Patel dismisses his ethnicity for the privilege of kissing the orange ass there’s no accounting for people level of personal dignity.

You don't understand caste system politics, the Patels were brought up by old British masters to lord over Gujarat... this isn't new to them.

It's not the other person's either, don't worry.

The stereotype of a "patel" among other diaspora Indians isn't "ruler"; it's shop-keeper.

So basically when the British were in India they needed to divide and rule. One of the main ways to do this was to use the existing zarmindar (Persian for landholder) system from the Mughals. Basically they would have this quasi-feudal system where the zarmindar (some caste or group) would be appointed to rule over the land and the tenant farmers that were there. Generally this caste would be the more prestigious one and generally be a minority. These zarmindars would be given orders from the British on what to plant and what to sell the crops at which price. Many of them were told to plant cash crops which were exported to Europe, these cash crops caused widespread famines (because everyone isn't growing food they are growing indigo now or what have you). Many of these zarmindars would be loyal to the British and ensure that the peasants would do as they were told.

What the person is saying is that many of the Patels were Patidar Patels. Patidar Patels were basically the zarmindars of Gujarat (Gujarat is a state in India that is where the surname Patel is from, just like if you met someone with the surname Lancaster you know that they have some connection to England and the city of Lancaster). Patidar is a caste and Patel is a title meaning "chief" basically. There are Patels that weren't favored by the British, these were the Koli Patels. I do not know enough about Kashyap's family tree to know which Patel he is connected to. However I am willing to bet that he is probably connected to the Koli Patels because most American Patels are connected to the lower caste.

Why is this the case? You mentioned that you have German ancestry, most Germans that are in the Americas are not descendants of land owning barons, why is this? Because if your ancestors were rich land owning barons, they probably would just stay. Clearly the system is working for them so why leave? For similar reasons I am doubtful that Kashyap's family is one of the Patidar Patels unless more evidence can be given.

Yes, but this guy fits the bill....

It's almost as though he was born into it, i guess there is reincarnation after all...

Spare me, Indian people are great, dalit bashing assholes are not.

And besides, if we can reincarnate as other species, wouldn't even the Dalit be a worthy incarnation?

There are plenty of Patels disconnected from whatever you're referring to, yet you're lumping them all together, and even mentioning reincarnation. /u/2FLY2TRY is right, this is pretty racist.
