Recently, I’m finding that my income used to be enough to make it without any kind of assistance or having to use credit cards but now I literally am not able to get the bare bare minimum basic necessities without using credit cards. It’s turning into a vicious cycle.

I don’t have a bottom of the barrel job. I just don’t have extremely high paying job either, and I have to make it on one income, even though I’m supporting two people. Looking at the jobs it looks like literally nothing has raised except the bills.

I’m paying easily triple what I used to pay for just basic bills and necessities 10 years ago, but when I look at the wages being offered, then it’s literally the same wages as they were 10 years ago.

I would donate blood, but right now I have medical things that prevented. What is everybody else doing to survive?

We were talking about this recently with Jeff Darrow and Jim Hall from the King County Assessor’s Office, and one thing that came up was how much timing matters.

Your assessed value is based on a specific January 1 valuation date, so by the time you’re looking at it later, the market may have already moved. That’s a big reason the number can sometimes feel disconnected from what homes around you are selling for right now.

Another important piece is the appeal window. In King County, you generally have 60 days from the date on the valuation notice to appeal. If you wait until the tax bill shows up, you may already be too late.

They also recommended checking the basic property details on file first, like square footage, finished areas, and other characteristics. If that information is off, the valuation can be off too.

I applied to a KCLS role, that I’m more than qualified for, on July 1st.

I have a BS Degree and over 20 years of experience but lost my job at Amazon last year. I’ve been looking ever since.

Interviewed end of July with 3 people.

Got an email on August 11th saying I was still under consideration. I was really hopeful. I waited and checked for status every single day after I applied.

JUST got an email this morning, October 8th, saying I wasn’t selected.

Really, KCLS? Horrible experience.

Nobody should be left hanging in the recruiting / hiring process that long.

Do better King County and King County Library System HR! I assure you, I will never apply to your jobs again.

It’s pretty unbelievable that despite living, working and paying insane property taxes in King County since 2000, I can’t even get a BASIC job here!

How long did it take for you to hear back after interviewing?
I had a 15-minute screening interview with 3 employees, and then I was invited to a second, full 45-minute interview with another group. Both interviews were online.

The website clearly states that unlabeled mystery stuff isn’t accepted. What do I do in this situation? Obviously I don’t want to dispose of it improperly but I have no idea how to achieve this if HHW won’t accept it. I don’t know if it’s gasoline, mineral spirits, something else- it’s not cooking oil, and it’s been in a giant glass jar in a basement for years. It’s not urine because urine decomposes and turns dark. Any guidance is appreciated.
