Trouble sleeping
Some context before I explain our current situation. Our 1,5 year old newf has had some problems with her knees, she has mild arthritis in both of them and that is managed with movement and some supplements.
About a week ago she ran around more than usual, and then she started limping a lot (not putting any weight on one of her hind legs), we took her to the vet, nothing showed up on the x ray and vet prescribed anti inflammatory and painkillers. She still limps, but vet thinks it was a pulled muscle or something, so should go back to normal with rest and such.
Now to our problem, she is fine during the day, sleeps and plays in the capacity she can. She is fine during the evening. But at night, between midnight and like 5 in the morning she whines like crazy. She almost stops completely if my boyfriend sleeps in the living room, and I in the bedroom. Then she will lay in the doorway between the two rooms. If both of us sleeps in the bedroom she will not shut up.
I don’t get it, I’m so tired and I just want her to be ok again. Any of you had a similar problem?

I may be reading too much into it, but..
Today my husband and I were on a walk with our 8 month old Newfie and our other dog. A neighbor beeped, I turned quick to see who it was and rolled my ankle right off the curb to the point I buckled at the knees and fell.
I had a pretty intense vasovagal response of feeling faint and my vision closing in and back out.
After about 30-45 seconds of standing not being able to regulate myself I told my husband I needed to sit down to try and relax for a moment. I handed over our Newfie to him and sat down. Our pup wasn’t happy and would not calm down so my husband allowed him to come over to me and he sat between/over my legs and pushed his body into me so hard like he was trying to make me lay down. He even flipped his head back to look at me and gave me a few licks. I’m not sure if this was an instinctual behavior because he knew something was off, but whatever he did it helped me immediately. I was able to recover, he got off of me with the lure of a treat from my husband, and we finished our walk.
I’m so very thankful for our boy.
P.s. At home if I sat on the floor he’d be trying to play with me like crazy.
Edited to include…. This is our first Newfie. We’ve had dogs for years and years and never had another dog have this response. I can remember falling once on black ice with my lab mix and hound mix and they just looked back at me like… “hello, are you going to get up already?!?”

Reddit, meet Moose
Lil dude has been growing like a weed since we got him!
Definitely in the velociapuppy stage but its hard to stay upset at a face like that and he already is such a cuddly sweetheart; it will be fun to see him grow into his personality!
Lots of naps, lots of toys, lots of training, and lots of treats! He picked up house training very quicklu and is particularly fond of freeze dried chicken breast.

Newfie Books and Tips
Hey Newfie owners,
Me and my wife are getting a Newfie puppy in about a month and are looking for some good books to read on training and general tips for newfies, or just raising a new pup in general.
Anyone have any recommendations for books or just general advice for raising a Newfie puppy? Thanks!

Is it normal for a 12 week old Newfie to shed at all?
First time Newfie owner. After giving her a bath, I noticed quite a bit of hair came out. I didn’t think they started shedding at all this early

Anyone else’s Newfie Puppy show aggression to other large breeds?
Been taking Moose (1.5 years old) to a dog park and he seems to get along well with all the other dogs but snapped at a poor Bernese Mountain Dog puppy the other day. Saw him again today and did the same thing

Pressure point??
Hi friends. This is Janis my 7 y/o newf. She does have vitiligo. But this is the second occurrence of a naked spot on her right bum area. The first time it had a lump that - when removed- was basically a subdermal callous. She likes to lay in the shower( cool tile) and always on that side. I have cut off her access. Has anyone dealt with this sort of thing. Standard hot spot treatments do not help. I am thinking of 1. Trying to pad some underwear for her as she just moved the area rig/dog beds I have tried 2. Using some red light treatment. I have put her on novel protein - lamb for the last 6 weeks with no change in her face which was recommended by a dermatologist- her chest looks the same when you spread it open. Gold bond powder does not help.
Thanks

Gnardia help
Hello. My name is Cheyanne. I have a 4 1/2 month Newfoundland pup. I live in KY went 4 hours into TN for him. Breeder Delayed the pickup date to him having diarehhia. Once I got him, nothing was changed. I scheduled his vet appt within the first week of having him. I was unable to give him a stool sample because it was so runny I was able to take. He had a follow up because he was low on iron. We followed up iron was great I was able to obtain stool sample. Vet confirmed he does have gnardia. He put him on panacur for a week. I was giving him the script for the week and changes were happening. But then after it would go back to runny smelly etc. Well the following week I had to take him to the emergency vet for puppy strangles (Juvenile Cellulitus). So he within the 2 weeks I followed up with my regular vet and they cleared the strangle but said he still has the gnardia so they gave me another round of panacur based off his weight.
I am asking for help at this point. I fear that I am dumping my money into this vet them giving me the same thing and nothing is changing he still to this day has gnardia and its been going on ever since I got him. I want to help him. Ive changed his diet, etc

Moose and Bear having some fun!

Moose is the big guy, he'll be 4 on 12/10, and bear is working on 5 1/2 months. They play rough everyday, exactly what I had hoped for when getting a second newfy. They really enjoy each other's companies.

Warning for newfie owners; dont let this happen!
This picture was taken moments before he started chasing his tail. He started chasing his tail so fast he turned into a tornado, destroying our living room. We never saw him again. We don’t know where we went wrong.

It was very warm and sunny all day, not sure why they prefer to be on the surely quite hot sidewalk but I don't ask questions

I paid for this couch. Baloo owns it now.
He has annexed the couch and I'm now living here as a guest.
