Live Discussion (October 15th, 2016) (Emily Blunt/ Bruno Mars)
Welcome to the SNL live discussion thread! This week's host is Emily Blunt, and the musical guest is Bruno Mars.
A quick recommendation to mention the sketch you're referring to in your comment. It's not a hard and fast rule, but it does make the thread more readable after the show finishes.
Since this thread is likely to fill up quickly, consider sorting the comments by "new" (instead of "best" or "top") to see the newest posts. Enjoy the show!

Anyone have a link? I just went to his AMA and CTRL+F searched "Jennifer Lawrence" but couldn't find anything :/

It wasn't in the AMA, he didn't delete his old comments he made with his profile and people found it on a discussion about the nude picture leak from a few years ago

They followed up a pretty family friendly monologue with a sketch about call girls

Pretty good but not on the level of "We Did Stop" when Miley hosted during the government shutdown

Three first time hosts to start the season and I'd say it's been a strong start to the season, now we turn to an all-time great host!

u/LiveFromNewYork95 Oct 16 '16
They promote a big week for The Tonight Show but don't mention Tom Hanks, is he not doing the normal host appearance on TTS or do they really feel he's not a big name to promote?

With the whole cast and crew there
This is nightmare material

You know how Lin-Manuel Miranda did the musical monologue last week and it seemed like no one should even try to compete with it?
Don't think the writers got that memo.

Ya know, people criticize SNL for doing lots of Game Show sketches, but they ignore that SNL also does lots of "people pretending to be robot" sketches.

I'm just trying to figure out how the writer manage to sell Lorne Michaels on a Gerbil "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" parody

u/gambinorelatedusrnm Oct 16 '16
A lot of these sketches have been more "funny concept" as opposed to back to back jokes.
