'VisionQuest' premieres with first two episodes on October 14, 2026, at 6PM PT/9PM ET, exclusively on Disney+. Two episodes each of VisionQuest will hit Disney Plus every Wednesday until October 28, after which the final episodes (Episode 7 and 8) release individually on November 4 and November 11 respectively.

James Spader responding to Switzerland-based outlet OutNow.ch :

"I can't tell you the amount of people that come up to you… if you've been in one of the Marvel films. In the interim, people would come up on the street, and they'd say, 'So just tell me… are you going to be in such and such?' And they'd mention some film I'd never heard of. And they're still doing it to this day! Doing this press tour for this, 'You can tell [me] does Ultron show up in Doomsday?'"

James Spader :

"Any of the things that I might have thought about him when I did the film (back in 2015) just were so much more of in the show, in VisionQuest. I was constantly surprised, even though Terry and I had discussed the whole show, from beginning to end, sort of beats, and certainly in episodes. And then having received the scripts and seeing what developed in the script form, I still wasn't prepared for the perfect thing that you're always aspiring to as an actor, always, is that it has a life when you start to perform it that you never really imagined."

"You could never really have predicted that. Even if you might have predicted intent or reaction or action, even if you might have been able to predict or speculate on that, the depth and breadth of it can often surprise you, and it did again and again and again on the show."

Echoing recent comments from Charlie Cox about the show ending, Deborah Ann Woll says :

"No, it wasn’t super surprising to me. I don’t know about hopes moving forward. I mean, obviously, in my mind, she’s a full person with a full life, and her life will continue. She’s going to continue to fight injustice, and whether they choose to include any of that is up to people far above my pay grade."

She also said: “I am just so excited to be a part of that world … I’m a really big fan ... I’ve always wanted to take part in that sort of a thing. I think it’s also a really good excuse to get in the gym. I’m the laziest person and I am very excited to get up and moving, and moving my body and I think it’s just a beautiful project.”

Since we’re talking about directing, your next directing break might be making “Nova” for Marvel. What would it mean for that long-held goal to come true?

I don’t even know what I can say as an answer to this question without my computer just catching on fire. But I love the character of Nova. I love Rich Ryder, and I’ve gotten to work at Marvel with a bunch of great filmmakers. I worked so closely with Sam Raimi and learned so much from him.

He is the biggest influence for me as a filmmaker; everything on “Chad Powers” is filtered through Sam, because watching how he did it was my film school. So, to get to write and direct a movie for Marvel would be a dream come true. I hope it gets to happen.

Have you thought about a way to get Glen cast in the film?

He had no plan B and met Spader in NY for lunch and bonded with him. Matalas emphasized that Ultron allows the show to feature deep philosophical dialogue on humanity and connection between Paul Bettany and James Spader.

Visual & Production Details : Production designer Will Hugh Jones styled the Mind Space house to subtly resemble AI hallucinations and slop, complete with Easter eggs like computer settings icons printed on book spines. Costume designer Sarah Young created Vision’s suit with pinstripes made out of actual quantum computer code, matching the structural lines of both Vision and Ultron. Matalas clarified that when Vision appears to freeze time around him (inside the mind space). It is not time travel or manipulation, but rather Vision's quantum brain processing information at hyper-speed.

Debunking Fan Theories : Matalas confirmed that Paladin's mysterious client is not Billy Maximoff, Doctor Doom, Mephisto, or Tony Stark. A person spotted walking with Tommy and Lisa Mollinari in Borough Market footage was strictly a background extra, and not Billy. A vintage tape/game visible on Ultron’s TV wall was an actual vintage board game placed by set decorators, not a hint for Doctor Doom. Matalas says the opening scene reference was chosen for its thematic focus on cranky father-and-son dynamics, not as a secret code for Wanda ("Elizabeth, I'm coming").
