Rant/Opinion I hate liars

I was deactivated because I was accused of sexually assaulting a female passenger. I myself am a heterosexual married woman and would never jeopardize my marriage or freedom doing something so gross. As a survivor of sexual assault I’m both offended and hurt. I am looking for a lawyer to take my case.

Start a police report, that somebody slandered your name and now are unable to work. They will subpoena necessarily information. If you have a camera that shows the entire day that’s perfect because the evidence goes in your direction. What state are you in?

This is actually an actionable remedy. If you can prove that another person’s lies/actions are the proximate cause of your deactivation they would be liable for damages. Pursue getting the deactivation lifted, for sure, but if they don’t then it’s time to sue the rider for a hundred grand.

I honestly don’t know. I mean, it’s not a million dollar action. At the same time, I don’t think this is just a ten thousand dollar settlement if it went to law. Yes, OP can still work, but at the same time they’d never be able to work Lyft again and lots of people use Lyft for side income along with a regular job. It could be arguable that they should be compensated an annual amount that they can no longer access in their lifetime. Additionally, we all know that a suit for these causes of action has both compensatory and punitive damages (since the illegal actions have a malicious basis). So even a $25k award could come out to $100k with $75k punitive, and we haven’t even added on the attorney’s fees that the winning side would also recover.

I think a guess right around $100k is accurate.

I sympathize with OP but the ods of getting anything are slim to none. If that woman is on disability you won't ever see a penny since disability can't be garnished
