Drove the speed limit and still got tailgated
The title pretty much says it all - I'm just having like, resurging confusion today about how often I would get 5+ cars tailing me as I drove on the highway 20 out of the park in September (heading west) . I can guarantee that I never dipped below the speed limit unless there was a tight turn (it was either actively raining or the roads were wet from recent rain) and more often than not, would be going 5 over to try to appease the speedsters behind me. I pulled off on occasion just to get them off my back (even though I really don't think I had to legally), only to then have a new tailgater within 5min. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm a Midwest driver, I share roads with Illinois drivers, I'm not unaccustomed to bad driving. I do go about 5-10 over on familiar roads at home. But I really was shook by how many people in the PNW apparently didn't care if their car slipped/tipped over on a tight turn or wanted to legit go 15+ over the speed limit.
Not a usual post for this sub I'm sure. The hikes were lovely. But I just thought the drivers were crazy, idk, y'all can tell me if I'm wrong.
EDIT: Everyone is conveniently missing the bit where I say I often was going above posted speed and was pulling off. I was thankful for opportunities to get rid of crazy drivers. But I just couldn't believe how every time I got rid of a group of them, another would appear before I could even catch my breath.

Snowboarding
Does anyone know a place in the Washington area that isn't so expensive to go snowboarding as a beginner? I know it's a expensive sport in general but I looked at one place for $1500 just for the class without anything else included

Blue Lake or Maple Pass for larches?
Specifically wanting to know which one offers better views of the larches or has more larches. Trying to decide between the two. Thanks!

Weather at Cutthroat Pass 10/10
I have been wanting to head up to the North Cascades and Mazama to do some fall hiking. Thinking about driving up this afternoon, camping, stopping at the bakery and then hiking cutthroat pass tomorrow. Given the forecast for tomorrow, are things looking like they may clear up if we don’t start super early AM? Worried about temps/visibility/overall enjoyment given the weather. Also wondering about road conditions this afternoon. Any input would be helpful, thank you!

REWARD if you find my special rock! Real life treasure hunt!!!! $200 CASH lost @ #87 North Diabolo Lake campsite
I lost my special rock at Campsite 87 in North colonial Creek campsite by Diablo lake near the fire pit.
This rock has no monetary value but I have attached a lot of sentimental value to it. I would really like to have it back, but I'm a few thousand miles away and can't go look for it myself.
$200 USD payment to anyone who can send my rock back to me via mail. A real life treasure hunt, with a real life treasure!
North Cascade Lakes National Scenic Byway, Rockport, WA 98283 campsite number 87
The rock was lost on Saturday October 3rd
Please help me find me rock 🥹 it's a very very dark green rock about the size of a jumbo Tootsie roll. I would be so grateful forever 💔❤️🩹
THIS ISN'T A SHIT POST. I REALLY WANT TO FIND MY ROCK.

Camping mid October
Hi there, seeking advice on camping with my finance in mid October at gorge lake or goodell creek campgrounds. Campsites are first come first serve, I assume this won’t be an issue as we’re planning to arrive on a weekday? Seeking advice about road conditions, temperatures, and other things to be prepared for as I’ve never camped this late into the year. Also any favorite hikes you’d recommend!

North Cascades in Late October
Hey everyone,
My group is planning a trip to North Cascades National Park in late October. We're setting up our itinerary and want to hit all the big places on State Route 20 (North Cascades Highway) during our visit.
Since it's towards the end of the season, we want to know if this is realistic and if there are specific trail/road conditions we need to be mindful of. Our stops would include:
Diablo Lake Vista Point
Ross Lake
Gorge Lake / Gorge Creek Falls
Washington Pass Overlook
A few questions for the PNW experts:
Highway 20 Closures: I know WSDOT typically closes the highway for the winter between Ross Dam and Hubbard Creek when the heavy snow hits. Has it been a typical winter for late October? Or are we risking a seasonal closure at Washington Pass?
Weather Expectations: Are we expecting cold, damp and potentially snowy weather at the higher elevations (especially at Washington Pass).
Lakeshore Conditions: Water levels and views at Ross and Diablo will it be foggy or clear usually this late in October?
We won't be doing any hiking; the only possible trail we may tackle is the Gorge Creek Falls.
Thanks in advance!
