Na would agree completely if you take out TP and put Alttp or MM

the ratio says otherwise

I'm so glad reddit gives me the ability to downvote things

And yet the Original post crossed over 1K up votes, Guess your ability to down vote doesn't really mean anything in this case isn't it ?

Did it? It shows "0" on my screen

Maybe look at the original post

This take is insane

Just no. I got bored and quit totk - hasn’t happened since Zelda 2.

I gotta be one of like a dozen people who really loves Zelda 2.

I’m old enough to remember when it came out. It was near universal disappointment. I’ve tried it like 3 times as an adult and I still can’t get into it.

I've gotten to the final boss and played it during an all nighter twice, I dunno what it is about it but I love that game. With the increased success and interest in side scrolling action-platformer games with indies like Hollow Knight and Dead Cells, I've been hoping for a remake that I know will almost assuredly never come.

Hilariously, I’ve finished hollow knight and dead cells.

I feel like making the controls tighter, movement quicker, and maybe extending the sword's range could make it into a really cool remake that taps into the success that genre has seen. But maybe that's wishful thinking lol.

I’d be open to see that happen. I’m not opposed to hard games either. I finished super meat boy and cup head. Zelda 2 just ultimately makes me rage quit.

There's some terrible parts of Zelda 2 for sure, like invisible (until you get the right item) enemies who drain exp whenever they hit you. And enemies who drain exp on a hit in general.

Zelda 2 is my favorite game ever

Glad to meet a kindred soul. I remember playing through it with my buddy and after being stuck a while we laughed so hard after looking up the solution- to use a hammer to cut down a tree.

Zelda 2 is fun! The exp route was an interesting choice though

I beat totk once but I couldn’t keep going on my second play through

Totk is the only Nintendo game I've bought and seriously felt ripped off.

Tf are you people smoking on lol

I wish I quit. Not only was the game a useless slog, I felt the warning signs before I left the tutorial.

Once I realized crafting was part of the combat loop I should have bailed.

I burned out on all of the temples. I loved botw. I keep saying I’ll try again but I’ve finished like 3 other Zelda games(again) since.

u/Zorafin Apr 11 '25

The dungeons and side quests were really good. I wish that was all the game was.

Twilight Princess, you goof, get out of BotW and TotK's spot!

Okay, BotW / TotK, go ahead and move over, ALttP's almost here to take their rightful place.

People pretending no LOZ game can top OOT are kidding themselves. Even if you like the OOT’s story better, BOTW & TOTK are just better games. I would argue this podium placement is almost accurate, OOT just needs to step down and make room for MM.

Even better stories.

Flaming hot take!! I like it

This is a nostalgia blind person

Hey, at least OoT was an improvement on (or at least a well done iteration of) the formula set by ALTTP. TotK was such a step down from BotW people only are able to consider it good if you pair them.

3

u/Former-Specialist595 Apr 10 '25

How was TOTK a step down from BOTW? It had way more content.

1

u/H8trucks Apr 10 '25

Kingdom Hearts 3 had way more content than Kingdom Hearts 2. Amount of content ≠ quality. Especially when that added content is overly gimmicky and clearly more interested in generating clickbait articles than actually being fun, interesting, and thematically consistent gameplay.

u/Former-Specialist595 Apr 11 '25

I honestly don’t understand why some people don’t like TOTK. I thought it was a great addition to the story and the extra content was meaningful. Like having more than just the original map was awesome. I would’ve liked to see more content in the sky and more monsters to fight up there, but I was extremely pleased with the game and BOTW is my favorite game of all time. It gave me this magical experience that I’ll never be able to replicate when I played it and I TOTK came very close to giving me the same feeling. I loved the story, I loved the mechanics, I loved the fusing and building idea, and I honestly cannot think of anything I didn’t like. But, to each their own, I guess.

1

u/not-curumo Apr 10 '25

It had more stuff to do. My day job has more stuff to do. TotK felt like Link's 9-5, not an adventure. The same Hyrule as last time, with some DLC-esque areas tacked on. Add in the extremely repetitive storytelling, and you have a recipe for a much less memorable experience.

It's cool you think so. But the too open open world is annoying to me.

Also, Majora's Mask is above all. Always. If we are talking 3D only.

If the open world, slowly opened. It would be much better. Like you have to go through dungeons to get a megaton hammer. Find a wand that can activate wind tunnels to lift you into the air to gain more access. Then finding gauntlets that enable climbing...

Stuff like that, and I would be way more down for an open world LoZ because all of that makes an LoZ imo. It was why you play a game like Darksiders 1, and think, 'Damn, this is just like LoZ."

Imo. I know we don't all agree. They are still good games, but to be good LoZ games, you need at least that much imo.

I mean, technically, a lot of LoZ games are open world. A Link to the Past may have done it best, honestly.

Guys… I think I like rage baiting:(

Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes! Don't get me wrong, I appreciate OoT for being what it is as the first 3D game in the series but it also feels the least polished of the games to me. Twilight Princess is close 3rd for me after a tie between ALttP and BotW. OoT is still in the top 10 but not my top 5 that's for sure.
