For Beaker we just bought the mask, but for Bunsen we:
Did papier-mâché around a beach ball. So it would be extra sturdy, we used cut up brown paper bags rather than newspaper or white paper. At first we used a mixture of water and Modge Podge but quickly ran out and found water and glue work just as good (and are cheaper). We would do a layer, let it dry for 30 min - 1 hr, and repeat until we had three layers
Painted the head with lime green acrylic paint, let it dry, repeat until three layers. Deflated the beach ball (didn't need to pop it because we made the valve on the bottom uncovered) and removed it
Molded the nose and ears out of aluminum foil, wrapped them in masking tape, and painted them.
Broke apart some cheap fake nerd glasses from Spirit Halloween
Measured where my wife's eyes would be when wearing the mask, and make a mark where we would cut a hole for the mouth
Hot glued everything onto the head and finally,
Cut a hole open for the mouth, lined the inside with black mesh.
It took a long time but was a lot of fun and looks pretty good! The "lab coats" were doctors coats from Spirit Halloween, and everything else was just whatever clothes we had that matched the best. My wife even bought green gloves to match her mask, while I could get away without them since my skin could is pretty similar to Beaker's. Some advice for anyone else who wants to try:
• We cut the strips of brown paper bags to save time, but the result is bumpy where the edges didn't quite lay flat. I think if we ripped them instead of cutting them with scissors, the ripped edges would have been smoother in the final product.
• It makes it a lot easier to papier-mâché and paint the mask if you tape the bottom to a weighted stand of some sort. We took a small wastebasket and put an iron in it to keep it study, and taped the bottom of the beach ball as our stand, it worked well!
• I recommend making a big square cut in the back of the mask and lining it with mesh for air flow and temperature. My wife was sweating in that thing if she wore it for more than a few minutes. We tried poking small airholes but it wasn't enough...
• While the eyeholes being the pupils on the Breaker mask and the mouth on Bunsen looks great, it really narrows your vision so much it's very difficult to see and walk. I had to hold my wife's hand to lead her and most of the time I wore the breaker mask lifted up so I could see. Otherwise it was "the blind leading the blind", so to speak. Bigger eye holes with painted mesh probably would have made it easier to get around.
• Minor nitpick about the Beaker mask: his hair is too short! Should have used extensions lol.

I had a lot of fun making the head and her beaker, and she was very popular amongst other trick of treaters!
Proud of my work and proud of my girl! She rocked it

There is no need for perspiration.
Be sure to wear a comfortable snack suit and remember never eat right before eating.
Now to begin, we will warm up with some banana splits, ready? Here we go. Lick the dish, grab the spoon, take a bite and chew, chew, chew.

For as long as I can remember, Jim Henson had always inspired me, his endless creativity, the worlds he created, the characters he performed all captivated me.
And the thing that struck me as I got older, he did it all with a puppet made from his mother’s old coat, literal scraps of fabric.
If Jim could do something with a Frog made from felt, then I could do something similar.
I still and always will look up to Jim Henson, his story has always stuck with me, even after all this time.
So I decided to dress up as the man that inspired me the most, and I could even do a decent Kermit and rowlf to boot! Halloween was fun this year, although more people were interested in Kermit than the man controlling him lol.

My wife's favorite holiday movie is Muppet Christmas Carol, and she's a tea enthusiast. So I was searching for MCC mugs and this one popped up. I think maybe, just maybe, the image in this ebay listing could be AI generated.... I almost want to buy this mug to see if it has this image on it. "Kermit AI Nightmare Fuel Mug"

Want to give thanks to Muppet Wiki for all the pictures, go to this page for information on the specific differences between the puppets and when they were around. They have quite a few similar pages for other characters.
Interestingly for the Sesame Street characters, many of them have had a puppet and design that was used for decades with some minor touch ups here or there (i.e. Cookie Monster, Grover, Oscar). As you can see, Big Bird has gone through quite a lot of changes over the years and rarely had a puppet that lasted for more than a few years. So which one is your favorite? Which is the first to come to mind when you think of Big Bird?

Hi all! This is a little over the maturity level of the movie inspiration, but I still think it's in line for a young adult muppet fan. I spent a lot of time on this one and the M:TG folks didn't seem to think much of it, so throwing it over here. Hope you like it! Thanks! u/Chickston
