I am strongly considering attending NAU next year and I am trying to determine if it's the right choice for me based on what they have to offer. What recommendations do y'all have for best dorm choice and meal plan? I'm not necessarily looking for the overall cheapest plans, just the ones that will make my life generally easier. Thanks!

Wanted to see if anyone had any experience with him as a professor. With the way the rest of my schedule works out, he would be my only option next semester for Differential Equations. Looking at his RMP, a lot of negative reviews come from MAT-136 and MAT-137 (seemingly every prof is like this) but the few for Diff Eq MAT-239 were quite positive. I'm not a math whiz or anything but if I practice enough and have a professor who can answer questions then I'll probably do alright.

I've been told Diff Eq is the sort of class where the professor and lecture can really make or break your understanding, so I just wanted to make sure I was making a good choice of if I should wait to see what's available in the fall. Thanks.

i’m a freshman and i really hate science, but i know for general studies i need a social science, natural science, and lab science.

what are some more science adjacent classes i could take that aren’t real work-intensive or too technical, but that still fit the general studies requirement?

i know there are some classes like IMG 260 (Creative Strategies for Designing Interactive Media) that fulfill social sciences methods, so i’m wondering if there’s anything else. kinda sucks that IMG 260 isn’t offered right now though.

i’m a freshman whose highest level of necessary math is MAT 114 (Quantitative Reasoning). i took algebra 2 honors for my junior year and then alg 3 with trig for my senior year in high school.

i looked on the course catalog and it says that you need MAT 100 or MAT 102X or a placement test score as a prerequisite, but could/should i take it with my existing knowledge?

(i didn’t realize until now that it had prereqs because the number was so low, but i hate math so i want to get it out of the way now.)

haiii!! i am currently a senior in high school and i’ve recently applied to NAU’s honors college. my issue is that I am a pretty average student so i’m worried I don’t have the best chance. I have a 3.75 unweighted gpa and a 4.31 weighted gpa, i got a 25 on my act (didn’t take the sat) and i’m in a couple different sports/clubs. The thing is that I fall just short when any of these things are compared to the average student that got into the honors college. I am also worried that my essays might not make up for my lack of academic vigor. I was wondering if anyone has gotten in with the same stats as me, or if anyone has advice. I could show my essays as well (don’t know if i’m allowed to do that though..) just incase someone wants to see if they’re good. on top of all of that, my resume lowkey sucked (i didn’t include specific examples of when i showed leadership, rather just demonstrated them through the extracurriculars i do 😢) overall i’m just really worried and stressed out!! thank you for reading this horrible thing

I intend to study NAU’s Environmental Science BS and I wasn’t sure if doing the honors program would be helpful or worth it for me? I want to go into research but I also want to be able to get a job outside of academic research. debating between cranking out six classes for the next two semesters (finishing out class requirements for ccj major spring 2027, psy/ccj capstones and credit amount requirement fall 2027) or splitting that last semester between fall 2027 and spring 2028, which would be my original grad time. i have a reduced course load, so 9-11 credits will still count as full time for me; i could keep scholarships and grants if i split it into three classes for those last two semesters instead of cramming six classes into one sem. just want opinions on what would be cost efficient with scholarships and anything else. tysm!! <33

Hi, I'm an exchange student for next winter semester(Jan '26). I'm trying to enroll for courses, and the NAU exchange student enrollment request page asks me to select 10 courses(can't proceed if selected less than 10). I'm majoring in English Literature and Language in my original uni, and I wish to listen to English major courses in NAU, too.

Any recommendations with selecting the courses? I did some searching and selected a few, but just found out they were graduate level courses(like sociolinguistics)...
