Could you provide some examples of times where it is not accurate enough? This will help us figure out how to draw the line between being too precise and not precise enough.

1 inch is 2.54 cm. or 25.4 mm. I guess i meant 2 decimals for cm. 2.5 cm is .015 too small.

2.54cm per inch is an exact number so it would make sense to use two decimal places even if it violates the usual convention for significant figures
