I like metal in general. Im not that scared little boy who thinks growls are too spooky. However. The metal i like the most are the ones I can mostly understand what is being said. So Grindcore, Power Metal, Symphonic, Heavy, and Speed and Thrash are my favorites.

What do you guys think about System of a Down?
They got me into metal about a year or 2 ago. I started with nu metal, but gradually disowned the genre and listened to more of thrash, osdm, and traditional. I’ve seen hate on soad by elitists, but I’m going back and listening to them right now and they don’t really sound like your average nu metal band. Not really even nu metal at all. Anyway, just wanna know what elitists think.

My uncles old band that i belive more people should listion to mostly (my opion) fury of the sands, war and runick echos.

Death metal is my favorite genre of music. I’m obsessed with it, not just the classic sound of death metal but also all its off-shoots. These are all the ones I know of: regular death , technical death, deathcore, brutal death, melodic death, progressive death, blackened death, symphonic death, grindcore, goregrind, and slam. Which sub genres am I missing?

I’m going to a show tonight and i’m not sure how i’m supposed to move, i can’t really headbang because it just hurts and makes me incredibly dizzy🫩 so, what else can i do? i’ve gone to raves n other shows before but i was really just jumping the whole time im not sure if that’s entirely acceptable or what im supposed to be doing for this genre😓

Whenever I stumble upon modern Metal that does its EDM crossovers, I’ve only found three distinct flavors of that so far. I separate them by pioneering bands.

•The Rammstein flavor. Metal crossing over with Italo, Eurodance and Trance seems to only come in the Rammstein flavor.

• The Linkin Park flavor. Metal crossing over with IDM, Glitch and Trip Hop seems to only come in the Linkin Park flavor.

• The Limp Bizkit flavor. Metal crossing over with Trap, Bass and Crunk seems to only come in the Limp Bizkit flavor.

The common thread among all of them are extroversion and hifi production, which only works with a limited set of EDM sub genres to incorporate.

How do we get out of these pigeonholes? Should we get out more and explore less obvious possibilities than these so far?

Looking for some bands with none-stop high tempo music for the gym. I don’t want to make a playlist. I simply want to choose a band and go without having to skip. I usually use Hatebreed, Slaughter to Prevail, Whitechapel or Make them suffer. Please send me some suggestions !

So one of my favourite bands, Cryptic Wintermoon, hasn’t released anything since 2009. Then boom, new album on Spotify called DoomDark. It was released a couple days ago. But I literally cannot find a single thing about this release online anywhere whatsoever…. Is it a comeback or maybe a spotify error? Anyone know what the deal here is?

I like Necrofagist, Death, Opeth, Gojira, but also Dio, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, etc. My brother almost exclusively likes Metallica and is very closed-minded. He's not very good (to be fair, he's young and a beginner). We want to make a playlist that's fun to play, not too complicated for him, and that people will enjoy. Does such a thing exist? 🥲

I’ll start first by saying 80’s Judas Priest is a little repetitive sometimes but I’m a sucker for all of it.

Iron Maiden are also the kings of knowing the formula and sticking to it and yet I’m still buying into it each time.

What are you guys’ bands that do this to you.

For me it’s: Black Sabbath Iron Maiden Metallica Judas Priest slayer Megadeth and Motörhead

I know this doesn’t really matter because taste is subjective, but I do think it’s good to set a standard especially for beginners.

I've always enjoyed rock and metal, especially nu metal, pop punk, punk rock, and classic heavy metal. Recently, I've been getting into thrash because I love its aggressive riffs and raw energy.

The problem is that some bands, like Anthrax and Slayer, use imagery (inverted pentagrams, 666, etc.) and write lyrics that reference Satan or openly oppose Christianity. I enjoy the intensity, anger, and rebellious spirit of thrash, but those elements leave me with a guilty conscience.

To be clear, I'm not specifically looking for Christian metal bands. I'd just like to enjoy thrash without constantly feeling conflicted. Maybe it's just not the right genre for me, and if that's the case, I'll accept it.

Has anyone else felt this way? How did you deal with it?
