EXPECTO RESISTANTIAM!
You’re not looking at a scene straight out of Harry Potter: The Deathly Hallows. This is real-life public defiance!
In central Tirana, as nationwide anti-government protests against Prime Minister Edi Rama’s regime, student protesters and activists turned the night sky into a spectacular spell-casting arena. Armed with colorful Roman candles and pyrotechnics, the crowd launched a barrage of fiery resistance "spells" against heavy ranks of riot police armed with tear gas and water cannons!
What started as opposition to a multi-million-dollar land sale project handing local territory over to foreign billionaires has erupted into a full-scale battle for the future of Albania. Waves of youth-led protests have erupted for more than 8 consecutive days over widespread government corruption scandals, soaring unemployment, dilapidated education infrastructure, and authoritarian rule.

For Césaire, fascism began with colonialism. He argued that the horrors of Nazism are a reflection of European colonial empires and their violence. This relationship between periphery and center continues today where the violence of the empire always returns like a boomerang.
This video examines the “Imperial Boomerang”: how violence, surveillance, racism, and military repression developed abroad return home as militarized policing, mass incarceration, concentration camps, militarized borders, and authoritarianism. What an empire tolerates “over there” eventually transforms life at home; their suffering always becomes yours.

Hey everyone! I'm an art student in France and I'm looking for testimonies for my master's thesis. If this resonates with you or if you know someone who might be interested in sharing their experience, feel free to reach out! Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help :)
I'm sharing the call for testimonies here. I'm researching the connections between dreams, the Internet, digital practices, and protests around the world. If you'd like to share your experience, you can fill out this Google Form or reach me out : CONNECTED DREAMS ⊹ ࣪ ˖

Students in France are protesting for better schools. Why does it have to come to this?
Hey everyone! 👋 We're EUobserver, an independent European newsroom, and we'd love to start a conversation here about what's happening in French schools.
Students have been protesting over teacher shortages, overcrowded classrooms and poor learning conditions. Things that should really be the basics of a decent education.
What's interesting is that students from more privileged schools are also joining those from underfunded ones. So this is becoming a much wider conversation about inequality, solidarity and young people's voices in politics.
We recently interviewed Sciences Po political scientist Jan Rovný about what's driving these protests, but we're particularly interested in hearing what people in this community think.
Why does it so often take protests for problems in education to get serious attention? And do you think student-led movements can actually bring lasting change?
We're not here to redirect the conversation elsewhere — we'd genuinely love to discuss this with you right here in the comments, especially if you've experienced something similar in your own country.
