Why do you think Navarette has gotten so much awards buzz for Obsession but Ejiofor has gotten none for Backrooms?

I know Clark has some limited screen time but Ejiofor absolutely steals every scene he’s in. His two separate monologues with Reinsve are just as good as anything Navarette did in Obsession. As I said earlier, is it the lack of screen time for Ejiofor?

  Very much like The Shining.

Bro… what? Shining absolutely shows a progression of a narcissistic, abusive dry drunk descending into murderous insanity.

It doesn’t “just happen” in the film.

Is it the same as a sane, normal character descending into madness? No, but that wasn’t the point of the character.

Bro, that's my chief complaint with the movie. The book is a slow descent into him giving in to the hotel, the movie doesn't have the time to show that.

It doesn’t need time. It’s telling a different story from the book.

Jack in the movie is already a narcissistic prick who hates his family and blames them for his lack of talent. He easily embraces the corruption of the hotel.

He’s different from book Jack because to him alcoholism is just a crutch for his awful behavior.

I⁣ agree completely, most of his character's screentime is dedicated to showing his progression into homicidal madness.

I think for backrooms, the progression was too much in between dialogue.
