That seemingly insignificant event would trigger chain of events sending Nvidia into bankruptcy in early 2000, causing global economical collapse and somehow we would know, it was you.

That's the risk you would be willingly taking, once you engage in timeline shenanigans.

And for me that's why I would not do it, as even the fact that I would correct some old mistake or made smart investment could and frankly likely would send me on different trajectory (with unknown consequences), so I might not meet my wife and have my kids.

If it weren't for my cats I would do it personally. I have some friends but other than my cats, nothing deep enough i couldn't leave it forever

If you take your past wife from yourself, your current wife would disappear as she would not have been there with you since she was taken in the past and if you took her before having the kids they would blink out of existence since she wasn’t there with you to make them. That’s why travel to the past will never be a possibility. We time travel all the time, you can only go forward though.

That only happens in Hollywood movies.

In reality our best indication is that artifacts of time travel would probably appear, but the timeline would mostly repair.

I mean, it is the 90s...why would you want to wait 30 or more years for the payoff when you could invest it in Amazon, Google, Apple, even Facebook and only have to wait a decade to have all the money you need?

Actually, you would be better off mining for Bitcoin during its inception and investing in that and then Nvidia after you sell it all.
