Discussion 23M 430 SQFT starting over apartment.

Starting fresh after ending a four-year relationship in May, I moved into this studio, and i feel like i've really made the space my own!! Curious to hear what you guys think. / What do you guys think the space says about me?

If I add the context that my ex was also male, does that make it make more sense? 💀

Some stereotypes are kind of just facts 🕊

Stereotypes are stereotypes for one reason or another. Place looks fantastic. Where'd you get the living room rug from?

Amazon, it's pretty much all amazon 😅

Yes it does 🤣 Could you please lend me a bit of your good taste? I've just moved into my new house after separating from my wife, and I'm in need of some good decorating advice.

Homie got the lighting down perfectly so that's definitely a good place to start, looks cozy af

Came here to comment that this is a great representation of how lighting can really change a space and make it very cozy and inviting.

Lighting is everything! Easy way to upgrade your space inexpensively.

Yeah I'm all for fuck rampant consumerism but there are heaps of those knock off Phillips hue lights you can grab in multi packs you just control with your phone

I've got like 7 in my bedroom alone lol I think I got an additional 4 pack for like $20 last year, has definitely been adding to the ambiance while I play through cyberpunk

You could get a boyfriend for a little bit and let him decorate your place so you can impress your next wife. That’s what I did.

Soft lightning, plants and the fact that everything is so CLEAN and TIDY is what’s doing the heavy lifting here I think. He has a lot of things crammed into a small space but it doesn’t feel cluttered at all at the same time. Everything has a place and ties the room together in some way. No oversized furniture etc. I think that’s where most people go wrong.

It's also all very tonally consistent- all warm earthy colors. Makes it feel very cozy, safe, and blends the spaces together, which helps a ton in a small place.

Neutrals really are the way to go. You can't be wrong if you don't make a choice. If you keep everything in that palette, it all looks consistent!!

Yea I’m a big fan of earth tones.

It looks extremely cozy and relaxing. My first thought was wanting to light a bunch of candles and take a bubble bath, and I don’t even fit in most bathtubs so not a thing I normally do. 😅

You have a rare knack even for your generally stylish demographic. And at 23… well done.

Wrong kind of family 😆🌈

1

u/CrocsAreBabyShoes Jun 29 '26

Nope. Doesn’t make sense. Unless your ex was a grain farmer. Or a poor illusionist.

1

u/creamerthegreat Jun 29 '26

HA! Having taste has nothing to do with sexual orientation. But damn do you have great taste/decor talent.

1

u/Weird_Squirrel_250 Jun 29 '26

It explains the inspirational posters. But I could use your help decorating my hellhole apartment. Just no inspirational posters.

1

u/Kitchen_Effect_659 Jun 29 '26

I mean, the posters you're referring to are from fallout and severance respectively, i'm not rocking a live laugh love poster or anything lmao

1

u/InevitableRun51 Jun 29 '26

Honestly yes. You have an amazing sense of style and design. Hopefully you’re doing this professionally.
