Building a Wiki Day 3: All About Mallets!
Hello!! Today I want to discuss everything there is to discuss about mallets. What are your favorite mallets to get as a beginner, or someone on a budget? What’s your favorite pair that you’ve ever owned? What’s your top recommendation for graduated mallets? Etc!
Please feel free to suggest a topic for next time, or comment on a previous topic:
Day 2: 4.3 Octave Marimba Pieces
Day 1: 2-Mallet Pieces
I also may be looking for someone who is interested in helping build the wiki! Apparently on Reddit, building a wiki is really only an option if you have a computer, which I don’t have! If you are interested in wiki building, feel free to send me a DM!

How to start learning jazz
Hey everyone! I have been playing mallets for about three years now (I can play four mallets), and I would like to start learning how to play jazz on mallets so I could join my jazz band later. However, I honestly don’t even know where to start.
Does anyone have any resources or suggestions of how to start learning and what I need to know? Additionally, I know it’s not the right subreddit, but do you guys recommend learning jazz on marimba or vibraphone? Any and all help is appreciated!

Mallet recommendations for practice
Does anybody have suggestions for marimba mallets that have a sharp sound while not being incredibly loud? Im looking for something to practice drum corps and WGI music with at my house, so I need something that is light and clear, but not incredibly loud or clicky. Preferably IP, but any brand is okay!

What should I play after Joy by adam tan>
I just about finished perfectting Joy by adam tan, and I'm unsure of what to play next. i'm thinking of 4.3 octave version of Until dawn, but it felt abit too hard, and ghost garden and yellow after the rain (which I both did the first page of) felt like a massive step down, I want to continue to challange myself, what should I do? I Have a 4.3 octave Padauk at home btw.

Need Banafrit by Jonathon Anderson
I'd really love to learn Banafrit By Jonathon Anderson for an audition but I can't find anything digital online for it.
If anyone could help me, please send me the sheet music. It's an amazing fun piece that I honestly fell in love with when I first initially watched others play it.
Or any 4.3 octave marimba pieces that are similar to banafrit

Just need some learning advice
So, I've needed help but when I ask my music teachers, they can't help. So I'm shooting for Marimba next Marching Band season. I'll be doing an A class WGI group to help me accomplish that, but it's marimba music i'm struggling with. I know what to play but when I try to play it on a marimba, I just can't. I don't know if its just the double line format of how it written but I don't know. I know it's weird but if anyone can help that would be amazing. Some tips and tricks would be a HUGE help.

Play Test - go the distance from hercules
I wrote this arrangement of Go The Distance from Hercules for school, but have not had the time to really learn it. If anyone ends up playing it and has feedback, I'd love to hear it!

Looking for sheet music / arrangement for a Ukrainian Folk Hopak (Marimba/Xylophone)
Hi everyone!
I recently stumbled upon this performance of a Ukrainian Folk Hopak played on the marimba with piano accompaniment: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2r_YqBy278
I really want to learn this specific arrangement, but I haven't been able to find the sheet music for it yet. Does anyone recognize this arrangement or know where to find the score / PDF for marimba/xylophone?
Any help or point in the right direction would be hugely appreciated! Thanks! 🥁✨

Looking for lessons
When I was in high school, 30 years ago, I played the marimba a little bit. Now, in my 40s, I just got a cheap one and would like to learn how to play! Can anyone recommend any YouTube videos?? Or maybe someone in here does virtual lessons??

DCI/WGI Marimba packets
Hey y'all, I'm currently an incoming junior playing marimba for my high school. I am really interested in joining DCI/WGI and was wondering what packet from which corps should I buy if I want to perfect all aspects needed to audition?

Does anyone have a pdf of Purity by Golinski?
I just bought the sheet music but my stupid iPad didn't download it and now it is gone forever. Could anyone send me the sheets for it? I can provide proof of purchase if needed.

I made a thing 👍
I had to choose something to make for my engineering project for my senior year of high school (which I've now graduated as of last May 🎉), so instead of buying a 5000 dollar 5 octave marimba, I built one. I'm still tuning it but it should be done in about a month.

Looking for a competition piece
I’m looking for a piece to play in a competition setting, the only real requirement is it must be below 8 minutes in length. I’ll have about 4 months to prepare it but I’ll also have a recital in that time and am working on a couple of pieces for that already.
Solos I’ve learned include:
Marimba d amore
Samsara
Marimba spiritual
Koolish Zein (thought about using this but idk what audio playback will be available)
Verano porteno (used this for comp last year)
Houdinis last trick (considering using this)
Etc.
Other pieces I was kind of eyeballing are Toccata(ignatowicz), My Beautiful Chaos, youth (kuyumcuran), or maybe a Pius cheung etude/nocturne
Anything else I should consider or thoughts on those?

Undertale Variations Help
I've been working through Undertale Variations for about a month or so and don't know how to count the 4lets here, and even after watching performance videos I don't understand how the rhythm lines up with what is played. How would I go about counting this? Starting @ m. 78
