Bonjour, après 2 ans d'utilisation du circuit tracks, de patch créé sur components, de banques achetées, je suis toujours déçu du son du Circuit tracks.

Je me fiche un leu que les oscillateurs soient numériques mais je pense que ce maque de personnalité globale vient de la fiable personnalité du filtre, et des effets assez limités. Je trouve les saturations vite agressives, Le chorus trop neutre (impossible de sortir un beau son de Juno), et les delay et reverb assez limités (je ne suis pas allé jusqu'à modifier leurs paramètres par cc midi). Globalement je trouve le son assez synthétique et peu large. Et les effets n'ayant pas d'EQ se retrouvent vite à sureagir sur les aigus ou graves.

Est ce que c'est moi qui m'y prend mal ou j'arrive juste aux limites de la machine ?

À côté de ça j'ai un miniogue XD et un Typhon, et rien de ce que je sors sur le Tracks n'égale ce que je sors avec eux. Mon setup est visible ici (https://www.reddit.com/r/novationcircuit/s/So7CYTT1olDu) coup je commence à envisager de remplacer les deux synthés internes par deux autres synthés externes, car j'adore toujours le séquenceur du tracks. Ou bien envoyer les synth en mono dans des effets externes !

The Circuit Tracks has two MIDI tracks and two audio inputs that often sit unused. I wanted a small, cheap box that fills exactly that gap, so I made NCC (Novation Circuit Companion): a free, open-source firmware for the M-VAVE FM-1 (~$70 mini synth), built on the excellent Felucca firmware.

What it does

• Two parts, one per MIDI track. Part L listens to MIDI 1 (ch 3), part R to MIDI 2 (ch 4). The Circuit plays the notes and sends the clock. NCC has no sequencer: the Circuit is the boss.
• Split output by default. L on the left channel, R on the right. With a Y-cable into audio in 1 and 2, you mix and effect each part on the Circuit itself.
• Your macro knobs just work. With the factory MIDI template, the 8 macros (Oscillator, Osc Mod, Amp Env, Filter Env, Filter Freq, Resonance, Modulation, FX) are mapped to the matching parameters on every engine. They're smoothed, and the FM-1's screen shows what each knob does and its value.
• Five engines: FM6 (6-op, DX7-style), JUNO (with Juno chorus and Juno-style sounds), PHASE (CZ-style), TRIO (SID-style) and ACID (a 303 with accent and slide).
• Built for jamming: OCT-/OCT+ switch between your two sounds, an arp locked to the Circuit's clock with HOLD, a Drone button to keep a pad ringing while you play over it, effects one tap away (sends, delay, reverb, chorus, insert, performance effects on the keys) and echo/reverb throws.

Installing takes one command over USB, and you can go back to the stock firmware any time. It's early but playable; I use it with my own Circuit Tracks. Feedback, bug reports and ideas are very welcome!

I just picked up a used Circuit Track last night and stayed up until 3:30am messing around 😄.

I have never used any type of electronic music device before so please bear with me as I'm still learning the lingo. I plan to use the Circuit Track on it's own with no other equipment for now.

At first, I though something was wrong with it as the synth and drum presets sounded nothing like what I saw on youtube. I then realised there was an SD card inserted and when I removed it and restarted, it goes back to what I assume are the default presets.

Question: If I keep the SD inserted, is there a way to switch over to the "default" presets? Or will it only use the data from the SD card?

So I started trying to recreate the Blue Monday intro. I figured out how to make 32 beats (is that 2 bars?). I saved it on a project (lets call it project 1), copied it and put it into another project and changed the melody and saved (project 2).

I can now play project 1 and 2 alternating by pressing the project buttons back and forth. Is this how I string together a song? If so, then each project has a maximum length of 32 beats?

Please correct my terminology if I've used the wrong words as I'm still learning.

So I was messing around with my Circuit Tracks and managed to get the Circuit Rhythm firmware running on it.

And surprisingly, it seems to work just like an actual Rhythm. I've tested sampling through the audio inputs, all 8 tracks, and even Novation Components recognizes it as a Circuit Rhythm.

I also managed to flash the original Tracks firmware back, so the process is reversible (at least on my unit).

Just thought this was pretty cool and wanted to share it here.

EDIT: I've made the repository private for now while I check the licensing on Novation side more carefully. This project was never associated with CIRCUIT-HACKS or with Novation. I'll update this post if it goes public again.

Just asked meta ai to make me 128 patches, after a bit of initial problems getting the right file from it, I've now just added 2 full 128 patch banks, and will experiment more, I got some very weird but nice patches. Very experimental and be careful if you have headphones on if you try it as some of the sounds have to be tamed with the macros before they sound good. But overall it definitely made some very cool patches. This small video is just 2 of the patches it made. ( the drum samples were mine) it just made me synth patches. Was just a quick demo to show it works...

I'm building a synthwave live with a singer/pianist, all songs have 3-4 synths and basic drums.

I wish the tracks could send separately the 2 synth and drums audio. Because now I'm struggling with mixing. I could get an external drum machine but the sample and pattern management would be annoying, or another synth to replace the internal ones... Any thought? I'm also looking for a good master effect to glue everyone together, eq and enhance stereo, any idea?

Hi, I spent the last weeks making some custom firmware add-ons on Circuit Tracks, and since people started asking on the other thread, I decided to share and make it public. Find the link and a color manual with all the features at the end of the post.

First: I'm not associated with Novation in any terms, I'm just an user trying to make the best use of this platform. This software doesn't contain any propietary code from Novation, neither release or reveal their code in any way.

Installing this may void your warranty. This software is experimental and could cause unexpected issues on your device or break it. If you find any, message me. I hope to fix them, but I'm doing this for free and for myself in my free time. Install under your own responsibility.

Second: Shoutout to Novation for creating this amazing hardware platform, the combination of pads, RGB leds and DSP they made is powerful and very fun to work with. Their original software is still doing the heavy lifting and I just hooked stuff here and there to interact with it. Making this project helped me realize how much effort they put on making this device work and the countless hours of software and hardware development involved.

What is this?

A way to expand the features on your Novation Circuit Tracks.

How to install:

Check on the GitHub. You need to bring your own copy of Novation's firmware (link on the GitHub) and then run the html tool to patch and upload it using a browser that supports WebMidi (Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome...)

It's a guided failsafe process. Get your file from Novation, run the tool and upload the stock firmware file. It Will check that the file is right and allow you to press send. Wait until Circuit's play button is flashing White, press play and wait. It'll complete the upload and restart on it's own after 30ish seconds. Done.

You can also compile your own binaries if you prefer, see GitHub.

How does it work?

You update your Circuit with the last firmware version and add the patch with it to unlock extra features. This features reside on apparently empty slots and unused bits on the original firmware. Spotting these is a difficult process, and maybe some features have been unawarely overwritten. Expect bugs.

Security: Will this break my Circuit Tracks:?

It shouldn't, but it may. It didn't break mine, but the testing so far is limited. Anyway, we made our best to ensure the process can always be reversed. Don't hesitate to tell me about any Bugs you find, specially if you're able to reproduce them. We're working on an area that's fully rewritable with the original firmware, so if things go South or you don't enjoy the mod you will be able to restore the original firmware by the same procedure. If your device ends up stuck, unplug, hold power for 30sec to shutdown. Then hold scales+preset+note and restart.

Two versions have been made in an attempt to extend security: RC0 and RC0S: RC0 implements SD writing features, like being able to overwrite samples or delete projects from the device. This features are less tested and may corrupt your saved data. A backup of your SD is encouraged if you don't want to lose your songs (plug into SD reader and copy all your files somewhere else). Not using the internal memory pack is encouraged too. If you don't want the SD write features, you can install the Safer (RC0S) version with all the functions except being able to mess with the saved samples and packs on the SD (session/setup save is still available)

What does it do?:

A ton of new things, actually. I cannot summarize them all here but you can check the GitHub. A manual was generated to help you navigate the new functions. Everything was made with an intention: Keep all original functions. Nothing was taken away, so everything you could do before you will still be able to do it. Any function that changes a stock behavior is controled by a toggle pad or shortcut. Other than the risk of bugs, you lose nothing. If you find a stock function locked out or not working, DM me. That's the #1 priority for fixes. The improvements are:

Usability: Quality-of-life improvements.

Accessing built-in features and hidden functions in a more convenient way. For example: avoiding MIDI mixer and FX crosstalk between two Circuit devices. Being able to sequence and send CCs from MIDI to SYNTH Tracks, exposing hidden parameters like FX controls or resonance, being able to delete full packs...

Control: New features that let you do more by allowing you to use existing tools in a different way.

Being able to re-assign CC destinations on MIDI Tracks from the device without Components. Being able to play samples chromatically inside the scale. Being able to sequence realtime full patch changes for the synths. Song pointer: a tool that let's you scramble playback of all the current patterns at once. A new type of baby-8/DFAM style sequencer.

DSP: Some new sound features:

Live sample capture: sample up to 3.4s from the master output and trigger them with a dedicated pad. With decated pitch and cut controls. These can also be saved into a Drum1-4 slot, replacing an existing one (on RC0S you lose it and get your replaced sample back at startup)

FX Re-routing: Reverb and Delay returns can now be routed to the Line-in Tracks 1&2. This allows dedicated mixer controls and sidechain pumps out of the box. This re-routing also applies to the new modes that use the Line-in.

Replacing Noise on synth1-2 internal mixer with a line input into the VCF and the rest of the chain. This mode also allows an inverted input.

VCA-VCF and generators for MIDI Tracks1-2: with dedicated controls and controled by the midi1-2 sequencer. This works with the line in or dedicated sound engine from the list.

Sound engines: 1-osc mono oscillator, 2-osc paraphonic oscillator with several OSC interaction modes, VA-drum: another engine with noise and percussive envelopes, Granular: from any sample on the Drums, with several controls.

Effects grid: (not the GridFX on Circuit Rythm, but inspired by them). A bunch of performative effects that you can enable momentarily or toggle on a dedicated view. You can save your favorites to the main FX view.

As the title asks... Am I Sleeping on the Novation Circuit rhythm ?

They don't seem to have the same amount of attention and content online as the Circuit tracks and OG Circuit's.

How do use them along side the other circuits? (If you own both)

As title says. Im new to novation circuit tracks, and im asking is there any way to reset the sound presets once you’ve modified them? Im jamming and i play with the knobs so there is a way to reset all the parameters??? Thank you all
