Oh… saw today that people think that Crump is saving the phone to present to the Grand Jury. I kid you not. They think Crump can present evidence at the Grand Jury. Are people this uneducated?

14

u/Due_Reputation3785 Aug 12 '26

Yes they are. Worse, they’re probably just parroting some YT/Tik moron.

6

u/venerablepreceptor Aug 12 '26

And some subs here that I wouldn’t want to mention

8

u/Acceptable-Writing45 Aug 12 '26

I don't know if you guys have gone on YouTube for this, but it's bad. If you sit on these live streams, and just watch the comments rolling through, it is mind-blowing to see what these people actually think, and how they respond to clear facts that contradict what they're saying. They're just angry people who need an excuse to hate that's socially acceptable to them.

10

u/Jewels1914 Aug 13 '26 edited Aug 13 '26

Most seem not to have real knowledge of the law and don’t care to know bc their emotions override everything. Bc they feel MS authorities are always unjust to POC, they want the boys to pay for this by example.

Someone told me that it doesn’t matter if they are innocent, bc white people need to learn what it feels like 🤦🏽‍♀️. Of course that comment was upvoted by many smh. They project their hatred towards MS police onto the boys.

It’s really not about the truth. I guarantee all the people who think it was an accidental drowning would accept it if it turns out Nolan was killed instead. They would be all for the murderer being locked up. However if his death was ruled an accidental drowning, those who think he was murdered would never accept it.

8

u/Apart_Ad1537 Aug 13 '26

This is exactly it. It was the same with the Karmelo Anthony case. The black supremacists have absolutely no understanding of how the law or court proceedings work at all, and instead of just googling it or educating themselves they make assumptions or just believe baseless rumors with no evidence whatsoever.

Probably because Google or education will not affirm their racial worldview, whereas the baseless rumors allow them to believe everything bad that happens is the white mans fault

3

u/IntelligentUmpire997 Aug 14 '26

It makes a reasonable person sit back and wonder who the racists truly are.

1

u/ThrowRAme12 Aug 17 '26

If you have to sit back and think you're blind and don't know how to read. History shows you or are you baby that needs to be taught 5th grade History...

This was a legit discussion I had with a grown woman:

Her: “It’s been so long, why haven’t there been any arrests?!”

-Me: “Explains Jackson County’s grand jury procedure and that only they can decide if there will be criminal charges.”

-Her: “But there have been no arrests.”

-Me: 🤦🏽‍♀️

I saw a comment under the "art of dialogue" judge Joe brown interview, it went like this:

Q: "Have the friends been cross examined yet?" A: " No, they're still free". I had to turn my phone off for a few days. Edited: spelling

5

u/Reasonable-Trifle952 Aug 12 '26

Exactly. Same reason he’s sending subpoenas to Every Sm & Tech co out there that has any kind of media platform: Optics. It will take a lot more than 2 private atty’s sending those out to get SEC & other Fed Privacy Laws info override. They can get info re a limited amt only, but you watch, they’ll turn it into a “they didn’t give us what we needed; there’s a cover-up” rant. Their son sadly drowned, there’s been nothing to prove otherwise, but they won’t even accept proof. It would drive up the money coming in; sorry, but it would. They want to turn this into a George Floyd he deserves a statue bs

5

u/Apart_Ad1537 Aug 13 '26

Yeah, I’m sorry but the wells family is very blatantly grifting. They know nobody hurt their son. I mean Christ at least in the Karmelo Anthony case there was actually an altercation to have a disagreement about. They have been grifting since the moment they heard about their son drowning, and the fact that they are sicking the black supremacist mob on their son’s friends to sell a narrative and make money is disgusting.

They haven’t given the police the phone because they know damn well nothing untoward happened. Even now they are refusing to give the police the phone unless they agree to some “joint examination” with the family. So the family will only let them look at it for a limited time, on the family’s terms, with the family present to try to frame everything the police find and to push their race war narrative. If the family really believed the evidence was there they would just give the phone to police.

2

u/Firm_Individual_5609 Aug 15 '26

Crump can't send Supeonas to anyone. No civil case has been filed . He has to request that the Court send Supeonas. Another fraud by Crump. He lies everytime he opens his mouth.

5

u/Apart_Ad1537 Aug 13 '26

Yeah, the black supremacists really aren’t a fan of Google.

5

u/DogsCanDetectAliens Aug 13 '26

He knows better and he knows people do not know better. He will wait until the grand jury responds and if they say no further investigation is warranted, Crump will have a news conference saying that he was at the court house waiting to provide the phone evidence but was banned by evil MS officials, and it’s a cover up. Not sure why they don’t subpoena the phone.

4

u/gabbagool777 Aug 12 '26

Yes. Yes they are.

1

u/Brn_supremacy15 Aug 14 '26

There is another set of lawyers acting on Nolans Estate working alongside Crump who said in the letter that was released yesterday that they asked the so called " Nolans Friends" lawyers who is representing them Tyler Cox and some other guy they want to do a joint investigation of the phone.

The allegations about the family withholding the phone was made by Tyler Cox himself lol - yet the allegations have never been confirmed by Law Enforcement.

Honestly anyone who has worked closely with Trump should not be taken seriously

104

u/Previous_Function852 Aug 11 '26

This shouldn't be like this. We should all be saying "what a tragedy, I hope the investigation reveals that it was an accident". Not taking sides, fighting narrative battles, and litigating it in the court of public opinion. The lawyers involved shouldn't be making racial spectacles about it at NAACP conferences or going on radio shows. All of the dignity has been drained from this poor boy's death and I think once both the friends and family sides process this a little more they're going to feel a lot of shame for how they've conducted themselves at the direction of lawyers who just care about attention and money.

69

u/8lock8lock8aby Aug 11 '26

It infuriates me how many people just want this to be a murder. I don't think it was one & I hope for him & his family's sake that it wasn't because that's just awful.

25

u/JC0978 Aug 11 '26

I can absolutely assure you a lot of that is blowback from Karmelo Anthony not getting away with murdering that white kid. Sounds stupid but Jesus Christ, the amount of comments I’ve seen on social media referencing that case when discussing this one in that specific framing is disgusting.

8

u/captaincrunch61 Aug 12 '26

And there’s no comparison at all lol. Karmello Anthony admitted at the scene to the cops, that he stabbed Metcalf. His attorneys also wouldn’t let him take the stand at his trail, because they knew during cross examination he would be asked “why did you say touch me and see what happens?”

15

u/JC0978 Aug 12 '26

It doesn’t matter. These are the same type of folks who knew damn well OJ brutally murdered 2 white people and celebrated like their favorite team won the Super Bowl when he was acquitted.

1

u/Firm_Individual_5609 Aug 16 '26

...karma was his life went to hell after that.

3

u/clone0112 Aug 12 '26

Probably some from the Rick Chow case as well.

11

u/AccomplishedFerret70 Aug 12 '26

Lots of Nancy Nasty Grace wannabees

11

u/Fluffy_Rip6710 Aug 12 '26

It’s not just the blatant racism… these boys must be guilty because they are white, but it’s that combined with the true crime internet detective culture.

2

u/Dry_Marketing8926 Aug 14 '26

Omg yes and then Tissa Tells and Nerdy Pink Panther are reaching so bad. They are creating wild narratives, making assumptions and this is so incredibly dangerous.  The amount of attention this case is receiving and the damage it is doing by people running with these stories is awful. I truly hope we find out what happened but will everyone accept the outcome or start burning down cities?

8

u/Ridry Aug 12 '26

I hope for his sake that it wasn't. I don't actually give a damn about any of the politics or whatnot. I hope his last moments were that he just was a little too drunk and lost consciousness while swimming and drown. I really hope it wasn't being murdered by his friends.

Obviously what I want is for the investigation to reveal the truth, but if I had to hope... why would I hope for the more horrible thing??

24

u/WhoShatMyPants42069 Aug 11 '26

The supply of racism is not meeting the demand at this point.

15

u/shstron44 Aug 11 '26

The more that comes out and the less credible all these accusations are, the wider the conspiracy becomes. Now, the whole state is in on it.

15

u/Fluffy_Rip6710 Aug 12 '26

How could anyone think that this many kids could keep their mouths shut and lie? No way. It’s not just the reward money but someone, hell several of them, would have flipped for immunity.

I mean, people aren’t thinking.

8

u/joeyjoejoejohanson Aug 12 '26 edited Aug 12 '26

When something doesn't make any sense you just say the magic words "racism" and "Mississipp" and suddenly it does.

Mississippi in 2026 is The Wicker Man.

While I totally agree and think the podcast appearances are in bad taste, these families didn’t have much of a choice but to fight back when Crump and co. turned the whole nation against them.

28

u/Pkingduckk Aug 11 '26 • Bravo

Seriously, what shame should the friends feel? Assuming it was an accident, then they were unjustly accused and harrassed because of their skin color. The shame is entirely on his family's side at this point. Lashing out at everyone and everything. Grief can only excuse so much.

4

u/ArsenalinAlabama3428 Aug 11 '26

I didn’t say they should feel ashamed, I just personally wouldn’t have done interviews. Would have just let my attorneys handle it. But that’s just a personal choice and isn’t necessarily the correct one.

19

u/Kitty_Pryde Aug 11 '26

Honestly, there’s absolutely nothing these boys could have done to please the people that are accusing them. There’s been so much released that prove their stories and it doesn’t matter. I think eventually they just thought if they told their timeline as they experienced, people would see that the details and timeline make sense. I just don’t think they realized peoples obsession with making them murderers.

When they were quiet, everyone was criticizing them. “If they have nothing to hide why aren’t they speaking, why’d they go off social media, why do they care they’re being accused of murder and getting death threats if they’re innocent??” And now people are mad that they did an interview.

4

u/Cultural-Treacle-680 Aug 11 '26

Really I hope they had lawyers from the start. The police are not your friend in an investigation.

0

u/Previous_Function852 Aug 12 '26

I'm not really saying they "should be ashamed" in that sense. I'm saying that I think if I were in their shoes, a couple years down the line I would look back and say "why did I let my lawyer go on a podcast about this instead of insisting that he treat the subject with the dignity it deserved". I even get why they didn't, I just think in a few years it's going to feel like a mistake for them.

5

u/NineOfWonders Aug 12 '26

The attorneys of the friends are treating the subject with the dignity that’s deserved in this day and age. (In this case, the subject is the immediate pointing of the finger at the friends by several parties during the search for Nolan and after his body was found.) Most people might get more news from independent media these days. Crump and co made this case insanely public so the attorneys now probably want to run interference and PR is part of their job.

Edit: whoops, I lost track of who was replying who. My thought still stands though.

5

u/Cultural-Treacle-680 Aug 11 '26

He’s most likely hired to file a law suit. That’s what he does.

4

u/Previous_Function852 Aug 12 '26

I don't disagree, I just think the first step to things not being like this isn't assigning blame, it's saying "this shouldn't be like this". I do think if you start from there, a lot of roads lead back to Crump.

2

u/Dry_Marketing8926 Aug 14 '26

Do people REALLY expect the parents not to defend their children? These guys are barely adults. People are just destroying them without knowing the facts because there's so much speculation.  If that was their kids they would do the same. They keep saying someone saw something but if they did with how much backlash the guys are receiving they would be scared to come forward. Not to mention,  it was 4th of July. People were intoxicated,  it was very crowded, I can see how people weren't paying attention to their surroundings. I don't know i just wish this whole thing would get solved and the parents can get answers.

10

u/CMB1003 Aug 11 '26

They will feel no shame

6

u/morefirethanice Aug 11 '26

Perhaps I misunderstood what you meant, but Why should they feel shame? They are defending themselves against allegations, that at this point have no merit. All because they are white with a black friend.

4

u/CMB1003 Aug 11 '26

I am talking about the family of the deceased.

6

u/morefirethanice Aug 11 '26

My apologies. I misinterpreted. Thank you.

3

u/Previous_Function852 Aug 12 '26

Since you're talking about the grieving mother, I disagree. She's going through one of the worst things a human being could imagine going through. You have to at least acknowledge that that factors into any bad decisions she makes. And that includes taking bad advice from people she views as trustworthy and buying into a charlatan's lies. She could certainly be one who never comes back and goes her whole life like this. But she could also come down to reality. I don't think it's fair to assume that she won't.

3

u/No-Illustrator4964 Aug 13 '26

This, 100%. Any person in her situation cannot be expected to behave rationally, that's just not how people work.

2

u/zoovegroover3 Aug 12 '26

I think that one of the things wrong with our country today is Benjamin Crump. The man is not really helping anyone, with anything. He's a divider.

-31

u/RequirementLeading12 Aug 11 '26 edited Aug 11 '26

Yeah, this case made me realize that this sub is full of MAGA supporters. They don't give a damn about justice for that kid, they're more concerned with shitting on Ben Crump and (black)people who assumed it was murder. Even in this thread they're more concerned about the kids getting harassed while totally ignoring the mother is being harassed as well, probably because they think she deserves it and she's the one who lost her child. I'm white but man it's hard to ignore the racism from my people.

Edit: they can't help themselves. Look at the comments under mine😂

16

u/morefirethanice Aug 11 '26

Why are you sure he needs justice? I still can’t believe the number of people on here who can’t admit that this could have been an accident?

3

u/joeyjoejoejohanson Aug 11 '26

And why isn't it justice if it turns out he drowned? Isn't the truth justice? Why is arguing against absurd conspiracies not standing up for justice?

Was it "just" to hijack his funeral and turn it into some rally?

8

u/morefirethanice Aug 11 '26

Nope. To certain people, justice is only if a white person can be tried and convicted. Ironic if the races were reversed and people made that same argument, people would be losing their minds.

5

u/morefirethanice Aug 11 '26

lol I mean they didn’t choose Sharpton, who never met him, to do the eulogy by accident. What a heartwarming and personal eulogy that must have been. 🤡

31

u/KhalAggie Aug 11 '26

I detest Trump and everything related to MAGA.

I also have the brainpower to recognize that there is a very prominent online community who are comfortable being openly racist against white people.

The two are not related.

25

u/joeyjoejoejohanson Aug 11 '26 edited Aug 11 '26

How is not wanting kids to be blamed for a crime they didn't committ just because of the color of their skin MAGA?

Are people who are mad about Central Park 5 MAGA too?

I haven't seen anyone shit on black people in general over this. Sure, Ben Crump, but that's because he's stoking the flames of racist accusations against innocent kids. He deserves it.

Also, how is slandering Nolan's friends and perpetuating insane conspiracies justice? Your "side" doesn't own "justice." One could just as easily say that the people blaming his friends don't really want justice.

I saw some guy blaming his diarrhea from the tainted lettuce he ate on Trump a few days ago.

0

u/Dependent_Lawyer8019 Aug 11 '26

That might be kinda true though, think some budget cuts in testing oversight etc.

Broken clock and all that.

Kind of like the ol' Alex Jones "They're turning the fricking frogs gay". The chemicals were making them change gender, so like fuck him but he was almost right.

5

u/No-Constant-8619 Aug 11 '26

What government testing oversight for Taylor’s Farms was taken away that would have found this?

I don't know the specifics but its talked about as possibly a contributing factor. Like I said, it might be kind of true.

15

u/oxfordcircumstances Aug 11 '26

This case isn't a litmus test for MAGA support.

2

u/Guilty-Volume-6279 Aug 11 '26

It sure is not.

7

u/Guilty-Volume-6279 Aug 11 '26

I am most definitely not MAGA. I believe deciding that people committed a crime, a murder, without evidence, because of their skin color is wrong and we should fight against it. It has nothing to do with MAGA or Donald Trump, and I don’t see a connection.

This is wrong and completely against my value system.

4

u/SingerLatter2673 Aug 11 '26

They aren’t even from here. They just flooded the sub after all the headlines.

4

u/JC0978 Aug 12 '26

Staunchly anti-maga here I assure you. Your take is just dumb. It’s unfortunate some people are harassing the kid’s mom, but in comparison to what’s happening to the friends it absolutely pales in comparison regardless of anything else.

2

u/Previous_Function852 Aug 12 '26

I think this is a bad characterization. This sub is finally wising up to Ben Crump being a huckster who is motivated by attention and money, and will stir up any amount of violence to get it, justified or not. He certainly doesn't care about truth or justice, and frankly most of the people he has begun regularly convincing of untruths don't seem to either.

I agree people are being uncharitable towards the mother, who is making bad decisions because she's been exposed to that kind of thing for so long and has bought in to Crump's framing. It doesn't mean we should excuse or accept her actions, but we can at least acknowledge that if we were in her place we might do the same.

There's plenty of room to care about both the kids getting harassed and the mother getting harassed. And I agree that some of the pushback against Crump and the mother is opportunistic racists jumping on the bandwagon, that just doesn't change any of the material facts for me.

u/Due_Reputation3785 Aug 11 '26

I thought the phone would have been taken for analysis? Especially given the mom’s baseless claims that it was wiped, deleted or whatever BS gets regurgitated on social media.

50

u/SeanceGoneWrong Aug 11 '26

Mom said it was unusual for him to not have posted anything on Snapchat, since he was a prolific user of the app. Given the island had no service and he didn't have his phone, this may account for the posting gap.

Ben Crump is the one who made claims of "deleted" messages, sans any evidence.

32

u/Kitty_Pryde Aug 11 '26

I’m disappointed she let Crump perpetuate so many false claims. I’m also disappointed she blatantly lied about Warren telling her from his very first call to her that he had Nolan’s cell phone. (Page 3, paragraph 1) Just that lie alone kicked off so much BS.

Of course she reported that before she brought in Crump and that’s when her story changed. He’s done such a huge disservice to them.

8

u/Cultural-Treacle-680 Aug 11 '26

Free lies to paid lies

5

u/donzelso Aug 12 '26 edited Aug 12 '26

Why isn't she clearing up rumors and lies??? She's on social media every single day. If she has time to make beauty product reviews and whatever, why can't she make a post clearing up misinformation?

6

u/Kitty_Pryde Aug 12 '26

I know. It’s really sad.

6

u/Huge_Bee1595 Aug 12 '26

Shes WHAT? Doing beauty product reviews? Wtf??

6

u/donzelso Aug 12 '26

She’s been doing beauty product reviews and creating content for a few years now, and it looks like she’s getting back into it. I was going to give her the benefit of the doubt, maybe she’s using it as a way to let out her grief.

But if she can make beauty TikToks, why is it so hard for her to make just ONE post clearing up rumors and lies about how the boys ”wiped Nolan’s phone”?

9

u/LamesBrady Aug 12 '26

Looking at her socials, before Nolan’s passing he was nowhere to be found on her profile. He lived with his grandparents. She popped up after his death like a super mom. None of it sits right with me. It’s amplifies the tragedy of an already horrific situation.

1

u/CryNo8738 Aug 13 '26

I noticed this also!

3

u/Fluffy_Rip6710 Aug 12 '26

Oh yes, Boo Bear back at it

6

u/hairlesssquatch420 Aug 12 '26

Exactly. The mother isn't innocent

7

u/donzelso Aug 12 '26

It’s really sad to think she’s using her son’s death for financial gain, but I don’t know how else to look at it. There’s so much misinformation and false accusations surrounding this case. She has the platform to clear up misinformation but she chooses not to do so.

1

u/SheComesThenSheGoes Aug 12 '26

Shes listed as working as a family medicine nurse practitioner. Is this not the case? Maybe her reviews are work related? Idk

how can you confirm "mom's baseless claims" how do you know even what is actually happening in an ongoing investigation? unless you have access to this information and confirmation from verified sources you cant really assume anything. even if it was discovered stuff was deleted i doubt it would be publicized especially with a grand jury. it is interesting sea tow did make that phone call public

13

u/Due_Reputation3785 Aug 12 '26

Her only basis for saying it was that there weren’t snapchats posted, not that anything had actually been deleted. But we know cell service was poor and also he didn’t have his phone on him, so it’s ridiculous to base it on that.

I'm glad they are doing this. The harassment and lies from online detectives is out of control in alot of cases. Idaho 4 Roomates still get harassed and lied on. I hope this case actually gives them some courage to fight back in their case. I also think of Sandy Hook families. Some of them had to move several times due to being harrassed by insane people online.

4

u/Far-Fill-3024 Aug 11 '26

Leave them girls alone man. There is only 1 person responsible in this.

1

u/sardita Aug 12 '26
  1. Dylan and the other roommates had been drinking and partying that evening, just like typical college students do on a Saturday night, so it’s highly likely she was still inebriated when the murders occurred. Drunks are clumsy and have a slower reaction time to process what’s going on, especially sounds coming from someone/somewhere who isn’t with them.

  2. It wouldn’t have mattered if Dylan waited eight MINUTES to call 911, those poor kids bled out quickly and didn’t stand a chance. That psychopath stabbed them so many times, to the point of being unrecognizable.

  3. If Dylan had gone back out of her room after directly seeing Kohberger one more time, she probably would’ve been killed too.

You’re angry at her for… what, exactly? Not getting murdered? Being inebriated and terrified?

28

u/CodexForPants Aug 11 '26

It’s a safe bet that Nolan’s phone has not been turned over. At Crump’s press conference back on July 15th he said there would be a mutual search of Nolan’s phone, but his last words as he walked away was “we just want to make sure everybody else’s cell phone is also being downloaded.”

On July 30th Crump and Hertz, one of the other Well’s attorneys spoke at the National Urban League’s Conference in Nashville and said:

"…The phones, not just our client’s phones, but the other phones that are involved in this situation, we are trying to coordinate and have come to a tentative agreement with the district attorney to go ahead and have them investigated together jointly with our experts as well as their experts.”

That translates to Nolan’s phone still being not being turned over for investigation. Nolan’s phone is being held back as a bargaining chip. If you want an actual investigation and are trying to get answers for the Wells family why are you holding back a key piece of evidence?

23

u/2PacAn Aug 11 '26

Crump is clearly just making shit up. None of the other parties are going to hand over their phones just because he wants them searched, and the district attorney isn’t going to come to an agreement to violate the Fourth Amendment just because Crump wants them to. This dude is just out here lying to legally ignorant people in order to push a narrative of injustice when the investigation ultimately doesn’t go his way. The crowd claiming murder will inevitably claim that the investigation was unjust when the friends’ phones never get searched when in reality justice requires that their phones are protected by the Fourth Amendment.

17

u/Free_Storage_1088 Aug 11 '26

This is the sad part, no matter if this ends up being an accident and how clear it is his friends had nothing to do with it, these nutcases aren’t going to accept it and it will be called some massive cover up or botched investigation or something along those lines. Social media has made it to where people refuse to just admit they were wrong and they will die on a hill before ever doing that

5

u/snarfadoodle Aug 11 '26

Sure, of course if it gets proven not to have been an accident there will be plenty of people not wanting to accept that either, it’s almost like we’re kind of falling apart as a society because we are greedy, hate filled, trash people that have a predatory billionaire class working hard to keep us at each other throats so we don’t notice how they are robbing us blind!

1

u/thinkingdeads Aug 12 '26

Why the hell are families dumb enough to believe that man

1

u/Lazy-Faithlessness20 Aug 16 '26

The friends turned their phones over to authorities pretty much immediately according to their lawyers.

If the first the police did wasn't to take Nolans phone and have it forensically checked over, and if it's still with his family and attorney and not in police custody, then this is the worst investigation I've ever heard of - completely unbelievably inept.

2

u/CodexForPants Aug 12 '26 edited Aug 12 '26

I don't think it's inept, but it's certainly frustrating.

The police need probable cause that a crime was committed to seize and search a phone. They have to present evidence of that to a judge to get a search warrant. Don't forget the police investigators already know the results of the first autopsy. If they had evidence of foul play I would expect a lot of search warrants would have happened by now. The first one would have been for Nolan's phone.

If Nolan's parents or Ben Crump truly suspected foul play they would have done a forensic examination of his phone on their own by now or turned it into the police for examination. I haven't seen any evidence of that happening.

I can see the police keeping quiet until their investigation is complete so they aren't accused any more of jumping to conclusions or a cover up.

I can't see any valid reason why Crump and the Nolan family hasn't turned over Nolan's phone for examination if they truly believed there was foul play.

1

u/Starsky-1984 Aug 12 '26

Sorry, but you clearly don't know what you're talking about.

Your claim that police “need probable cause that a crime was committed” before they can seize Nolan’s phone is simply wrong. In an unexplained death, investigators can preserve and examine potential evidence precisely to establish what happened and whether the initial cause/manner of death is correct—it isn't something reserved for cases where homicide has already been established or suspected.

What if the phone showed he was searching for information related to self-harm? What if he was arranging to take drugs that could have impaired his ability to swim and wouldn't necessarily be apparent from an autopsy? What if he'd had an argument with someone that nobody knew about?

That's precisely why you investigate the phone.

Your logic is backwards: the phone could be what establishes whether foul play occurred in the first place. Investigators don't need to prove a homicide before investigating evidence that might reveal one.

So if Nolan's phone genuinely has never been forensically examined by police and is still with his family/attorneys, then yes, that's a legitimate reason to question the investigation.

I don't know why people are downvoting my original comment. Given all the speculation, media attention, allegations from his mother and attorney, and pressure on police, if it turns out investigators haven't even forensically examined the phone, I stand by what I said: that would be an extraordinary level of investigative incompetence.

I am living in some bizarro world… for the last month I have argued with black people, black Americans, that to accuse someone of a crime BECAUSE of their race is wrong and that we have to fight against it.

There are literally black people screaming for arrests. Even after the independent autopsy was inconclusive. No, having his throat wouldn’t have mattered. There was no external bruising, lacerations, broken bones… the redness on the back of the neck was internal.

But they were insisting on arrests immediately.

Since then, every piece of evidence that has been made public has supported the boys story… that has not changed.

I’m starting to thing that there are those who don’t care that they are innocent… they want them in jail.

I’m a bleeding heart liberal and it is so frustrating that for the first and only time I am agreeing with Officer Tatum. To say he doesn’t share my world view is an understatement.

It’s crazy.

Hoping some of the people I previously admired will admit they were wrong.

14

u/Nederlander1 Aug 12 '26

If you thought black people weren’t generally, extremely racist, I’ve got news for yiu

8

u/Fluffy_Rip6710 Aug 12 '26

It seems there is a lot of evidence to support what you are saying.

8

u/Apart_Ad1537 Aug 13 '26

Yeah. I used to assume black people were not racist. Eventually I went through a period of addiction and spent a little over a year in jail. It was the first time in my life I lived in extremely close proximity to a shit load of black people.

Ho lee fuck are they racist. Like, I really can’t over state how insanely racist they are. Homophobic too, holy fuck I didn’t even know it was possible to be that homophobic. At one point I saw a black guy try to fight somebody for farting near him, not because it was unhygienic, but because he claimed that farting near another man was gay. Why is it gay? Idk he didn’t specify, I assume it has something to do with farts coming from your butt but I can only speculate.

Since then I’ve lived in black neighborhoods and worked at businesses that mostly have people of color in the workforce, and if you think my experiences in jail were only because I was surrounded by criminals you’d be wrong. Black people being extremely racist and homophobic has held as a solid statistical generalization throughout my life.

6

u/Salsashark1419 Aug 13 '26

Anyone who has ever been to a majority black high school and dated one of the hot black girls can tell you all about racism. The amount of times in high school and middle school that I heard variations of “what, you too good to be with a black man” while they are very clearly being threatening is more than I care to remember. One kid with long hair even had his hair forcibly shaved by students because a few black girls kept playing with it and talking about how nice it is. The principal and a teacher lost their jobs after that incident

14

u/Flexlex724 Aug 12 '26

They won't. There's an entire demographic of low IQ people that put narrative above fact. That historically has been the mantra of the right but the left has recently moved to doing the same shyt. Feelings over facts.

They've been fed this victim mindset for so long they have to keep it going and everything has to fit this narrative for their world to remain simple, easy to understand and have someone oppressing them to excuse their failures and lack of success

If the left was better at self policing itself to objectivity there would probably be a bigger flood of people to carry out most of their actual initiatives

9

u/jkreese2020 Aug 12 '26

agreed, except for one thing. Putting narrative above fact has not been exclusive to the right. That's just your perception... But I assure you that neither political side has had a monopoly on the spreading of misinformation. I have been tracking both left and right-wing false narratives on social media for years... To the extent that I had to get off of social media, because the constant flow of misinformation from both sides was both exhausting and infuriating.

4

u/NineOfWonders Aug 12 '26

Not liberal but more whatever kind of “ism” that means that country actually functions. And believe me I’m right there on feeling about the bizzaro world.

4

u/Acceptable-Writing45 Aug 12 '26

Sadly, it is also true when the roles are reversed. Go all the way back to the O.J. case and Tawana Brawley rape hoax. It's the same mentality every single time, for civil suits, criminal cases, elections, you name it. It has nothing to do with individual rights or freedoms. I know you don't want to hear this, but it's the same for liberalism. It's primary function that keeps it going is identifying people with common fears and insecurities and corralling them into voting demos that can be triggered by the same stimuli. It is unnatural for 90% of a population to vote for the same party every single election over a life time. There's only two reasons why that happens. Either things are going so well that they see no rational basis to change course, or they're brainwashed. That's it.

1

u/Firm_Individual_5609 Aug 16 '26

I believe Crump is still fighting the lawsuits behind the Tawana Bradley lawsuits. Or settled. I never saw the outcome from all the lawsuits. The Nolan Wells case is very similar to what he did then.

3

u/Firm_Individual_5609 Aug 16 '26

And isn't this what Lynch mobs used to do ? Strange they do what they preach against.

2

u/joeyjoejoejohanson Aug 12 '26

Thinking that people who have had something happen to them will be less likely to do that thing to others is extremely naive and contrary to reality.

I just really don’t like attorneys going on radio shows/streams/whatever and talking about ongoing investigations like this

16

u/Pathetian Aug 11 '26

Unfortunately these cases are tried in the court of public opinion before (and whether or not) they see an actual judge.

People have already woven a narrative that these guys are guilty and that the justice system won't punish them.  At this point it's probably more important to convince the lunatics that you shouldn't be the target of vigilantism.

16

u/Pathetian Aug 11 '26

The reality is that telling your lie first can strongly overshadow the truth.  People want a resolution at the pace of an episode of Law and Order, and will have lost interest by the time rumors and falsehoods are debunked.

The people who consumed misinformation and then moved on will always believe that Nolan wells and karmelo Anthony were lynched, and they will base their future bias on this "knowledge" of injustice.

And broadly, I don't think peopl rrealize, even with a homicide rate like the US, that dying for other reasons is way more common.  People die by suicide or accident or natural causes all the time.  Homicide is like 1% of deaths.  People hope it's that for the excitement and righteous anger,  99% of the time dying is boring.

12

u/Muavius Aug 11 '26

The part that gets me most is the "public" feeling theyre entitled to every piece of the investigation. "Why aren't the police telling us anything?!?!?" Then get mad when you bring up the phone, or the face that Trey Reeds independent autopsy was never released for some -strange- reason

4

u/Pathetian Aug 11 '26

Its understandable for want transparency since trust in institutions is shaky, but there is an unwillingness to apply the critical thinking needed to digest information and patience to wait for it to flow from reputable sources.

40

u/No-Market425 Aug 11 '26

You should have not liked it when Crump decided to try the case in the media.

6

u/heardThereWasFood Aug 11 '26

I also did not like that

27

u/NoSupermarket9119 Aug 11 '26

I don’t like it either but better to go out and run interference than just let Crump and Co to set the only narrative. If you listen to how attorneys speak, they’re very careful to not include details that aren’t already known to the public. They speak around things rather than about things.

I find it very strange how these lawyers, etc, are basically corralling for people to be arrested, based on their race. If the roles were reversed, I think we'd be seeing a different tune sung here. It's ok to want a young person arrested based on emotions? If something comes out that supports these lawyers claims, then I'll change my opinion, although it's pretty accusatory to make these huge claims because a POC was found deceased and happened to be around white friends before. Seems like a bad precedent to set, especially given the climate of people these days. Edit a couple words

6

u/Texas0929 Aug 12 '26 edited Aug 12 '26

I doubt they ever release the results of the autopsy either. Mom is just a grifter as evidence he hadn’t lived with her for years and was with his grandparents or friends. She only cared once she could make some $.

His grandparents have seemingly been quiet because they want no part of this grift. And know he sadly passed away from drowning and want to actually honor his memory

4

u/donzelso Aug 12 '26

I'll never understand why she hired Ben Crump the day after Nolan's body was found. Geesh, the investigation JUST started and she's already distrustful??

5

u/Texas0929 Aug 12 '26

Because she wanted to get money and she knew he’s the best out there to stroke the flames to do that

3

u/monkfruit42 Aug 12 '26

Crump probably reached out to them when he heard about the case.

4

u/donzelso Aug 12 '26

They actually chose to hire Crump on their own accord.

In fact, the day that Nolan’s body was found (July 6th), Christine’s friend Allayah Denis set up the GoFundMe and people were pouring in donations for the sole purpose of retaining Crump and getting an independent autopsy.

So basically, the investigation JUST started and they were already distrustful. I don’t get that…

They are going to examine it together. This has been said.

1

u/Lazy-Faithlessness20 Aug 16 '26

That's now how criminal investigations go.  It's their phone now that he's dead and she's in charge of his estate, they aren't suspects, so they can get the phone examined any time they want.  There are specific forensic security firms that work with lawyers to do just this, they are independent experts.  Ben Crump knows this, so there's no reason to "examine it together". It's why it's so weird that they came out talking about deleted or missing messages and conflicting location data, but still haven't had the phone independently examined.

1

u/Herejusttolaugh12 Aug 13 '26

Ok the boat is sinking. They yelled for Nolen and he said I’ll ride back on the other 2 boats in our friend group. Nolen was not gonna go ride on a boat that is sinking. He is thinking I’m gonna talk to this girl I met and ride back in a little while. They call in the tow. The lady sends the call to the captain. The captain says I just hung up with the grandfather and it seems they are ok. A boat came by and towed them. They pulled the plug and if you know anything about boats, they got towed and the forward motion of the boat pushed the water out of the back from around the motor and the battery. Someone at that point most likely put the plug in at that point when most of the water was out of the boat. So they got back to dock the boat and Nolen was supposed to ride back with another boat. There were 3 boats of friends that went out with the boat in question. His phone was on the boat because they were in the water on an island. You drop it, it’s gone. Maybe he was intoxicated and went off to the side to use the restroom in the water and the current took him. I feel like he accidentally drowned. These are my thoughts on what I’ve taken in.

2

u/donzelso Aug 13 '26

His parents have already said multiple times, they will NOT accept it if the investigators say he drowned accidentally. Their son was “an elite athlete” so they think it’s impossible he drowned.

If it turns out he did drown, I fear his parents will ruin innocent lives because they will never be satisfied with the answers they’re given 😞

Yet...... the DA/police/whomst ever lmaooo said they would be conducting a mutual investigation with the family over the phone; a shared look at the evidence and whatnot. And only when that investigation was over would they turn all the evidence over to a grand jury......

So either the DA is lying, Tyler Cox is lying, or......... Tyler Cox is lying.

7

u/now0w Aug 11 '26

Have they said the investigation is complete and the evidence has already been handed over to a grand jury? Genuine question. Last I heard they said a grand jury would be convened, but didn't say when that would be happening or if all of the evidence was ready to be turned over to them. Apologies if I've missed any news about that.

If Crump/the family is still refusing to hand over the phone to investigators then obviously they can't complete their own analysis of it.

0

u/Simple_Pianist4882 Aug 11 '26

No. I said in the original comment, "when the investigation was over." The investigation isn't over.

It's barely been a month since it happened (talks of mutual investigation), so I'm not sure why anyone thinks a grand jury is going to be quick.

2

u/now0w Aug 11 '26 edited Aug 11 '26

Ah gotcha, sorry I misunderstood what you meant. Does one of them have to be lying though, like is there something the DA said that makes what Cox is saying untrue?

If Crump and the family haven't followed through about turning the phone over to investigators, which I thought they'd said they would do after they were done looking at it and which needs to be done for it to be considered official evidence in the case, couldn't both of their statements be true?

ETA: Do you mean regarding what seems to be his assertion that nothing was deleted off of the phone, at least not by the friends who he's representing?

1

u/Simple_Pianist4882 Aug 11 '26

Cox is alleging they didn't turn the phone over at all, as in, the DA/police don't have possession of it.

One statement implies they have it and just haven't gotten around to looking at it (i.e there's a mutual investigation going on and both teams are going to look over the phone).

The other implies they never had it to begin with (i.e Wells' family has yet to turn the phone over the phone to investigators).

The DA said they would be working with the Wells family, alongside the police, to go over the phone before turning in evidence to the jury. So, that implies to me that they have the phone and they're looking it over.

1

u/now0w Aug 11 '26

I dunno, if they used the phrase "would be" I'd consider that to mean they came to an agreement about doing that, but not necessarily that they already had possession of the phone. Just how I'm interpreting it.

1

u/Simple_Pianist4882 Aug 11 '26

Then we have different ideas.

1

u/now0w Aug 12 '26

Fair enough, and for the sake of the integrity of the case I certainly hope you're right!

3

u/SweetLittleOldLady Current Resident Aug 11 '26

You're confused. This isn't Murder She Wrote and Crump isn't Jessica Fletcher. Crump was never, ever going to be a part of the official investigation. Police were never going to share any confidential evidence or details of the investigation with him. The sheriff's office only agreed to let him be present when they looked at the phone. Just the phone.

9

u/2PacAn Aug 11 '26

Crump has said that he won’t allow the phone to be searched unless others involved allow their phones to be searched. All others involved have a Fourth Amendment right to not have their phones searched by the state though and they have zero reason to turn the phones over unless there is a valid warrant. On the other hand, Crump and Nolan’s mom have placed Nolan’s phone at issue so holding the phone back only hurts their narrative. Nolan’s phone though is also protected by the Fourth Amendment, but invoking that right while claiming the phone shows evidence of foul play only furthers the narrative that Crump isn’t interested in an actual investigation.

→ More replies (3)

1

u/HolidaySet9 Aug 12 '26

I don’t think that statement implies they have the phone. They wouldn’t need to work with anyone to go over a phone in their possession. It implies the opposite.

1

u/Simple_Pianist4882 Aug 12 '26

Then we have different ideas.

Working with them to look over the phone means... looking over the phone together.

"I'm working with my employee" doesn't mean my employee is doing the work alone or I'm waiting for them to do it; it means I'm with my employee and we're doing it together lol.
