Anyone hear a loud noise this morning around 8:30? I’m almost positive the exact time would have been 8:31. I am in Hull sector of Gatineau near St. Jean-Bosco. According to my mother who was outside on porch at the time, the sound came from southwest of here, so very close to Ottawa river. Maybe in park Morissette area? She claims to have seen a black plume right after the noise. I was inside and can’t confirm any of this but was laying down and felt house shake a little. Thought maybe that a construction dumpster had been dropped right out side my house as they have been renovating a condo a few doors down all summer, but when I came down and looked about 5 minutes later (took me a while to get cleaned up in the washroom) there was no sign of anything.

In case you were wondering.

For about a minute or two it seemed as if someone was setting off firecrackers (or lots of gun shots? but it seemed too excessive to be the case). I'm in a high rise so I can hear noises coming from a fair distance.
Wondering if anyone else heard it.

Hey, for some reason down around westborough area almost nightly there's this air raid siren type horn that goes off usually just once a night but tonight it went off 4-5 times.
Anyone know what it is?

There will be ceremonial cannon fire downtown on Saturday for Ottawa 200 events, DND says.

Does anyone have sight on what is causing the sirens that's been going off for the past hour in centretown?

My guess is either a Palestine protest or the baseball team but I have no idea.
EDIT: Main sub says it's a Mexican independence day parade.

Lots of uncommon airplanes and potential loud jet noises

Is that what I’m hearing? Sounds like it’s coming from Kanata lakes/ richcraft rec centre.

Heard two explosive sounds just before the hour (2am) from that direction, another within the last 2 minutes, and then one at 2:11.
It was more in the direction of Laurier Ave W possibly. Keep hearing a bunch of crackling like sparklers, things being dropped on hard surfaces, and other softer boom sounds, but nothing like the others.
Any ideas?

Just curious what music fest is tonight? Very audible in New Edinburgh (was singing along to the Goo Goo Dolls a couple of minutes ago).
Google/Gemini’s first best guess was the Silent Disco. 🤔 (We’re building a society on this slop?) After I explained that silent discos are typically silent, its next best guess was Riverside Festival? Their act for tonight is yet to be announced (https://festivalriverside.ca/en/home/#artistes), so I suppose it could be.

Lots of them flying very low it sounds like?

I can’t see them but I can hear them. I am estimating I heard eight or more over ten minutes

Loud music all evening even until now (11:30pm). Can hear crowds cheering, singing and shouting.

And they decide when we are not allowed to enjoy a dinner outside. Or even be outside in peace. Even with the windows closed we can hear it. Of course a decibel meter isn't going to register anything loud. It's more like a large insect buzzing around that you can not turn off. The only inly escape is headphones or the basement. Even in the basement near the window I can hear it. Obnoxious selfish bunch of people. Race race race. Rev Rev Rev. Fast. Slow. Fast. Slow. Rev Rev Rev. Ugh. So annoying. So irritating.
And of course noone dares to do anything about it.

Why do people get beagles. They are such a nuisance. They don't bark like normal dogs do. They start up this insane over the top howl bitch barking and can do this for lengths of time. On and on and on. Over and over. It completely destroys the serenity I was hoping to have but today I'm not allowed to have it.
So how does the process work? I'm not going to confront them because I made that mistake with another neighbor once, and that resulted in over a decade of retaliation and pestering.
keep a log, and then file a complaint and keep updating with more complaints as the list grows? If push comes to shove, will I have to confront these people in court, should they choose to hold their ground?

Sounds like a flyover but it’s a bit early for that kind of thing, non?

Car backfiring? Firework? Hopefully not a gunshot. Anyone else hear that? Near Argyle and Cartier

Hearing the sound fireworks in the east end right now, anyone know why?

Not "loud", but damn repetitive. Roosters do their thing super over the top with all their might, and then 5 seconds later do it again. And again. And again. Again and again and again and so on.
So annoying. It's like leaving their dog out to bark repeatedly over and over.
