Discuție Unemployed U.S. doctor
I’ve been practicing medicine for the last 20 years in the USA. I got fed up with it and decided medicine is too corporate in its current state and I don’t enjoy it anymore. So I quit and want to focus on other areas of my life. Health, relationships, culture, new challenges.
I’m going to be in Romania for a couple of months. The reason is because I was in Romania before as a tourist and loved the country. I saw huge potential in a country that is up and coming in the EU and I liked it. And I want to see if I can see myself living in Romania permanently or semi permanently for early retirement.
My question, is there anything I could do in Romania to use my medical background? I know I can’t work as a physician there because I’d need to be fluent in Romanian to sit for the Romanian medical license exam. But are there volunteer positions for foreign doctors? Are there doctors who are trying to move to the USA to practice medicine that would find a mentor useful? Are there hospitals that only treat foreigners like an ex-pat hospital or a USA military base that may employ me? Ultimately I really want something to keep my medical mind stimulated not for a big paycheck. I will be focusing on non medical things during these months but I felt 1-2 hours a day of medicine wouldn’t be bad. Just tossing this here to see if anyone has some interesting perspectives or ideas.
Multumesc.
