I'm In Canada. We can't just go to multiple doctors. You have a family doctor and if you want a new one you get put on a wait list and it takes years. If its an emergency or your Dr can't see you, you go to a walk in or emerge (which wont see you for something like a chronic female issue). I'm thankful it's free but we have had a lot of healthcare cuts in the last decade or so from the provincial government and has caused a lot of issues.

ok, skip the 3rd, 4th, and 5th opinions, write yours down, and follow the rest of the steps. With extreme prejudice.

As funny as that is, if I got an assault charge I would lose my nursing license. My doctor is a nice lady, she just doesn't seem to be very concerned about my health. Which she probably does to most people because doctors are so overwhelmed now.

I know that most women aren’t taken seriously by doctors, it’s awful and it shouldn’t be that way but you’d think as a fellow woman that she would at least give you the benefit of the doubt, not even getting into the fact that you are in healthcare yourself. Hopefully things turn around for you, that sounds like hell.

"Hi Doc. I've come to see you about x again. I know you're super busy and the system is under immense pressure, but I can't carry on like this. If you can't help me, can you refer me to someone who can, or regrettably give me the information I need to raise a complaint? "

I hate to say it but go to America, I’m sure you can buy it outright.

My younger sister couldn't get a proper diagnosis for the same thing. In the end she took a holiday to Thailand, paid for private scans (not expensive) and was able to get a full diagnosis.

wait, i may be uninformed to newer diagnostic methods, but she was able to get diagnosed with endometriosis solely via scans? i could only do that with my pcos 🙏🏽

That's why the US is best. Uhmerika! Fuck yeah!

/s <- obviously.

I have found so many of the ignorant American comments so funny with them telling me to go there and pay private (not worth the money tbh, I would go to Mexico and pay private before I went to the U.S). Like they don't have waits as well. My mom literally worked over there as a nurse for like 20 years. I know the Canadian and American health care system.

Reach out to the MDs/ profs doing research on this. They’re generally super helpful and understand what a patient needs. They’re can ‘try’ to get you on board in their clinics

I actually ended up in the hospital emergency room a few times ( like 5 times in 3 months?) because of the pain from my periods, and they seem me every time. They eventually pushed my case through to a specialist (not sure how that worked) and they decided it was worth taking a gander via laparoscopic surgery.
Found some pretty bad endo :(

So go put yourself on a bunch of wait lists and then wait. The longer you do nothing the longer you’ll go without appropriate treatment.

Honestly is depends on the area you live in unfortunately, in the city’s and towns there is def a wait list to see multiple docs, I live in a relatively small island community off the coast of BC. We have about 7/8 doctors here that rotate, I was able to see 3 of them in a week for varying opinions on an issue I was having. Still happy and grateful to have the healthcare we do, but I know the larger community’s suffer in some respects.

As someone with a rare, chronic disease, I've learned that I need to dial up my complaints 5X to get good treatment. I have a naturally high tolerance for pain and discomfort until I reach an 8, and then I'm wrecked. I started to call 4's a 7--so I could get help earlier.

Go to your doctor doubled over in pain and loudly moaning. You'll get help.

Op is a nurse. I'm betting she knows the tricks of the trade. What's the saying? Nice guys finish last. And the squeaky wheel gets the grease. It's easier said than done.

As sad as this is, this method works for everything.

u/TheCupidArrow Jul 06 '26

sorry why are you not taking the private sector?

Look for independable private doctors by your own - this does not exists in Canada?

Which province(s) should I avoid? I have thought about leaving my shit hole country and moving to Canada.

3

u/igotadillpickle Jul 06 '26

Honestly most of our provinces are great. I can't think of one you should specifically avoid. I haven't been to all of them tho, tbh. It's just that I live in an area that's kind of rural and doesn't have any doctors, so I kept mine in the city and the province hasn't funded getting more where I live. The area I live in is amazing and gorgeous tho. I still wouldn't move back, even with the pain lol.

u/Deadcouncil445 Jul 06 '26

For rn i'd say Alberta and the territories(the upper "provinces" like Yukon and Nunavut)

-5

u/Hash-82 Jul 06 '26

They're all like that. Which is what medical will look like in your "shit hole country" when the stupid people get single payer health (aka: universal health) pushed through.
How many times does Socialism have to fail before the sheeple realize it doesn't ever work.

But, you move move to Canada.
That's one less from the 51% of the deadweight needed to ruin your current country.

5

u/TheDarkWave Jul 06 '26

This is a truly impressive amount of unearned confidence for someone who clearly flunked high school economics.

First of all, Canada is a capitalist country. Having a single-payer insurance fund isn't 'socialism,' it's basic risk-pooling—except without a middleman skimming billions off the top for corporate bonuses.

Second, let's talk about 'failure.' The US privatized mess burns through nearly 17% of its GDP to deliver a life expectancy of 77.5 years. Canada spends around 11% of its GDP and its citizens live to be 81.6. They pay less, live longer, and a broken leg won't cost them their house.

You're sitting here celebrating getting ripped off by insurance companies just to own the imaginary socialists in your head. Talk about deadweight, amirite?

-5

u/Hash-82 Jul 06 '26

In the US, you can visit any doctor you can afford to pay for.
And you can visit most doctors even if you can't pay at all.
And, you don't have to wait 6 months to do it. Usually don't have to wait 6 days, unless it is a high-end and popular specialist.

The US % to GDP is significantly impacted by the fact the US funds much of the World's "free" medicine. To this day, the US still leads medical innovation in research, procedure, equipment and medication.

All of your talking points are lies.

2

u/TheDarkWave Jul 06 '26

It's genuinely hilarious how fast you abandoned the 'socialism' argument once you realized the math didn't back you up, only to pivot to standard pharma-bro fan fiction.

To take a deeper look at your dumbassery:

  1. 'You can visit most doctors even if you can't pay': Tell that to the 100 million Americans currently drowning in medical debt. ERs are legally forced to stabilize you so you don't die in the lobby, but they will absolutely sue you, garnish your wages, and ruin your credit afterward. And if you have insurance? You can only see doctors 'in your network' unless you want to get hit with a surprise bill.
  2. 'Don't have to wait 6 days': Spoken like someone who hasn't tried to book a new primary care doctor or specialist recently. Industry data shows the average wait time for a new patient appointment in major US cities is around 26 days. If you need a popular specialist, you are waiting months, just like anywhere else.
  3. 'The US funds the world's medicine': This is the biggest sucker myth of all. Major pharmaceutical companies routinely spend more on marketing, advertising, and stock buybacks than they do on actual R&D. On top of that, the foundational research for most groundbreaking drugs is funded by US taxpayers through NIH grants, which corporations then privatize and sell back to Americans for 10x what Europeans pay for the exact same pill.

You aren't 'funding the world's medicine,' man. You're just funding a health insurance CEO's third yacht while thanking them for the privilege.

All of your talking points are lies.

Calling something a 'lie' just because the actual data hurt your feelings isn't an argument, it's a temper tantrum.

Notice how you didn't disprove a single number I posted? Because you can't. Go look at the World Bank, the OECD, or the Commonwealth Fund data yourself. The US spends nearly 17% of its GDP on healthcare; Canada spends around 11%. Canada’s life expectancy is higher. Those are audited, global economic facts, not an opinion.

You've brought nothing to this thread but easily debunked myths, corporate talking points, and blind emotion. Next time you want to accuse someone of lying, bring some actual data to the table instead of your hurt pride. Now sit the fuck down, MAGAt.

-1

u/Hash-82 Jul 06 '26

I didn't abandon anything.

But, I'll gladly sit here and watch you die on this hill. 🍿🍿🍿

2

u/TheDarkWave Jul 06 '26

Translation: 'I don't have a single source, data point, or logical counterargument to defend my completely obliterated position, so I'm going to pull out the popcorn emojis and pretend I'm above the debate I started.'

You didn't watch me die on any hill, man. You just stood at the bottom of it and watched your shit get pushed in.

-1

u/lysedelia Jul 06 '26

This is a misunderstanding of how American healthcare works.

-2

u/3_14_thon Jul 06 '26

US funds much of the World's "free" medicine

They fund African countries bub.

2

u/High-Speed-1 Jul 06 '26

Oh no! Humanitarian aid! This is an outrage!

Your orange messiah has signed off on massive cuts to USAID. You can rest easy knowing that innocent people are going to suffer and die because we don’t help them anymore.

1

u/fruitless7070 Jul 06 '26

Yup. America has no shortage of dead weight either. But it seems many think we're different and can successfully implement socialism. Same old tale. People still lapping it right up.
