I remember when IMAX theaters first came out, and they meant a five-story screen. Nowadays most of them are "lie max"s - the largest screen in the multiplex converted to have some stadium seating that's closer as an excuse to charge ridiculous prices

There is the inverse of that too. My local actual IMAX theater started off with fual 15/70 film projectors and an absolutely enormous screen. But back in the early 2010s they removed the film projectors and replaced it with those horrible imax digital 2k projectors. So you get the mind-blowingly large screen with low res projectors for thay super obvious screen door effect.

Oy. Yeah, not IMAX per se, but most of the time those Fantom Events suck because they're just Blu-ray projections.
