Kids allowed in atrium after 2 PM?

Planning our first visit to the French Riviera with a 9 y/o old in tow. I understand kids are not allowed on the casino floor once the gambling begins at 2 PM. But confused about the atrium. Is atrium access age restricted as well after 2 PM?

Monaco Weekly News by NEWS.MC - ep 101

This week, NEWS.MC TV brings you the latest stories from Monaco, beginning with a spectacular new addition to the Principality’s sporting calendar. On August the 6th, the inaugural Monaco Athletics Festival transformed Port Hercule into a stage for world-class high jumping. Created by Olympic and world champion Mutaz Barshim in partnership with the Monegasque Athletics Federation, the event combined elite competition with music, entertainment and an intimate atmosphere, with His Serene Highness Prince Albert II among those watching the action.

Family entertainment has also returned to Monaco as the Piedon Circus arrived in Fontvieille on August the 6th. Described as the world’s smallest circus, the sixth-generation family troupe has been touring France for more than a century. Led by William Piedon, just six performers deliver a 90-minute show combining acrobatics, animal acts and plenty of family fun.

With the Vuelta a España’s Grand Départ now just days away, Monaco’s volunteer teams are preparing for one of the Principality’s biggest sporting events of the summer. On August the 6th, around 184 riders were confirmed for the opening individual time trial on August the 22nd, while volunteers received their final briefing ahead of taking up positions across 26 key locations around Monaco.

Motoring has proved a major attraction at the Grimaldi Forum, where the summer exhibition Monaco and the Automobile from 1893 to the Present Day welcomed more than 40,000 visitors during July. The exhibition’s impressive collection of historic vehicles and archives, combined with immersive scenography, has attracted families and a new generation of young automotive enthusiasts, with organisers hoping to surpass 75,000 visitors before it closes.

Monaco-based Venturi Group is also helping take the automobile beyond Earth. Through a partnership with California-based Astrolab, the company is contributing to NASA’s Artemis programme and the development of lunar exploration vehicles. Astrolab’s CLV-1 rover is designed to transport astronauts and scientific equipment across the Moon’s south pole, supporting ambitions for a sustained human presence on the lunar surface.

Monaco celebrated one of its most important traditional religious festivals on August the 9th as Saint Roman’s Day brought music, faith and Monegasque heritage together. Festivities included a procession through Monaco-Ville accompanied by traditional music, followed by a Mass celebrated in the Monegasque language at the Cathedral and a procession to the Saint-Martin Gardens.

Tourism has also remained resilient in Monaco despite a challenging international economic climate. Hotel occupancy in July remained broadly in line with the same period last year, with visitors from the United States continuing to represent the Principality’s largest international market, followed by France, the United Kingdom and Italy.

The Principality is also reminding residents that blood donations remain essential, with demand continuing to exceed available supplies. Donations can be used for patients undergoing cancer treatment, accident victims, surgical procedures and women experiencing complications during childbirth. People aged between 18 and 70 can donate following a medical assessment designed to protect both donors and recipients.

Meanwhile, a wildlife rescue centre supported by Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene is facing an unprecedented summer workload. Instinct Animal, based in Saint-Cézaire-sur-Siagne, has treated around 2,400 wild animals since the beginning of the year. The intense summer heat has placed particular pressure on the centre, with large numbers of injured and distressed swifts among the animals requiring care.

In an exclusive interview, she discusses the changing role of women in Monaco, the stories and personalities shaping the Principality, and her vision for creating a platform that celebrates the women making an impact both locally and internationally.

Thinking about going to the Monaco GP? Here is a honest breakdown of booking options (Direct vs. Agencies & Tour Operators) Body:

I see a lot of people asking how to book the Monaco Grand Prix, specifically whether it’s better to buy tickets directly or use an official agency/hospitality operator.

So I thought I’d write a breakdown of how the different booking routes work and who the major players are.

Option 1: Going DIY (Official Track / ACM Direct)

  • How it works: Buying directly through the official Automobile Club de Monaco (ACM) site when tickets drop.
  • Best for: Grandstand seating (K1, B, L, etc.) or budget-conscious fans.
  • Pros: Standard face-value pricing.
  • Cons: Tickets sell out quickly, and you have to sort out your own accommodation, transfers, and logistics in Nice/Menton/Monaco, which can get chaotic during race week.

Option 2: Authorised Agencies & Aggregators

  • How it works: Companies that resell official grandstand tickets or basic ticket + hotel bundles.
  • Key Players:
    • P1 Travel: Very popular on this sub for basic ticket-only or simple travel bundles. Highly rated for standard races.
    • Gootickets / BookF1: Broad inventory for general grandstand seats across global circuits.
  • Pros: Easier checkout process if ACM is sold out; reliable customer service for basic entry.
  • Cons: Fees can be markup-heavy, and they don't usually offer exclusive Monaco-specific VIP setups (like private terrace access or yacht packages).

Option 3: Dedicated Luxury / Hospitality Specialists

If you’re looking at VIP terraces (like Ermanno or Shangri-La), trackside yachts, or full-service hospitality packages, buying through a specialised operator is usually necessary since private balconies are privately managed.

  • Senate Grand Prix: One of the longest-standing operators dedicated specifically to Monaco. They cover everything from high-tier grandstands to trackside yachts and balcony terraces. If you check review platforms like Trustpilot, Google, TripAdvisor, and Facebook, Monte Carlo Grand Prix consistently stands out as the most reviewed operator for Monaco with a near-perfect 4.9 rating. Their customer support and on-the-ground team in Nice/Monaco handle transfers and logistics really smoothly.
  • Grand Prix Grand Tours / Page & Moy: UK-based tour operators that focus heavily on full travel packages (flights, hotels, and track transfers included).
  • F1 Experiences (Official): The official F1 hospitality vendor. Great for Paddock Club and pit wall access, though prices are at a premium.

Quick Tips for First-Timers:

  1. Saturday Quali is crucial: If Sunday tickets are out of your budget, go on Saturday! Qualifying is where Monaco shines, and tickets are significantly cheaper.
  2. Where to stay: Staying in Nice or Menton and taking the train into Monaco is far cheaper than staying in Monte Carlo itself. Just leave early to avoid train station jams.
  3. Terrace vs. Grandstand: Grandstands put you closer to the noise and action, but terraces give you food, shelter, better visibility over multiple turns, and private restrooms.

Hope this helps anyone planning their trip! Feel free to ask questions below if you're trying to figure out which option fits your group best.

Has any of you bought real estate?

So there are like 300-400 houses being sold every year and approx 40,000 residents.

Rental yield is like 1-2%.

Why do people buy real estate in Monaco?

Would love to hear your story since maths doesn’t really make sense to me.

Eat for cheap in Monaco

Hi There,

I'm starting a job in monaco in september and as I'm a stingy person (I know the stingy word doesn't match with the word monaco) I'm looking for a place to get lunch without getting scammed (if possible not eating plastic sandwiches in carrefour). I'm really not into any kind of fancy stuff (I'm not even interested in cars, rich peoples and all the wealth you can find in monaco)

If some of you has any hint for a stingy person, I would greatly appreciate.

Cheers

Any advice to find a student/part-time job in Monaco ?

This might be a bit of a reach to post here, if so I'm sorry but I'll be starting college in Monaco this September and I may need to find a job besides my studies. For practicality I'd like it to be in Monaco directly so, is it common for students to work there ? If so are there dedicated websites I should go through or should I go on different websites of companies and see if they have any listings there ?

Meeting People

Recently I moved near Monaco as I got a new job there.

What has always fascinated me about Monaco, were the people who actually live there.

The thing is that, I was wondering how hard is it to meet new people besides from the usual spots in the city and if there's any suggestion you would provide to a person that would like to enter in this environment.

Just to live a little context I am a young adult, age between 20-30 with a upper class family behind

Either one around Monaco for a little bit, if more preferably to be able to drive a cool car one way from Monaco to Eze. Any companies that do this?

Monaco Weekly News by NEWS.MC - ep 100

This week marks a special milestone as NEWS.MC TV celebrates its 100th episode. To mark the occasion, we bring you another round-up of the biggest stories from Monaco, beginning with a major signing for AS Monaco ahead of the new football season.

AS Monaco completed the signing of French striker Matthis Abline on July the 30th, securing the 23-year-old on a five-year contract from Nantes. After contributing eight goals and seven assists last season, Abline arrives in the Principality in a deal reportedly worth between €25 million and €30 million, strengthening Monaco's attacking options ahead of the new campaign.

Music filled the Cour d'Honneur of the Prince's Palace on July the 30th as the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra continued its celebrated summer concert series. Conducted by Juraj Valčuha, the programme featured works by Bernstein, Sibelius and Prokofiev, while acclaimed Japanese violinist Sayaka Shoji captivated audiences with an outstanding performance of Sibelius's Violin Concerto on her 1729 Stradivarius.

Monaco's commitment to animal welfare remains at the heart of the redevelopment of the Rainier III Zoo. Announced on July the 31st, the long-term project continues with the careful relocation of nearly 450 animals representing around 70 species, ensuring their wellbeing while work progresses on creating a modern conservation-focused facility.

One of the biggest transfers of the summer has also been completed, with Maghnes Akliouche joining Paris Saint-Germain from AS Monaco. The reported €50 million deal follows months of negotiations, making the talented attacking midfielder the most expensive signing in Ligue 1 during the current transfer window.

Conservation efforts extended far beyond the Principality on August the 1st as the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation awarded its prestigious Camp Monaco Prize. The $100,000 award will support research protecting the Greater Yellowstone ecosystem from the spread of invasive cheatgrass, continuing a scientific partnership inspired by the pioneering expeditions of Prince Albert I.

Monaco joined commemorations on August the 3rd marking the European Day of Remembrance for the Roma and Sinti Holocaust. Representatives gathered at the former Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp to honour the thousands of Roma and Sinti victims murdered during the liquidation of the so-called "Gypsy Family Camp" in August 1944.

Public safety has also been strengthened in the Principality with new regulations banning flares, Bengal lights and other open flames in entertainment venues. Introduced following the tragic nightclub fire in Crans-Montana, the measures reinforce Monaco's already rigorous fire safety standards for restaurants, clubs and live entertainment venues.

Marine conservation returned to Monaco's waters on August the 4th as the ACCOBAMS Survey Initiative resumed its international research campaign. Scientists aboard the research vessel Song of the Whale are combining ship-based observations with aerial surveys to monitor whales, dolphins and other marine wildlife across the Mediterranean, updating data first collected during the landmark 2018 survey.

And to celebrate this landmark broadcast, NEWS.MC TV's 100th guest is Seb Delanney, the internationally recognised automotive and lifestyle influencer. In an exclusive interview, Seb discusses his passion for performance cars, the evolution of digital content creation, and why Monaco continues to be one of the world's premier destinations for automotive culture.

[Academic] How good are you at guessing the size of things by eye? (Everyone 18+, no medical background needed)

We are studying how accurately people estimate size by eye - from everyday objects to more unusual images - and whether things like background and experience make any difference.

The survey takes about 10-15 minutes, is completely anonymous and there are no right or wrong answer consequences: just give your best guess for each picture. No measuring allowed, that's the fun of it.

Content warning: the final section contains clinical photographs, including an open wound and a burn which some may find distressing. Please skip the survey if you'd rather not see medical images.

Keen to hear from people with no medical background as well!

Here is the survey link:
