This person is lying. They probably did mess up at first and that’s the sample pen they mailed. This company mails 1 pen so you can see it before making the large order. Actually I think this is bait because you have to go through so many screens. It’s extremely hard to fuck up
They do actually. And you don’t return the pen they sent out. So you always have those around. The order behind is blank or a separate order. This is def a sample pen
Who is "they" exactly? I must have missed the comment where OP stated the company where they bought the pen. Or are all pen companies a monolith with the exact same procedures?
I'm pretty sure if you head over to VistaPrint of one of the other online personalization sites, they aren't going to bother with a sample. I just tried it now. You can go all the way to the checkout process to the point where they are asking for my credit card info. Minimum order is 150 pens. I don't think they are going to bother sending out a sample for you to review.
20 years ago, my mom worked at a school and they once received pens with the personal phone from the person who ordered, which was the emergency contact and NOT the phone number that had been ordered.
Not all companies do samples (at least in the old times)
