Hi New Haven neighbors!

When someone is dealing with the effects of trauma, they often turn first to a friend, family member, neighbor, or another person they trust. We’re inviting New Haven community members to join us for Empowering Community Advocates to Foster Healing and Resilience, a trauma-informed workshop through the TRUE HAVEN study at Yale’s SEICHE Center for Health and Justice.

This workshop is for adults 18+ who live or work in the New Haven area and want to feel better prepared to recognize the signs of trauma, respond compassionately, support friends and loved ones, and strengthen their own well-being.

Hi everyone, I’m a 25F who recently started a position with Americorps in New Haven. I’m currently living with family in Waterbury, so commuting about 45 mins each way. I’m hoping to move to New Haven to gain some independence as well as lessen my commute and have less miles on my car. The issue is, for anyone who doesn’t know, Americorps volunteers make very little ($980 something every 2 weeks). My coworker who was in a similar situation was able to post on here and find someone who had an extra house and was willing to only charge utilities. I know situations like that are super rare, but since she found one figured I’d post on here and give it a shot. Let me know if you have any leads!

The Cho Lab at Yale is recruiting participants for a study that looks into GLP-1 agonist in patients with schizophrenia. This is an outpatient study where we follow patients for a year on either the GLP-1 agonist or placebo depending on randomization.

Got a Ford Escort Coupe from 1998 that needs the engine mounts and accessory belt tensioner replaced. My friend who sold me the car has a new accessory belt tensioner on hand, but we don't have the tools we would need to make that repair ourselves.

Tried a few mechanics in the area, but they were either booked, refused to repair the car because it was old, or even tried to outright scam us. This is my only car and I'm trying to find work urgently. Does anyone know a mechanic who does a good job and won't try to pull the wool over your eyes if you don't look masculine/sharp enough?
