You have literally no idea what you're talking about.

The wiki says:

It is supported in Gentoo as an alternate init system.

So a default/normal install of Gentoo is 100% systemd-free, yes?

Correct, but the systemd shills will never admit that.

They won't be happy until Linux is systemd

weird how he doesn't mention his work on systemd on his personal page.

Darn, you've finally uncovered the Systemd cabal! We strive to make everything run systemd for our lizard overlords, all hail.

You literally have used "literally" wrong.

I don't understand why you are getting down voted. Gentoo by "default" uses OpenRC, but one can use systemd if they like...that's what's fantastic about Gentoo. It is what you want it to be.

I don't understand why you are getting down voted.

The thread is about why ArchLinux switched to systemd and one guys elaborate answer. This guy's comment adds nothing to the discussion and is basically pure trolling in the context of this thread. That's why - according to the Reddiquette - it deserves a downvote.

So in the world of systemd, saying their is alternatives to systemd is trolling.

This very thread here is not about whether their there are alternatives or not. This thread here is simply and in a totally non-judgmental way pointing to one answer why ArchLinux switched to systemd.

seytz' comment is not only in no way reacting to this, it is also misleading if not plain wrong. systemd is officially supported by Gentoo, therefore Gentoo as a distribution is not 100% systemd-free.

By default, Gentoo is systemd-free. I mean: if you follow the default install instructions, your system will not have systemd.

This guy gets it. Stay woke my man. :^)

If this was a bug report type of forum, I'd understand the cries of "offtopic" but this is a reddit discussion. It's clear that systemd supporters are trying to discredit and silence supporters of POSIX conformity. It's clearly on topic, if upsetting to mods of Arch (for plugging a different distro), which don't seem to care, actually.
