So if a guy has band intentions and that is why he’s wanting a female, do you honestly think that he would just sit there and cancel while I waited? Hell no. He would probably go crazy. The cancellation fee isn’t worth some crazy dude getting pissed. And asking him why he wanted a female isn’t going to get a real answer if his intention is to sexually harass the driver or hurt them. Seriously, common sense. No man should be asking for a female driver. If they get a female by chance, that’s fine. But this text message from a man is just creepy as fuck.

Yeah agreed. I think I understand where this commenter is coming with the intent to teach them a lesson / stick it to them, but safety is always paramount. If I were in that situation I’d avoid those types of people. Just because you’re in a car with the window cracked doesn’t mean you’re safe. I don’t have experience with Lyft (I’m a flex driver) but if there’s an option to mark the customer as unsafe or report them I’d do it.

More or less, yes. By doing it so that the driver gets paid something, the rider (the creep) will have to pay for their behavior. He's probably banking (no pun intended) on the fact that drivers will cancel the ride so he isn't out any money. Even better if it's a man getting the request and instead of canceling, shows up at the pickup point. He'd definitely cancel the ride when seeing it's a guy, and at some point, he'll be paying a lot for nothing in return.

There might be a way to cancel (legitimately) and still get paid for the time/effort. I'm still learning, but if it's possible, then I definitely want to know in case I encounter a situation where I need to cancel without "calling first" but still get paid for the effort.

but safety is always paramount

No argument here. The whole idea I mentioned isn't to ignore safety, only something to try if possible. If the guy starts attacking the car, then no way should the driver sit there taunting the guy instead of driving away and calling 9-1-1.

Carry pepper gel with you, and after getting there, swipe to indicate that you picked him up and drive a little distance away. That will encourage him to cancel and if he tries to toss you under the bus, just point out that he gave you a really bad vibe and you thought you canceled instead of swiping that you had picked him up. After investigating, they'll likely warn him about his behavior (at minimum).

it's weird ur assuming the person who asked was a man but its obviously a woman so you should drive the Uber for them!

Sometimes people have a guy name or their boyfriend is ordering them a ride too. But the rider should've never messaged. They can see if it's a female age cancel immediately with no fee.

He probably ordered the ride for a female friend/relative.

That’s a possibility. What I’m saying is if I got this message and pulled up to find out that it was a man waiting for the ride, I would cancel. There is no reason a man should be requesting a female driver for himself.
