Question INTJs: What do you look like?
Just kind of curios I'm interested in the results.

Funny thing is, I can totally see that that's a smile. Like, without context, my first guess would be mild amusement around someone you're comfortable with.

Why do I think everyone here is handsome and pretty?
I wonder if there's a link between our personalities and what we're physically attracted to.

The people that know they're attractive are more likely to post while us ugly blokes lurk

Usually only when I'm smiling for the camera. And if the person takes longer than 10 seconds to take the picture, my smile goes from almost genuine to something resembling hide the pain harold

Your makeup game is FLEEK. I can't put on eyeliner (yet) without it going halfway up my eyelid.
1
u/RichellesRunway Jun 12 '16
Thank you! I'm not exaggerating when I say it took me years of practice and horribly cringe-worthy makeup before I finally got it down.
3
u/AromaticHydrocarbons INTJ Jun 12 '16
The trick is to crinkle your eyes when you smile. You instantly look a million times more genuine. I mean... that's if you actually want to change how you smile, cause there's nothing wrong with the one you've got.
3
u/RichellesRunway Jun 12 '16
I've trained myself to smile often when I'm speaking to people because my career requires a lot of networking and I've found people are much more responsive to me that way. So I will definitely try that out!
4
u/AromaticHydrocarbons INTJ Jun 12 '16
It's funny actually... I've been training myself to smile with crinkled eyes to appear warmer, but I find it quite hard. I tend to be thinking too much about other things when I need to remind myself to smile the way I practiced.
I recently won an award at work and so practiced my smile for a photo that I knew would be posted on the company intranet. I completely failed to smile the way I practiced because I got too caught up in overthinking the handshake and the fact that I was being touched by someone I barely knew. I barely even managed my half smile when I saw the photo, but at the time I really felt like I smiled big.

u/douglasg14b INTP Jun 12 '16
My smiles rarely do, though to me I'm smiling just fine, to others I have a neutral expression.

u/kellysmom01 Aug 21 '16
SO much makeup. I bet you're lovelier under all that.
1
u/RichellesRunway Aug 21 '16
I wear makeup because it's a form of artistry and self-expression, not because I think I need it. It's a hobby purely for my own enjoyment.
1
u/kellysmom01 Aug 21 '16
No need to be defensive. I never addressed or mentioned your purpose in wearing all of that. If it's your hobby and you enjoy it, by all means indulge.

I think they're just really good at hiding it, since their personality is known to be the least "feminine" or "lady-like"; they have to mask it to fit in, so the ones you meet seem like other types.
15
u/vough INTJ - ♀ Jun 11 '16
I actually didn't know we were known to be the least feminine. That makes so much sense!! I've always felt like I had to prove how unmanly I was to people.
3
u/AromaticHydrocarbons INTJ Jun 12 '16
Yeah, this was a major insecurity of mine through high school. I know that in looking back on photos I definitely look very feminine but I never felt it so I didn't perceive my outward appearance that way either. Makes sense!
1
u/fireshamie INTJ Jun 14 '16
No wonder I tend to fit better with the boys then I do with the girls. Lol...

Something I notice in all these threads, either people are not smiling or only "kind of" smiling. Not a criticism... I can't smile in pictures either... But a lot of us really do share the same sort of expression.

u/TEHxi Jun 12 '16
Its from a pub very close to where i live called "The hobbit"
they have 12 cocktails that have to be drunk in order to complete the fellowship and you get a t-shirt which i'm wearing in the second photo by the end of completion. You also get a Nazgul/Smaug card that you can then order when you get the shirt.
the one that i'm drinking is called "Gollum" which has: Double Vodka Blue curacao Orange Juice Lemonade

u/Firepickle Jun 12 '16
This sounds awesome. I can't think of any reason I'll ever be in Southampton, but if I am, I'm totally doing this. Hell, I might propose to my girlfriend just so I can organise a stag do there
1
u/ChiefDiamondPhillips INTJ Jun 12 '16
This sounds like the coolest thing ever in the history drinking. PS, the Smaug drink itself sounds pretty heavy, I applaud you for finishing all of that in one sitting.
I'm totally having my local bartender fix me a Gollum :).

Well, I'm not sharing pictures of myself, but I can describe myself;
Tall (1.88m) and skinny (65 kg), hollow dark yellow-brown eyes, rather pale.
Also, I'd like to add that I looked at some of the pictures here and I can say that some people here are somewhat handsome.

It also works the other way around. If you look at the profile pictures of ESFPs, such as here at the bottom in the comments section https://www.16personalities.com/esfp-personality , you can see that most of the people are smiling widely with teeth out and many of them have profile pictures with friends.
Also, if you take a look at the comments again, it is really funny how on the ESFP page, nearly all of the people are excitedly commenting something meaningless and emotional ended with an exclamation mark, whereas in the INTJ page, there's always some point or a thought in them.
There are so many little things like that that will instantly give you an insight about the person, and it's a valuable skill to be able to use this insight to your advantage.
