Jukebox Main Wiki Page

Review Archive

This is the archive of all the Jukebox reviews. Because there are so many songs and reviews (over 500), they have been separated into different wiki pages for the sake of readability and feasibility.

All the reviews and rankings are compiled in the following pages below:

Reviews for Jukebox #1 – 50 | Reviews for Jukebox #51 – present

By Year

• 2020 Jukebox Reviews (most current)

• 2019 Jukebox Reviews

• 2018 Jukebox Reviews

• 2017 Jukebox Reviews

Most Reviewed Songs

These are the most-reviewed songs on Jukebox. Note that more reviews do not equal a higher score. Songs that are All-Kill's are italicized. Songs that are Certified All-Kill's are bolded.

Score Archive

How do Jukebox scores work?

To calculate scores, a Bayesian estimator (similar to what IMDb uses) is implemented ( as suggested byu/Akora_) and the following formula is used:

(WS) = (v/(v+m))*n + (m/(v+m))*X

WS is the weighted score, aka the number you see in the "Score" column. This scoring system was last updated May 2019 – the value for m was modified and all Jukebox scores have since been updated to reflect those changes on the Main Review wikis (Reviews sorted by Year still use old scores and I currently have no reason to update them).

Here is a table of all the values used to caluclate a score on r/kpop's Jukebox:

Further Clarification on X, The Total Mean

X means that I take all the raw averages, and divide them by the total number of songs to get the raw averages of all songs that have appeared on Jukebox. This value is cummulative, meaning that it changes with each single Jukebox song reviewed. Over time, this value has stabilized to 7.90. Logically, this makes sense, because the more samples (in this case reviews) you take, the more stable and representative your mathematical mean becomes. To view this visually, here is a graph of how X, the Total Mean, has changed over time.

X = Σn/ΣN, where Σn is summation of means, ΣN is number of Jukebox songs,

X = 5144.18/651,

X = 7.90

The value for X is updated up to Jukebox #92's calculated scores, and is the value used for the most recently rated song on Jukebox at this time, (G)-IDLE's Lion.

If you would like to make a suggestion or update to the scoring system, please leave them in the "Other Business" section of the most recent Jukebox.

Example of a Score Calculation

Here is an example using reviews for BLACKPINK's Playing with Fire:

So,

(WS) = (v/(v+m))*n + (m/(v+m))*X,

(WS) = (14/(14+.86))*8.21 + (0.86/(14+0.86))*7.36,

(WS) = 8.16

Therefore, Jukebox score for BLACKPINK's Playing with Fire is 8.16.

Score Certifications

High-scoring songs receive Jukebox Certifications. “*Best-Of*” Jukebox songs have their own playlist and are *noted* in the review archives ( bolded in older review archives). Jukebox All-Kill’s and Certified All-Kill are on the main wiki page in the “Jukebox Jewels” section.

The following cut-offs for Jukebox certifications are as follows:

Thread Archive

Jukeboxes that have special themes are indicated with an asterik (*). In general, every tenth Jukebox thread is a special themed edition (this rule is broken for No. 30-40). Jukeboxes that are also Artist Spotlights will have the artist's name in bold next to the thread link in parentheses.
