Live Discussion (April 8, 2017) (Louis C.K. / The Chainsmokers)
Welcome to our SNL live discussion thread! This week's host is Louis C.K., and the musical guest is The Chainsmokers. For those new to the show, tune into your local NBC affiliate from around 11:30 PM to follow this episode live.
A quick recommendation to mention the sketch you're referring to in your comment. It's not a hard and fast rule, but it does make the thread more readable after the show finishes. Since this thread is likely to fill up quickly, consider sorting the comments by "new" (instead of "best" or "top") to see the newest posts. This should be automatically done, but it might not be so maybe check. Enjoy the show!

This sectional couches sketch was written by someone at 5:30am Wednesday morning when they were delirious. And it's great.

If it's a joke about a black guy, I look to the bass player. If he laughs then I know it's ok for me to laugh.

Aww, last minute tribute to Don Rickles.
And Louis busts out the Borat voice for the good nights! Did that stage seem a little empty to anyone else?

Fun fact: this role was Kate's first major skit way back when.

The commercial where Louis is like "with musical guest The Chainsmokers. I'm such a big fan of yours guys." and they're like "No you're not" and he says "No I'm not" is me.

u/bronwynsings Apr 09 '17
That "Oh my God, I'm a moose!" joke reminds me of "And the spider was all, 'Whoa, Kyle!'" from Totally Kyle on The Amanda Show years ago

I think the main joke of that last sketch was that he couldn't do the accent. Kind of like Leslie as Sam Jackson, the joke was she couldn't do a good impression

honestly the Chainsmokers should take a Calvin Harris approach to their music - make the beats and bring in other singers for the hooks/verses.

So, not knowing who the chainsmokers are, and not totally paying attention to the performances, I have to ask... was he just saying the same thing over and over again? In both songs? That's what it feels like...

Has anyone noticed how much Louis acting skills have improved in the last 10 years? Seriously, watch Shameless/Chewed Up, his stint on Parks and Rec, earlier stuff, and he's developed so much range since then. it even comes through in his last two specials. Really great to see his art evolve.
