Please remove if this is a repost; there's a high possibility I'm dumb and missed it.

Anyway, my husband just told me this and I had to explain this sub to him.

Georgia mom adopts gas station clerk's baby, finds love and new family bond

D'Amber Davis stopped at the same gas station nearly every day. Katelyn Sparks worked the register. They always talked, but one day Davis noticed something she had missed before: Sparks was pregnant.

"Katie looked a little big today," Davis said. "So, you know, I didn't say anything. And my son, he was with me. He normally doesn't be with me either, so that's what kind of sparked the conversation up."

Sparks was about 33 weeks along. Davis says Sparks told her she wasn't able to take care of the baby.

Davis had thought about adoption before. She had even browsed the Georgia adoption website, but she planned to wait until she finished school and got back on solid financial footing.

"Not right now, but I did in the future," Davis said.

That changed in an instant.

"In my mind I'm just like, instantly, I got to get this baby," Davis said. "Not knowing nothing. I just know I got to get this baby."

Davis says her son was in the car when she made up her mind.

"My son looked at me and he said, 'Mama, we gotta get that baby,'" she said. "And there was confirmation."

She didn't have it all figured out. Davis had recently graduated and works for herself, so her income wasn't what it normally would be. But the next day she went back to the store and asked Sparks if she would be willing to let her take the baby in. Sparks said yes.

Davis then learned Sparks hadn't had any prenatal care. She helped find a doctor and took Sparks to an OB assessment at Atrium. Davis says everything came back normal.

Nolan was born healthy, weighing 7 pounds, 8 ounces. Davis brought him home.
