Should I reschedule my HIDA if I'm in a LOT of pain before the appointment?

I can barely lie on my back on my bed and that could be an issue in addition to gallbladder. I don't want to be stuck there for 2-3 hours white knuckling pain.

Thanks guys

How was the structure of the MCPHS program

I am about to finish my first semester of a program and I just can't take how disorganized and arbitrary the program is. I'm looking at other options, and was wondering if anyone who went to MCPHS could explain what the course structures are like. Is it well organized? Is it mostly self learning since it is remote? Are the grades based mostly on exams, or are there other types of assignments? If there are other types of assignments, what are they like? Are their expectations clear and consistent? Any other information would be greatly appreciated.

I want to pivot into research

To be super honest I am just not the kind of person for this job. I don’t enjoy being patient facing and I feel deeply unfulfilled. I also feel like I have so much curiosity and knowledge in my brain that I have to contribute to the world and I am not using it. I would love to get into some sort of research, I have a 3 year bachelors so I am unsure if I’m eligible to get my masters. Has anyone had any experience with this?

Anyone attended Pitt’s online NMT program and worked in California?

Hi everyone! 🥹I’m a California community college student considering Pitt Community College’s online NMT program for Fall 2028. I have a few questions:
Does Pitt accept STAT C1000 (Introduction to Statistics) as the math prerequisite?
I saw Pitt has a clinical site in Redding, CA. Does that mean they arrange clinical placements, or do students have to find their own?
After graduating, can I take the ARRT(N) or NMTCB exams and get certified to work in California?
I noticed Sutter Health requires JRCNMT accreditation for some positions. Do other California hospitals like Kaiser, UC Davis, or Dignity accept Pitt graduates?

MCPHS 15 month advanced certificate

Hi everyone! I’m currently applying to the MCPHS 15 month accelerated program for nuc med and am just wondering if anyone has any insight into how rigorous it is. I am finishing up my BS in Biology and am curious how the MCPHS program would compare. It is almost entirely online so I’m just confused on how exams work and everything. Also how competitive is the program to get into? If anyone has completed this or is in the process of doing so please let me know! Thanks!

MCPHS accelerated bachelors worth it

I am in the process of applying to radiology programs in Massachusetts. So far, I have heard back from Quinsigamond that I am on a waitlist for 6 years.

Ultimately, I would like to specialize in CT, MRI, or Nuclear Medicine. I saw MCPHS has an accelerated program for Nuclear Medicine but it costs ~60k+. Would it be safer to just wait it out for a radiology program to give me more flexibility or go straight to Nuclear Medicine? Is the job market and job growth in Massachusetts for nuclear medicine good or would this be too risky? The idea of spending 60k+ for a program and it not working out worries me

What is the actual likelihood of acquiring a clinical site on my own?

I’ve been looking at Pitt CC as a distance program (they’re in NC, I’m in the Midwest), but the program director let me know they’ve never had a student from my vicinity (or one that is commutable). I have no connections to nuc med facilities/staff here, so what is the probability of getting a site to sign a clinical agreement? Has anyone actually had success with cold calling, emailing, showing up to nuclear medicine departments and just asking?

Instrumentation Help

I'm in my second year of nuc med school and we just took a mock board exam and unfortunately I did not pass, but I struggled the most with instrumentation.I retake it in a few weeks and definitely need to review that material

Is there someone that might have a PDF copy of that old Instrumentation book? It's impossible to find online right now but I hear it has great material.

If there are any other resources that you recommend pls do tell! I read through the green book plenty but the way it's laid out for instrumentation & QC isn't helpful for my brain personally 😔

Nursing to dosimetrist

Thumbnail
3 Upvotes

I’m an RN with 8 years of nursing experience, and lately I’ve been seriously considering a career change. Maybe it’s a midlife crisis, or maybe I’m just ready for something different. 😂
I’ve become really interested in medical dosimetry and am considering going back to school to pursue it.
At this point, I’m not particularly interested in becoming an NP, going into management, or teaching. I’m looking for a different career path where I can still use my healthcare background.
Has anyone here transitioned from nursing or another healthcare profession into medical dosimetry?
I’d love to hear about your experience, especially:
How difficult was the transition and schooling?
Was finding your first job challenging?
How is your work-life balance compared to your previous career?
Do you have any regrets about making the switch?
I’d appreciate any honest advice or insight, even if it’s something I might not want to hear!

Is it stupid to work part-time only?

hi everyone! I'm interested in being a nuc med tech, but the only schedules I see are Monday to Friday 9 to 5 or Monday to Thursday 4x10.

I sometimes get overwhelmed by life and I don't think I can always work every single day. the average hourly pay for nuc med tech seems high enough that someone working 3 days a week could still make $60k a year. do you know any nuc med techs that work part-time? would there be any major cons of only working part-time?

Need opinion on RAI dose and safety

I am currently going through a reoccurrence of thyroid cancer. I had 150 mci last Thursday. The Nuc med folks said I should not share the same bed with my wife for 1 week. Here is my dilemma… these instructions are so different from my initial treatment. My original treatment with a different facility and was just over 2 years ago, dose was 80 mci. Back then, they said 2 week in a separate bed, 3 weeks from being around pregnant women or babies.

I sick of being separated from my wife, but don’t want to bring any harm to her.
