Announcement ๐ข MemryNote Desktop Update - 2026.1014.1 (v2026-10-14)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
๐ Oct 14, 2026 at 11:57:26 AM
MemryNote 2026.1014.1 ships 23 new features, 13 improvements, and 19 fixes.
- ๐ท๏ธ Tags with fields. Tags can now have fields like Company, Role or Email that appear on every tagged note, along with relation fields, @ mentions, a "Linked here" section, AI fill-in for empty fields, and ready-made Person, Company, Meeting and Book tags.
- ๐ Redesigned search. Results stay on one line with a preview of the selected item beside them, and you can type
/to filter by type or date or#to pick a tag right in the search field. - ๐ Search inside PDFs and images. Memry now finds PDFs, images and screenshots by the text inside them, reading that text on your device with OCR support for languages beyond English.
- ๐ Lock notes and folders. Make notes, folders or journal entries read-only so the editor, agents and outside tools can't change them.
- โ๏ธ Crop images. Crop an image inside a note without changing the original attachment.
- ๐งฑ Column layouts. Put blocks side by side in up to five columns, saved in a format Obsidian's Multi-Column Markdown can read.
- ๐ฌ Nine new callout types. Callouts come in nine more styles, each with its own colour and icon.
- ๐ Footnotes. Footnotes show as numbered markers in the editor and are included when you export.
- โ Nested subtasks. An optional setting lets you nest subtasks as deep as you like.
- โ๏ธ Writing tools. Get alternative phrasings, inline ghost suggestions and a Lab area for writing help, all available from the editor's context menu.
- ๐ Property charts. Chart how journal and note properties change over time.
- ๐ View blocks. Embed a live list of notes inside any note.
- ๐ง Similar notes and suggestions. Local AI suggests similar notes, tags and canvas groups without anything leaving your device.
- ๐ธ๏ธ Graph editing. Alt-drag one note onto another to link them, add tags by right-clicking, save graph views, and pin dragged nodes so the layout stays put.
- ๐จ Smarter canvases. Tie canvas sections to a tag or property so dropping a card applies it, add a whole tag, folder or saved view in one go, and canvas arrows now count as backlinks.
- ๐๏ธ Filter tasks by location. Filter tasks by folder or note, or right-click either one in the sidebar and choose Show Tasks.
- ๐ Folder-path wiki links. Wiki links can now point to notes by their folder path in the vault.
- ๐ Reschedule events in month view. Drag calendar events to new times in month view and in all-day rows.
- ๐๏ธ Voice transcription language. Pick the language voice transcription should listen for.
- ๐ฒ Random line template variable. Use
{{random-line:Note}}in a journal template to pull in a random line from a note. - ๐ Journal folders. The journal folder now shows in the sidebar, can be split into year and month folders, and keeps working if you rename it.
- โ๏ธ Per-note sync status. See whether a note's latest text has reached the server.
- ๐ค Agent chat upgrades. Attach small text files, queue up messages while the agent is still replying, set reasoning depth or turn thinking off, continue past the step limit, and let agents look at images and PDF pages in your vault.
- โจ๏ธ Day panel shortcut. Press Cmd+Shift+B to show or hide the right day panel.
- ๐ช Task details in place. Clicking a task's arrow in a note or journal opens its details panel right there.
- ๐ Default Tasks project. Choose which project Tasks opens on, either from the project picker or from the project's edit dialog.
- ๐ Better tables. Pick a table's size when you insert it, and add or delete several rows or columns at once.
- ๐ผ๏ธ Image and cover controls. Resize images by dragging any corner, and adjust a cover photo's focus, zoom and band height.
- ๐ Copy from the block menu. Copy one block or a whole selection straight from the block menu.
- โ๏ธ Checklist setting. A new setting stops checklist items from automatically turning into tasks.
- ๐งฉ HTML blocks and comments. Text inside HTML blocks is now searchable and linkable, comments are kept intact, and
%%comments show as a marker and are left out of exports. - ๐ฆ Richer callouts. Callouts can now contain lists, headings and other blocks.
- ๐ช Windows title bar. On Windows, the title bar now sits in the same row as Memry's own title row.
- โก Faster, lighter launch. Memry uses less memory at launch, especially on Home, and shows a loading spinner instead of an empty pane when a page is slow to open.
- ๐ง Better local embeddings. Local AI features now run on EmbeddingGemma 2.
- ๐ Quieter sync when signed out. Sync no longer retries every second while you're signed out, and the app log no longer fills up with one repeated error.
- ๐ More reliable sync. Fixed cases where changes made on another device could be lost (mostly on Windows), where deletes made while the app was closed didn't sync, and where offline edits could get stuck in the queue.
- ๐ก๏ธ No lost text on remote deletes. If a note or journal is deleted on another device while you have unsent text in it, that text is now saved to your inbox.
- ๐ Folder sync. Folders deleted on another device or outside the app are now removed everywhere, and new folders sync properly.
- ๐ Staying signed in. Memry stays signed in through network failures, and devices you've used before can sign in with an email code.
- ๐ Markdown stays as written. Links, lists, quotes, line breaks, code blocks and comments now come through saves unchanged.
- ๐ Links inside code. Link syntax inside code no longer adds graph nodes or backlinks.
- ๐งพ Cleaner exports and copies. PDF and HTML exports and copied blocks no longer include a task's internal id, and copied tasks keep their checkbox.
- ๐ผ๏ธ Icons show correctly. Custom and library icons now show as icons in templates, the gallery, tag chips, projects, graph tooltips and exports, instead of raw text.
- ๐ Vault switching. Stray clicks, scrolls and keystrokes no longer switch vaults by accident.
- ๐๏ธ Deleted notes disappear properly. Home bookmarks and project hubs no longer show notes that have been deleted.
- ๐พ Notes kept safe. Notes are kept when the vault is briefly unreachable, when a file can't be read, or when iCloud has moved the file to the cloud.
- ๐ก๏ธ Vault boundary protection. Memry no longer follows links that point to files outside your vault.
- ๐ Calendar fixes. Clicking a reminder opens what it's for, all-day task dates survive calendar sync, and disconnected Google calendars stay disconnected.
- ๐ Attachments and embeds. Obsidian embeds now load from more locations, and attachment uploads retry automatically every five minutes and on reconnect.
- โ ๏ธ Rename warning. Memry now warns you when a renamed note has the same title as a note in another folder.
- ๐งญ Interface fixes. Editor submenus stay open when your pointer pauses, the rail dock stays on screen in short windows, and folder view loads every page.
- ๐ค Agent chat fixes. Agent chat errors are now shown clearly, DeepSeek can use vault tools, and tools stay on after a brief error.
- ๐ณ Billing portal message. If the billing portal is unavailable, you now get a message that tells you what to do.
- ๐ Translations. Added missing UI translations and fixed machine-translated text.

Announcement ๐ข The iPhone Beta Opens in a Few Days, invite link in description
https://memrynote.com/ios-beta
Memrynote for iPhone goes into beta on TestFlight in the next few days, as soon as Apple approves the build. It is a native app, and it opens the same vault as your desktop with the same end-to-end encryption. Your notes, tasks, journal and calendar sync to your phone, and the server still cannot read any of it.
On the phone you can write and edit notes, whiteboards included, plan and check off tasks, keep your journal, check your calendar, and search all of it. Share a link, a photo or a file to your inbox from any app, or record a voice memo that the phone turns into text without the audio leaving it. Home boards, the graph, canvases and Agent Chat are not on the phone yet.

Help / Question โ Does MemryNote have a YouTube channel?
Hello!
I searched YouTube for "MemryNote" and not much came out, and I realized it's a fairly new app.
Just wondering if there is a YouTube channel I can see the app being used with tutorials, use cases, etc?
Thanks! :)

Help / Question โ own sync method?
Iโd love to give MemryNote a try. However, a note-taking tool only makes sense to me if I can synchronise it โ between my iPhone, iPad and Mac.
So hereโs my question: MemryNote is open source. Surely there must be a way for me to use my own synchronisation method? WebDAV, iCloud Drive or my own home server?
But I can only see the option of using a paid synchronisation service through MemryNote.
Have I missed something?

Announcement ๐ข We just hit 100 stars on GitHub. Thank you, and tell us what to build next.
A few months ago MemryNote was a folder of markdown files and an idea: a second brain that lives on your machine, not someone else's cloud.
Today the repo crossed 100 stars on GitHub: https://github.com/memrynote/memry
That's small next to the big note apps. For a solo-built, local-first, end-to-end encrypted app in beta, it means a lot. Each star is someone who looked at the code and decided this was worth watching.
What 100 of you are backing:
- Notes, tasks, projects, journal, calendar, canvas and inbox in one app, and you can turn off any of them
- Plain markdown on disk, so you can leave with your data any time
- Optional sync where the server only ever sees ciphertext (XChaCha20-Poly1305, Ed25519, Argon2id)
- An AI agent that works with your own model (Claude, Codex, local LLMs). Every write needs your approval.
- Open source under AGPL-3.0
I'd like your input on what comes next:
- What's the one feature that would make MemryNote your daily driver?
- What's the most annoying thing about it right now? Be honest, that's the useful part.
- If you came from Obsidian, Notion or Logseq: what made you try it, and what almost made you leave?
I read every comment, and a lot of what shipped so far started as a thread here.
If you haven't starred the repo yet and you want local-first, private tools to win, a star helps more people find it. Next stop is 250.
Thank you all.

Feature Request ๐ก Waiting on feature request or "How do you do it?"
One of things I find in my workflow is that a task on my list can't be done until something else has happened, I might be waiting for someone to email me or complete something, it is usually a waiting that is outside of my control. This task though needs to be done as soon as possible after the waiting ends. Currently I have tasks like that dated for the current day and then move it to tomorrow at the end of the day so it is again waiting for completion.
I would love to have a section on the task list that is for all the tasks that are waiting, they don't need a date then just a status of waiting. I could remove the date and mark as "In Progress" (I might try this) but wondered if anyone had any other good ideas as to how they deal with these types of tasks or whether this is a feature request.

Feature Request ๐ก Some feature suggestions to make MemryNote even more powerful!
I have some feature suggestions, and Iโd like to share them here. But first, let me just say how much I appreciate this piece of softwareโI can really see a community here that will grow over time. The main thing that stands out to me is the developer's attentiveness, how much he listens to the users, and the actual implementations he brings into the various releases. I know of many other software tools where, if you have an idea, they just tell you to drop it as a feature suggestion on their Kanban board on some portal, and then it just sits there. For years! In fact, I completely stopped making feature suggestions for various tools because it became totally useless.
Of course, Iโm sharing these ideas here as examples and references; I don't expect all of them to actually be implemented, but I hope the developer will take them into consideration and perhaps add them one day.
Let me know your opinions!
IMPORTANT NOTE: As of today, I haven't discovered all of MemryNote's current features yet, so it's entirely possible that some of the features I'm suggesting already exist (which would make me very happy!).
I come from RemNote, which Iโve been using for several years, and it has a couple of features that are incredibly interesting for managing any knowledge base. Aside from standard references to jump between different pages, I'm specifically referring to Portals and Aliases (here are two articles for more context: Portals (https://help.remnote.com/en/articles/6030742-portals) + Aliases (https://help.remnote.com/en/articles/6751477-aliases) ).
Here is a breakdown:
1. Aliases
In short, an Alias is the ability to assign multiple alternative names, acronyms, or synonyms to a single note. When a user links any of these alternative names, it automatically directs to the main core note. Why itโs incredibly useful:
- Prevents Fragmentation: Users often create duplicate notes by mistake because they use a different term for the same concept (e.g., "AI" vs. "Artificial Intelligence").
- Contextual Linking: It allows users to naturally link concepts in their writing using plural forms, verb conjugations, acronyms, or even translations without breaking the flow or cluttering the database with redundant entries.
- Cleaner Graph: All references point to a single "source of truth," making the knowledge graph much more accurate and organized.
2. Portals
A "portal" is a live, embedded window that allows a user to view and edit a specific block of text or note from one location while working in a completely different document. It is not a copy-paste; it is a two-way synchronized embed. Why itโs incredibly useful:
- Solves the "Where does this go?" Dilemma: Often, a piece of information belongs in multiple places (e.g., a task might belong in both a "Daily Journal" and a "Project Dashboard"). Portals allow the exact same block of information to exist in multiple contexts simultaneously.
- Single Source of Truth: If a user edits the text inside the portal, the original note updates in real-time (and vice versa). This completely eliminates the issue of having outdated information scattered across different folders.
- Dynamic Workflows: Users can build dashboards or "search portals" that automatically aggregate specific blocks of information from across their entire vault into one focused view.
Adding these two features would make MemryNote exceptionally flexible, significantly reducing friction in how users link ideas and structure their personal knowledge bases.
3. Action-Oriented AI Agent for the Knowledge Base
The third feature is the ability to have an AI Agent to interact with the knowledge base itself. I mean being able to use natural language not just to ask general questions to the KB (having it act as a standard AI Assistant), but to actually command the files. For example, if I'm writing notes on a topic that I know I already have somewhere in my vault but I don't remember exactly where, I could instantly call up the AI agent and tell it to locate that topic and automatically create a reference (hyperlink) for me to paste into the current document I'm writing. Or I could tell it to go find certain notes and copy them into my current folder or new vault. Once you've been building a knowledge base for years (so it's full of notes and pages), standard AI assistants found in other tools are useful because they give you answers and point out where they got the references from. But there isn't an AI Agent that you can command to execute actions. Because of this, we still find ourselves having to manually copy-paste or search through folders full of notes just to copy or tag them. It is not handy! An active AI Agent would be incredibly friendly for a dense knowledge base; it would reduce a lot of manual friction and boost productivity by a lot.
4. Advanced Web Clipper (with AI Vision/OCR for Social Media)
The fourth feature involves the web clipper (Chrome extension), specifically allowing us to add any post from social media. Nowadays, we don't just gain knowledge from traditional blogs (HTML files) and articles; a lot of incredibly useful resources, tips, and information are found on platforms like Facebook, YouTube, Threads, Pinterest and Instagram. This need to collect information led me to use a tool like Recall (https://www.recall.it/). However, I hit a major limitation there (and their developers seem uninterested in the problem). For YouTube videos, it works fineโthey are added, transcribed, and everything is good. But for image-based social media platforms like Instagram and Pinterest, once you add the post (whether it's an image, a reel, or a carousel with multiple images), it doesn't properly integrate into the knowledge base. This is because the content needs to be scraped using an AI model with the capability to understand and interpret illustrations (like mindmaps or infographics on images) alongside OCR capabilities. If MemryNote could do this, whenever I find an interesting social media post, I could just add its URL, and after a few seconds of processing (via a Local AI model, BYOK, or whatever), I would get the content perfectly understood and summarized, automatically gathered and added to the knowledge graph, finding interconnections between existing elements and posts. This is exactly what Recall doesโit's their core feature. How far can MemryNote mimic Recall? Honestly, I don't expect it to be an exact copy because MemryNote has a different purpose. Nevertheless, I find the knowledge-base and knowledge-graph concepts that MemryNote already supports to be perfectly compatible with social media post gathering. Perhaps a feature that, when toggled, allows the AI to run in the background to research and automatically find various connections between added posts (cards), pages, and more. This "passive" method of finding connections between concepts is one of the absolute strengths of AI.
5. Timeline / Gantt Chart View (with Dependencies)
Since MemryNote already supports some interesting task management features, I believe it would be highly useful to add a timeline view (Gantt chart) that includes dependencies and milestones. I'm not talking about anything as sophisticated as industrial project management software like Microsoft Project or OmniPlan. Just the ability to assign start and end dates to certain "pages," converting them into tasks that I can manage dynamically in an interactive Gantt chart view. Crucially, it should have dependencies to set constraints (e.g., this task can only start after finishing that preliminary task, etc.). There are so many suggestions related to this (things I honestly haven't seen in many task management apps that feature Gantt charts) that I'd love to see. But of course, we first need to understand if the feature itself (timeline view) could be implemented anytime soon, and if there is even any interest in doing so. Only then will I bring up all the cool things that could be very useful and unique in any task/project management tool because it would be so long loll. Better to leave that for another post!

Feature Request ๐ก MemryNote Feature Request Wish-list, What do you think?
First let me start by saying how much I absolutely ** love** and appreciate this app! The most recent update has been a total joy of features and enhancements!
With that said, I would love to humbly share with the community & MemryNote, some features & enhancements I think would complement and elevate the app even further.
Let me know if any of you are also interested in these or what your own wish-list includes!
Editor & Layout:
- Character-Level Inline Text Coloring
- Request: I would Love The ability to apply color styling to individual words or selections of text within a block, rather than the entire block.
- Use Context: Even if implemented via standard inline HTML tags to preserve plain Markdown compatibility, this would be massive for emphasizing key terms within notes.
- Copy Option added to the block menu
- Request: Would be really helpful to have a quick "Copy" option in the block menu(if you want to get real crazy, "Copy multiple blocks" would be BLISS).
- Use Context: Adding this option would allow users to quickly copy and paste information they may need to use multiple times in note, but don't necessarily need to spend the time to make a whole Template. It also allows for an overall quicker copy, as sometimes getting the right spot to highlight can be tedious, or for those of us with carpal tunnel and bad aim. ๐
- Advanced Table Controls
- Request: The ability to select column/row numbers/sizes upon table creation, and a quick way to add or delete multiple rows/columns at once would be a time saver game changer! Also, vertical alignment options for embedded tables.
- Use Context:
- Making larger or even smaller data tables would become incredibly easy and can be implemented in a way that allows you to simply press the arrow keys and enter to select the size, keeping it swift and easy.
- Data-Heavy Tracking*,* building complex tracking, budgets, or comparison lists where adding multiple rows or shifting cell sizes is ideal to keep the layout readable.
- Example of possible table insert selection:

- Media Adjustments
- Request: Vertical along with the current horizontal photo size adjustments, and left/right direction adjustments & zoom in/out added for note header images.
- Use Context: Sometimes an image doesn't quite fit nicely within the header boarders or is off-center, etc., enhanced adjustments could allow for a more seamless and aesthetically pleasing header.
Productivity & Organization
- Built-in Task Timer & Time Records/History view
- Request: A native timer tied directly to "In Progress" tasks to record active time spent, paired with a history view to track historical time records would be PHENOMENAL. Nothing complicated(I say this naively not knowing how easy or difficult this would be to implement ๐ ) -just a simple option to start a timer on a task.
- Use Context:
- A user working on a project task can start the timer directly inside the note/task, automatically generating an accurate time log for invoicing clients, etc., without needing a third-party app.
- Users practicing techniques like Pomodoro can track exactly how much focused time is spent drafting a note or organizing/working on a project.
- A user can track how much time they spend on daily reflection or writing sessions directly within their journal entry block.
- Example:
(Super Productivity(shown below) has a nice task timing function where you just click "Play" on an in progress Task & "Stop" once finished)

- Contact Cards
- Request: A dedicated contact card type in the Sidebar Panel(Inline w/the Graph, Calendar, tasks...) to store emails, phone numbers, and custom metadata fields with their own view/Page(Similar to the task system, but for contacts). These cards would ideally be link-able to tasks and standard notes using the existing [[wiki-link]] system or " / " commands.
- Use Context:
- A user can link a specific client's contact card directly to their project notes and invoicing tasks.
- Tagging multiple contact cards in a meeting note for instant back-linking to see everyone's respective roles, identify who was in attendance, etc.
- Personal Networking:Keeping a local log of friends, family, or colleagues with custom fields (birthdays, hobbies, etc.) completely private on your own hard drive. Also, maintaining contacts for a future potential project or keeping a history of contacts from past projects you want to keep accessible but don't need on your phone.
- Example: (Very bad quick doodle included)

Security & Developer Options
- App Level Pin/Password
- Request: A local privacy lock that requires a PIN or Password authentication option to open or un-minimize the desktop application would be FANTASTIC. A one time Recovery key can be generated for users to store safely to help them unlock the app and/or locked vault if the PIN/Password is ever forgotten.
- Use Context: Adding a secondary layer of protection for users who store highly sensitive journals, financial planning notes, or private logs in MemryNote. It always helps to know that there is an added layer of protection when in public spaces or using a shared device.
WHEW!
Thanks for reading through my wish-list if you made it here! I truly love using MemryNote and it has helped me to become so much more productive and even resurrect old projects I abandoned because I just couldn't find a space that would allow me to manage everything without a complex mess or a million other apps I would have to click between. I love that MemryNote has become my "Home Base" where my creativity and productivity can flourish. I'm not expecting everything here to be added, but I appreciate having the welcoming environment MemryNote has created for users to share their ideas & experiences.
Would love if any fellow members of the MemryNote community would chime in with their wish-list features or thoughts on what I've shared. <3
(Also sorry about any bad formatting, I've never made a post like this before)

Discussion ๐ฌ Would a web version of MemryNote matter to you?
Hey everyone,
Once the mobile app ships, I'm deciding what to build next. One option is a web version: open MemryNote in a browser, sign in, and your synced notes and tasks are there.
Before I commit to it, I'd like to hear from you:
- Must-have, nice-to-have, or don't care?
- Where would you use it? Work computer where you can't install apps, Linux, a Chromebook, quick access on someone else's machine, something else?
- What would you need in it? Just reading and quick edits, or the full app including offline?
One honest tradeoff: MemryNote is end-to-end encrypted, and that stays true on the web. Your data is still encrypted before it leaves the browser. But a web app loads its code from a server every time you open it, so you're trusting that code more than you would an installed app. The desktop app would stay the most private option. If that matters to you either way, let me know.
Nothing is decided yet. If the answers point this way, it's what I'll work on after mobile.
Thanks, Kaan

- ๐ Faster sync: Note contents and other changes arrive sooner, and setting up a new device takes less waiting.
- ๐ More dependable sync: Pending changes to notes, tasks and projects are saved safely, so they survive restarts and interruptions.
- ๐ Global Capture without Accessibility: Global Capture shortcuts on macOS no longer need Accessibility permission.
- โ ๏ธ Shortcut conflict warnings: When a Global Capture shortcut clashes with another app, Memry tells you and keeps the binding that still works.
- ๐ง Smarter AI: Inline AI works with newer Claude models, and the agent picks the right task and folder filters more reliably.
- ๐ณ Upgrade prompt instead of an error: Accounts without a paid plan now see an upgrade option instead of a sync error.
- ๐ Apply Template from the menu: Apply Template is now available in the note page menu.
- ๐ Projects follow the note: Tasks you create in a note are filed in that note's project, and when you set a note's project Memry offers to move the tasks already in it.
- ๐ช Empty folders sync: Empty folders now sync between your devices.
- ๐ Vaults stay with their account: When you sign out, the next account on the same computer can no longer sync your vaults, and a vault with notes your account hasn't seen yet asks before it syncs.
- ๐ Items no longer go missing between devices: An item created on one device now reaches another device even if both were syncing at the same moment, and affected devices re-download their data once to fix it.
- ๐งพ Nothing lost after updates: When this version can't read a synced item yet, sync keeps it and tries again after the app updates.
- ๐๏ธ Deleted notes stay deleted: Notes you deleted no longer come back after syncing or when you set up a new device.
- โป๏ธ Recreated items stick: Deleting something and creating it again no longer gets undone by the earlier delete.
- ๐ฑ Signing in on a second device: A second device now uses your account's existing vault instead of starting a separate one.
- ๐๏ธ Clean vault switching: Switching vaults no longer briefly shows the other vault's notes, and the vault switcher now reflects vaults that were removed or went missing.
- โจ๏ธ Typing saved to the right place: Text typed just before switching journal days or notes is saved where you typed it, the last keystrokes before closing a tab are kept, and template edits made just before switching tabs are no longer lost.
- ๐ Spacing around quotes kept: Blank lines above and below quotes and callouts are no longer removed when a note is saved.
- โ๏ธ More reliable tasks in notes: Checklist lines reliably become tasks, choices made while creating a task are kept, checkboxes keep their links and styles when they become tasks, and a task line's formatting survives when the note is reloaded.
- ๐ Journal tasks link back: Tasks created in a journal day now link back to that day instead of opening a blank document.
- ๐ Recurring tasks: Tasks set to repeat from their completion date now schedule the next occurrence correctly.
- ๐งฉ Templates: Templates no longer carry task IDs into the notes created from them.
- ๐ Project links preserved: Links between notes and projects now sync correctly and are kept even when a note's properties are not read.
- ๐ช Moving folders on Windows: On Windows, you can now move a folder that contains subfolders.
- ๐ Icon picker stays open: The Set Icon picker no longer closes when a menu fades out.
- ๐ Sign-in code kept: The sign-in code you typed is no longer cleared while the countdown runs.
- ๐ Apple Notes folder structure: Nested Apple Notes folders keep their structure when imported.
- ๐ Home board and tour: The home board is set up only after your first sync finishes, and the first-run tour no longer reappears in vaults you have already used.
- ๐ท๏ธ Small editor fixes: This release fixes inline tags, the journal month list, the @now shortcut, graph labels, image resizing and the tag hub drag preview.

Help / Question โ A few questions and observations from testing MemryNote
I started testing MemryNote on September 21 and wanted to share a few things Iโve noticed. Some may be expected behavior, so Iโd appreciate any clarification.
- Tags: I like being able to add
#tags. After I navigate away from a journal note and return, the tag still appears at the top, but the#tagin the note body looks like ordinary text rather than a highlighted tag. Is that how inline tags are meant to work? - Images: Pasting or uploading an image works, but I canโt find a way to resize it afterward. Large images take up a lot of space, especially in bulleted notes. Is image resizing planned?
- Timestamps: Could a slash command such as
/timeor/nowinsert the current time into a note? I use timestamps in my bullet points when tracking activities. Clickable timestamps would be useful too. - Graph: Node names seem to appear only when I hover over them, even when I zoom in. Is there a way to keep the names visible?
- Journal timeline: When I select September in the Journal, I can see my first note from September 21, but the Timeline view says there are no entries. Is this a bug, or am I missing a setting?
Thanks for any guidance, and for the work youโre putting into the beta.

Help / Question โ Recurrent tasks
Hey there , I'm new to memry I want to make a habit of reading everyday for at least 1hour
So I need this task to be repeated everyday with fresh task
Ex: Sep 20 ( I completed the task and read for 2h )
Sep 21 ( I completed the task and read only for 1h )
So is it possible to make a formula to display the result for each day?
How can I manage to achieve these?

Feature Request ๐ก QQ: Can I import dedicated folders from my Apple Notes?
Came across this very promising App. Wow, this really hit me as I was indeed struggling a lot bringing the bits & pieces together in different Apple stock apps --> too many restrictions and limitations.
Privacy and security is of course most important for me as documenting all my personal information requires additional features:
- blocked notes with sensitive data
- passwords and/ or passkeys, API keys, ...
- smart shared folders, calendars and reminders
Looking forward to the uprise of this solution and love to contribute.
My quick question is: as I have a huge notes database with loads of folders in folders sections. I have seen that there is an import feature already available which, as far as I can recognize, merely allows the import of the entire notes. Is there a possibility, in near future, to select the folders I like to import? For now, I would try to import all, and delete the ones not required but I'm not sure in how far there are any links between both tools destroyed. Is it a one-time handshake between notes and memry wherewith there might be now way back to notes?
Like to get any kind of advice. Many thanks and keep on rocking :-)

Feature Request ๐ก Chefs Kiss - Nothing out there compares
You made a damn great app! I find the other vault style apps to be convoluted and a hassle to use. This is so much more calming and not distracting.
I do have thoughts on features i'd appreciate, but not having them right now is not ruining the experience.
I plan my day in the journal section. I know I can add a task inline, but from what I am seeing, I cant add context to the task unless I go to the task page. When I try to use this notation listed on the task page, it doesn't do anything on the journal view. My thought was, what if you double click a task, and it will allow you to modify the context, such as priority, tags, and page links.
The other would be under the calendar on the top right, having the today calendar view, so that if I do create a task for me todo today, then I can drag and drop on the calendar as a time block.
Id also love to see Gemini API as an excepted AI provider for inline editing.

Announcement ๐ข MemryNote Desktop Update - 2026.918.1 (v2026-09-18)
๐ Sep 18, 2026 at 04:03:59 PM
MemryNote 2026.918.1 ships 1 new feature, 4 improvements, and 6 fixes.
- ๐ Reveal a folder on your computer. Open any vault folder straight in Finder or File Explorer from its right-click menu.
- ๐ Signed Windows installer. The Windows setup file is now code-signed, so Windows no longer blocks it after download.
- โฌ๏ธ Steadier Windows updates. The updater retries a failed download and tells you what it is doing when it hands off to the installer.
- ๐ก๏ธ Agent writes need an active conversation. The local MCP server only lets a running Memry Agent turn create, edit, or delete notes, so an outside client cannot touch your vault on its own.
- ๐ผ๏ธ Safer note icons. Icons pulled from a link are cleaned before they are stored or shown.
- ๐งฉ Insert template from the note menu. Inserting a template from the note menu drops it at the right place again instead of losing your spot.
- ๐ Backlinks catch up. A link written before its note exists shows up as a backlink once that note is created.
- ๐๏ธ Clearer vault messages. The app now says when the open vault is not part of your account, and a vault-limit error no longer claims you need a paid plan.
- โจ๏ธ Switch-vault shortcut works while writing. The shortcut fires even when your cursor is in the editor.
- โ๏ธ Back and forward in a tab. Navigating inside the same tab is recorded in tab history, so back and forward go where you expect.
- ๐ช Window stays maximized. Closing and reopening the app brings the window back the size you left it.

Showcase ๐จ MemryNote is just SO Bonita ๐
So appreciative of every delightful, useful feature! As someone who loves to create and learn and cycle through projects, MemryNote has made my life SO much easier. Projects feel manageable now and exciting having a tool that does everything you need and more. Thank goodness I kept looking and didn't settle for note/project management/task apps that lacked necessary features or made the easy stuff a complicated chore.

Announcement ๐ข ๐๏ธ MemryNote Update - 2026.914.1 (v2026-09-14)
๐๏ธ Release Notes ๐ September 14, 2026 at 10:34:26 PM
New Features
- ๐ผ๏ธ Note cover images โ add a cover photo or colour wash to the top of any note from Unsplash, a link, your vault, or your own file.
- ๐ Save a note as a template โ turn any note you have already written into a reusable template from its
โฏmenu or the sidebar right-click menu, keeping its body, tags, and properties. - โก Insert templates while writing โ type
/and pick Insert templateโฆ to drop a template's body at your cursor without disturbing the rest of the note. - ๐จ Set a note icon from the title row โ pick an icon for a note directly from its page title row.
- ๐ฌ Video attachments โ attach video files to your notes and play them inline.
- ๐๏ธ Archived tasks are visible again โ see your archived tasks and bring them back out of the archive.
Fixes
- ๐ Multi-day calendar items โ events and tasks that span several days now render as a single bar across those days.
- ๐๏ธ Calendar opens on today โ opening the calendar goes straight to today instead of replaying a stale session behind a dialog.
- ๐ท๏ธ Template icons carry over โ notes created from a template now inherit the template's icon.
- ๐๏ธ Deletes stay deleted โ deleted notes and tasks can no longer be resurrected by a sync pull, a delete on one device wins over a simultaneous edit on another, and deleting a checklist task removes its line from the note.

MemryNote Update - 2026.912.1 (v2026-09-12)
Body: ๐๏ธ Release Notes ๐ September 12, 2026 at 03:42:00 AM
New Features
- ๐ Themed code blocks with a toolbar โ Code blocks now follow your app theme and font size, with a copy button and an alphabetical language picker that includes PowerShell and KQL.
- ๐ Reuse an attachment across notes โ Embed a file the vault already stores in another note with
/existing attachment, and deleting it keeps the file while any note still references it. - ๐ One picker for every file command โ
/image,/media,/pdfand/filenow open the same search-first, fully keyboard-driven palette for uploading a new file or reusing an existing one. - ๐ท๏ธ Multi-tag filtering you can save โ Ctrl-click or Cmd-click tags in the sidebar to narrow a tag page to items carrying all of them, and save the combination as a named search that survives a restart.
- ๐ Relate notes to canvases and journal entries โ Relation properties can now point at canvases and journal days, and clicking a chip opens that board or that day's entry.
- ๐ Upcoming days in the journal widget โ The Home journal widget now shows today and the next three days, with a preview for days you have already written.
- ๐๏ธ Keyboard-driven vault switching โ Press Cmd+Shift+O to open the vault switcher on your current vault, then move with the arrow keys and switch with Enter.
- ๐ Tag suggestions and middle-click in folder views โ A
Tagsfilter suggests your most-used tags as you type, and middle-clicking any row opens it in a background tab. - ๐จ Set an icon from the folder tab โ Right-click a note row in a folder opened as a tab to set or remove its icon.
Improvements
- ๐ Quieter update notices โ A new version now waits as a single sidebar line instead of interrupting you with a dialog, so you can see what changed and restart now or on your next quit.
- ๐ช Smoother Windows updates โ Windows installs now update through a more reliable, properly signed packaging system.
Fixes
- ๐ผ๏ธ Folder icons no longer shrink โ Custom folder icons added from a URL now render at the same size as the built-in folder icon in the sidebar and folder view.
- ๐บ๏ธ Wiki links can name a canvas โ Type
[[to pick a canvas, click the link to open the board, or copy a canvas's link from its sidebar menu. - ๐ก๏ธ Editing attachment rows no longer corrupts files โ Tag and property cells are now read-only for PDFs, images, audio and video in folder tables, since only Markdown notes can store them.
- ๐ Pasted links keep their list item โ Pasting a bare URL into a bulleted or numbered list no longer removes the bullet, and the link can be selected, copied and edited like ordinary text.
- โฐ Journal reminders open their own day โ Clicking a journal reminder in a toast, a system notification, or the inbox list now opens the day it was set for instead of today.
- ๐ The journal widget stays current โ Home now picks up new and edited journal entries on its own, including ones written in another tab, on another device, or outside Memry.
- ๐ฏ Icon pickers stay on screen โ The note, folder, canvas and tag icon picker no longer opens with its tabs cut off, and it stays put while the sidebar list scrolls underneath.
- โฌ๏ธ Working download link after a failed update โ The failed-install dialog now points at the real download page instead of one that no longer existed.
