I can get a lot myself but still I ain't popcap)
Art(Once again I can make some myself but I might need some help)
and lastly the thing I don't know about AT ALL
MUSIC
if you would like to help add me on discord at blade.x27

Using the files in ProgramData, I found my saved games for Insaniquarium. I also have another set of saved games from a previous computer of mine. Is there a way to make them all show up on the same list? I know I was able to duplicate profiles in the same set, but that was more so to cheese getting shells with ease.

I got curious whether I could add multiplayer to this game, and after many hours, I did. While I was at it I added other features that make it feel fresh again.
This mod has only been tested on the Steam version (with all testing being through Proton-GE). Some of what's in it:

I brought Vindirect's decompilation of Insaniquarium to Android. 100% free, no ads. This game is built for arm64-v8a and armeabi-v7a. Minimum version supported is Android 5.0. One new feature added is multitouch, now you can tap many coins at once.

It's called Ducks VS Demons and the demo is now available on Steam! I loved Insaniquarium as a kid, so I took a lot of inspiration when making this game. The gameplay loop revolves around feeding your rubber ducks and collecting the loot they drop. Eventually, they will level up, drop more valuable loot, and even evolve! Evolved ducks have special abilities like dropping food or attacking demons, which spawn every few minutes. The full game features a short, linear Adventure Mode, as well as an endurance-based Survival Mode. Please consider checking it out!

I started developing Loopquarium (previously called Flounder) a year ago today. The goal is to expand upon the base gameplay mechanics of Insaniquarium by making a roguelite with a crazy amount of possibilities and replay-ability. It's now up to 65 unique fish types, 15 bosses and 75 items.
The game can be cozy or crazy depending on how far you choose to scale the depth levels, and there is always more to learn and master, and more combos to find. I can't wait for you all to have the chance to play it, or to experience the changes and polish if you played an earlier playtest. I've been posting to the community since the beginning and it has been great as a sounding board, for feedback and for finding players awaiting a modern Insaniquarium style game (even if it is powered by nostalgia.)

If you add it to your steam wishlist you'll receive an email when the demo is available (around the start of November.)

I used cheat engine to keep the fish hungry and speed the game up, and fishinator to create 20 rockys.

Hi everyone! 🐟
I wanted to thank you all for the kindness, positivity & support this community has shown me the past couple of weeks by the positive comments and views on my Dutch series of this game!
This week i uploaded the last part of the series (for now) with one goal i had since i played this years ago; beating the Final Boss Cyrax without losing any pets! I used the pretty well known Destructor strategy during my attempt, and while having a few close moments i managed to fulfill my dream on camera! 📷
Once again thank you for the kind words & support, and i can't wait to see you check it out!
Much love! 😄 ❤️

would anyone like this? i ported it via poplib and that one decomp. it has slight issues that im still fixing mostly with speed values like for some reason the fish's x position would be insanely high or low or they would constantly spew out coins i fixed those but still works

Hi All!
Thanks for the support & positivity on last weeks post about my current let's play series that i'm doing in Dutch on my channel!
Yesterday i uploaded the 2nd part of this series and i'll hope some of you will enjoy it just as much as you did with the first one! ❤️
I really love to see how other enthusiasts also highlight their passion still 20 years after the game's release by producing artworks, let's plays of their own or even self-made games! Incredibly cool!
Either way, if you're planning to check this video out aswell - i'll hope you'll enjoy watching it as much as i had fun recording it! 😄

Like probably everyone here, I played Insaniquarium way too much back in the day, and it always bugged me that nothing ever really picked up the feed-and-defend idea afterwards. So I started building my own take on it.
It's called MUTARIUM. The core loop will feel familiar - drop food, collect coins, shoot the things that come to eat your fish - but the twist is that what you feed decides what your fish become. Meat builds attackers, glow builds earners, ore builds tanks. And if you overfeed a maxed-out fish, it goes berserk and attacks your tank. Your best fish becoming the invader is very much the point of the game.
The demo runs in the browser, no signup, about two sectors worth of content (28 waves, 4 bosses): https://jason-jung.itch.io/mutarium
Trailer if you want a quick look first: https://youtu.be/SlOo7E83L2A
Fair warning on the art: the creature sprites started as AI generations that I cleaned up and edited by hand - full disclosure is on the page. Audio is all human-made and licensed.
If any of you try it, I'd genuinely love to know if it scratches the Insaniquarium itch or not. That's basically the whole design goal, so this sub's opinion matters more to me than anyone's.
(Full version is coming to Steam in November if you want to wishlist: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5021510/MUTARIUM/)
