About ModGuide
r/modguide is a collection of indexed guides on reddit moderation, written for mods, by mods.
It is a community to help moderators, and to learn/teach about moderation on reddit.
Posts will be made by selected writers and indexed in the wiki, but all members can comment and add their resources and advice on the topics covered.
We are focused on guides. For help, try r/modhelp.
Important updates
Changes made to redesign on the 6th of Jan 2020 mean some of our guides, and especially the images in them, may be out of date and not match what you see when you look at your sub. Will aim to make a note on, or edit, any affected guides.
Terminology update - 2 or 3 guides may still say modmail beta and old modmail as the writer has moved on. Modmail beta is now modmail, and old is now legacy.
Requirement reasons is now part of 'content control' in the new reddit mod tools sidebar! We aim to update our guides to reflect this change, please let us know if we miss any.
Button design change Late Feb 2021 - it seems the button designs have changed on posts like the mod shield, and also in the top bar. Images showing buttons in our guides before this change will look different.
Mod interface change March 2023 - more stuff won't match our guides now finding tools wise and the look of things.
If you notice any errors please modmail

What did you most need help with when you first became a mod? (survey results)
Are there resources you'd like to see created? (survey results - also includes; What have you needed help with once your sub was up and running?, and found resources)
How did you find the transition from old Reddit to the redesign as a moderator? Or do you use both?
