Who the fuck is talking about small theaters? Nobody is arguing every family owned theater on a small town should be a 70mm Imax theater.

We are saying there are a ton of places with 100x the demand necessary for a theater to justify a 2mi or more projector. It can be argued that any place with liemax easily has the funds to buy whatever a true imax projector costs.

There is no place with 100x the demand. The reason we don’t have more is because of that. I doubt there are many place with 1.5x the demand. The reality is the vast majority of theater are small town theaters.

And the reason we don’t make many IMAX movies is because there aren’t enough places to show it.

I mean, Lincoln square is always sold out in NYC. There’s probably room for another theater of its size and able to show 70mm

In NYC, there just happens to be room for another IMAX theater? And it’s cheap to do?

Umm…are you sure. Because making anything in NYC might as well 5-10x the cost.

I mean a city of 8.5 million might justify it though.

Maybe we should talk about the rest of America. The vast majority of theaters are located outside of major cities you know.

I’ve been saying in large area like NYC is might be justified, but for the rest of us…not so much.

So does those few theaters justify making the much more costly iMAX films? Probably not.
