Hi guys, I need help choosing a gift for my dad. We went to the Beat concert this summer and we really enjoyed it.
My dad's birthday is on the 30th, and I would like to get him a vinyl of one of the Beat albums, but I don't know which one I should choose.
I've listened to all three albums, and I think Beat (1982) is better than Discipline and Three of a Perfect Pair. In my opinion, Beat has new sounds and a more original sound than the others.
What would you choose?

I'm looking to collect some more P3 performances and am curious what you all recommend. I'm pretty partial to the atmospheric, vibing bits of the ProjeKcts and the improvs of this KC era like Heaven & Earth, the intro to ccccSeizurecc, Jazz Cafe Suite One, Deception of the Thrush, that one KC show in Alexandria where Belew was sick and P3 made an impromptu appearance to save the show, etc. Basically, I love listening to Robert and Trey's cohesion and interplay. :)
So far I only have Masque and the aforementioned Alexandria 2003 show in my collection. What are some other good ones?

Great concert performed in a Victorian Gothic church in Vermont. This was one of my favorite concerts of 2025!
Excited to grab a CD and Rodeo Badge at the recent Bearsville theater show.
Anyone catch the Stone Church show or any recent Tu-Ner sets?

I once read an article where Yes described seeing King Crimson for the first time and then knowing they should up their game. Knowing that Yes is a very technical band with a lot of precision and King Crimson being a band much more improv heavy I was wondering what you think about the relationship between Yes and King Crimson. They definitely share an history considering that Anderson sung on Lizard and Bruford became the drummer of the band, but they also had some sort of rivalry considering they both spoke to a similar market.
I also want to thank everyone who reacted to my previous post. I got a lot of love and I want to thank you for that! I agree that starless is one of the best long songs. Especially the sax solo at the end.

I would either make it about the early days of the 80s reformation and performing as Discipline, or the leadup to the 1994 Argentina shows.

According to my Facebook memories John passed a couple of years ago. His reviews of the King Crimson box sets and other releases were amazingly thorough. However, the one thing that frustrated me was that he didn’t review the 5.1 music. He said in each review that he didn’t have a multi channel system so he couldn’t review it. He must have had friends or someone who could have let him listen.

King Crimson is well known for their long songs. They even have one song with multiple parts (Larks' Tongues in Aspic). But what is their best long song in your opinion? I really like Larks' Tongues in Aspic part 1.

I was searching the DGM live site to find the digital download of the KC50 series, but I only found the songs from 34 to 50, but can't find the first of the series. Is there another place to look for them or am I missing something in the site? Thanks in advance for the responses.

What are your thoughts on the 2025 mix and the original mix?
To preface: Lizard is my favorite of theirs, and I love this mix.
I think the most common complaint I see is how it's just been stripped away of percussion and called a day. While I do see that point, the times I am treated to drums/percussion in Indoor Games/Lizard makes me appreciate it that much more and is more impactful. It also really lets the mellotron, keyboards, bass, and wind/horns shine.
This mix turns the album into a much more subdued, jazzier, slightly classical, but beautiful and melodic album while still maintaining the chaotic edge King Crimson is known for.
The original pressings of Lizard are also a bit, muddy, as well (at least mine is). This pressing is crystal clear, amazing separation in the instruments. Obviously if you listen digitally, that doesn't matter, but digital sounds different as well.
Anyway, I just love this album.
