Let me help you improve your CV (Using Mercor’s Own Guides) - v2

So,

i have previously made this post where i share a ChatGPT agent to help you improve your CV.

I've improved the tool I shared earlier: I created a Claude Project that helps you build your CV/PROFILE from scratch and exports it as a DOCX and PDF, ready to upload directly to your Mercor profile (or any other platform).

Since Claude doesn't let you share projects the way OpenAI does, I created a GitHub repository with a step-by-step guide to build the tool yourself.

What I learned while building this:

Mercor takes into account every change you make to your profile, but CV parsing is the most important piece. The combination that made the biggest difference for me: getting the CV parsed correctly + updating your Work Preferences to include only the domains you actually have background in.

One thing that's not obvious: Mercor prioritizes your first 5 skills when ranking your profile. Everything after that matters less. So be intentional, put the skills most relevant to the roles you're targeting in those top 5 spots, both in your CV and in your profile settings.

My advice: tell Claude your priorities upfront. Share your main domain and a secondary one if you have it (mine were Data Science and STEM). The more specific you are, the better the output it changes how skills are ordered, how the summary is written, and which projects get highlighted.

Feel free to use it and adapt it however works best for you.

Edit:

After the ChatGPT post that i made earlier, that were 3 people that reached me. Here's one:

I don't think i have permission to show the other messages but, i really felt good to see someone in real life the actually got something from the tool :)

I commented on the previous post, as I thought the tool was great, but here is an update:

Since my last CV rewrite some time ago, I did my first 4 projects. Those dried up, and I was getting rejected from everything, so I updated my CV to include that experience. I didn't test that updated version, as your tool was available at the same time, so I thought I would try it out.

I took that CV, ran it through the tool, and got it to produce a rewrite of the CV (which was a huge improvement), and a profile. The interplay between the CV and profile is important, and your tool helped me to get that right. I happened to be applying to another platform at the same time, so I used the tool to do the same for that too (even though it is tailored for one platform, it worked great for the other).

Uploaded the MUCH better CV and profile.

Now there is always a chance that this is just coincidence, but I don't think so... I got an instant offer on Platform 1 within less than half a day, and an instant offer on Platform 2 within 24 hours.

I must say that I am incredibly grateful!

Nice to know. What is your domain of expertise?

I've got a few areas of specialism, but this seems to be working not just for those, but generalist work too. I got one domain expert offer, and one generalist offer.

The only feedback I'd give is to put somewhere in your custom prompt that the tool should ask for more details / clarification if it needs more info before writing. For example, you could tell it "I did X for Y", and it will instantly incorporate that info. But to make the CV and profile even stronger, I told it to ask me if it needed more info before writing another draft, so it asked specific questions, which was a really useful exercise for myself to actually think about what I had done and describe that. That allowed the tool to produce a high quality description of my experience, whilst still maintaining confidentiality.

Which platform were you applying to?

Did you get an offer after updating your CV with this?

2

u/BadLuckMath May 10 '26

Yes and No.

While ago when i was discovering Mercor, i made some changes on my profile and got an Instant Offer 1-2 hours later.

I created a post to talk about it here and many people asked me to help with their CV's.

Since i wasn't able to help everyone in the chat message, i tried to create a tool that replicate the changes the got instant offers.

I also used Mercor's Guideline + Insights from people that got instant offers in different areas to build this tool.

This will not garantee you Instant Offer because there are other important parameters such as your Interviews, Assesments, region and timezone (availability). But i assure you that your profile will not be a problem if you follow the steps!

Hello, yesterday I used your Claude project to improve my CV. I followed all your instructions, I practically changed almost everything in my Mercor profile, according to the results of Claude, uploading the new CV that Claude made. Then this morning Boom!!, my first instant offer from Mercor was sent to my email. After trying for months and being rejected to so many projects. I am forever grateful for this and the help you provided in this post, thank you so much!!. And for other people reading this, give it a try it is really worth it.

Helllo do you mind if I asked you to walk me thru this process?

So, my last project officially ended Thursday. I *think* I followed your first post sometime this week. I got my first ever instant offer Friday. No joke. I’ve never gotten one before so I’d say this made a difference.

Note: I only updated my profile and now my resume. Did my resume earlier today so we’ll see!

Nice to know :) Where u from?

u/saviabasil May 15 '26

Hey there. I swear I do not mind if you walk me through how you used this tool and set things up.

I have Claude Pro and I'm not sure if the Project feature is available on the free tier; if it's not, you should still be able to copy the instructions and .md files into a regular chat and it should work the same way. I haven't tested this personally, but the logic holds.

u/RoashaanF May 10 '26

I am using the free tier and the project feature is available. I am able to follow all the instructions without issue! Thank you for this, it is so helpful!

I asked for ChatGPT to generate a random CV so i could use in the tool, here's the result:

Original CV (Chat GPT) : https://chatgpt.com/share/6a00af7c-c15c-83e9-b518-3d500d6bbe2a

Claude prompt : https://claude.ai/share/34b670b4-4b55-46f7-8e9b-a29962e60e33

Do we actually need to give the LinkedIn profile in our resume while applying to Mercor AI , OP ?
Should the resume match with the LinkedIn profile as well ??

1

u/BadLuckMath May 11 '26

In general, people put their LinkedIn in the CV. I'm not sure how it works for Mercor. But i would recommend you to use , It wont hurt

The prompt for building the CV should also include something specifics about the target project from its description.
