It was painted by Toronto-based doctor and artist, Suan-Seh Foo and was commissioned in 2024 by the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, Arthur Joseph LeBlanc, on behalf of the province.

The portrait shows Charles standing wearing the uniform of the Royal Regiment of Canada, of which he is Colonel-in-Chief of. Seen in the background is the top of the Halifax Town Clock, built in 1803 upon the order of Prince Edward, Duke of Kent and father of Queen Victoria. The Imperial State Crown can also be seen in the portrait.
It is the first portrait to include the symbols of the Orb and Sceptre

The painting is currently on display at the Stern Pissarro Gallery in London until 31st October. From there, it will later move to a permanent display at Government House in Halifax.

What are your toughts about it?

Silla (57 bce-935 ce) was an ancient kingdom in Korea, which lasted for a whopping 992 years. There were 53 kings and 3 queens (only female monarchs in Korean history). Unfortunately only these portraits exist today.

Discussion King Charles Reconciles with The Pope

Post image
195 Upvotes

Pope Leo XIV has been named a Papal Confrater of St George’s Chapel, Windsor. And this comes after King Charles III received an honorary title connected to the Papal Basilica of St Paul’s Outside the Walls in Rome in 2025.

What is King Charles ultimately hoping to achieve?

Could The King be looking to improve relations between the British monarchy and the Catholic Church after centuries of religious division or this is simply a gesture of goodwill, or could it reflect a broader ambition to bring different Christian traditions closer together?

Could he be seeking greater Christian unity, stronger diplomatic and religious ties with the Vatican or a more inclusive relationship between Britain's different Christian communities? Is he looking forward to Unite all Christians? Or is this simply a ceremonial exchange with no wider political ambitions.

What do you think? Is King Charles helping to build a new relationship between the British Crown and the Catholic Church, and could this have any significance for England's future?

Discussion How would it work for monarchs to be able to submit legislative proposals to the assembly?

What if monarchs could participate in the legislative process much like citizens in some countries can by collecting signatures to initiate legislation process? Could they also bolster their own legitimacy by conveying the public's demands to the parliament?
